This dish is missing something and I don't know what but I think it needs another layer in the flavor profile Lemonade - Great, but why is the lemonade considered a mocktail? And it cost $6. It tastes as though Ida Claire has brought this recipe back to life made it a lil crispier and threw some fancy sauces to go along with it. I am more than happy to pay 6$ for biscuits. Stopped in on a whim and ended up having such a great experience. The atmosphere was lively, welcoming, and feels like the perfect spot for a birthday dinner, girls' night, or any larger group. Paloma took great care of me and completely nailed her recommendations. I ordered the chicken corn chowder because of her suggestion, and it was genuinely one of the best soups I've ever had. Wonderful charming southern cuisine restaurant. We had the seafood pasta with sides of cheese grits and cornbread. They were all delicious. We loved the cornbread so much we ordered 5 to go and the waitress was very friendly and helpful throughout our visit. I saw other customers ordering chicken and waffles and they looked really yummy! Ida Claire is soooo cute!!! Love their vibe!! Service is a bit slow...or it was when we were there. But our waitress was so friendly!! Only mishap was when she told me there was 5 pieces of peach cobbler left and me and one more in my group said we wanted to order 2 and that we would take them to go. After our meal, we were ready to take them, she came back and said they are out of ice cream...then came back and said they were out of the cobbler. DEVASTATED!! Went for the pecan pie instead....it was soooo so delicious!!! ....of course I bet the cobbler would have been just as good if not better!!! I digress....the food was great! Came here for a quick solo brunch and sat at the bar. It was very busy and noisy but the wait staff at the bar were so friendly and attentive to me. I ordered the low country breakfast and a single lemon poppyseed pancake. The low country breakfast consisted of biscuits, eggs, potatoes, and I swapped the ham steak for bacon. The food as you can imagine, tastes like breakfast, but my egg whites were undercooked and extremely runny which made me gag. Not sure why everyone assumes the average person likes runny eggs or uncooked food. Anyways, once I brought this to their attention, they brought me new eggs over hard (with a yolk even though I wanted egg whites, but I digress). I really loved how they played upbeat music, not sleepy music with dinner. I couldn't have been more wrong. We stopped by on a weekday during their Vinyl Happy Hour with no reservation and was seated right away -- a great start! The vibe was relaxed yet lively, perfect for unwinding. The décor definitely had me looking everywhere; absolutely loved it. Here's what I tried: From the Vinyl Happy Hour menu: - Mini Hummus Board: Generous portion of hummus that took up half the plate, served with soft pita and assorted fresh vegetables. - Nashville Shrimp: Four jumbo shrimp in a light batter. I requested the spicy dressing on the side, which worked perfectly. - Ida's Frosé: Light, refreshing, and the ideal Happy Hour drink. From the regular menu: - Crab Cake: Absolutely incredible. We've been eyeing to try Ida Claire back in San Antonio but there was always a waitlist. Lucky for me a there is a closer location in Addison and we were able to stop by for brunch. We chose Ida Claire to celebrate my daughter's birthday, and unfortunately, the experience was extremely disappointing. Although the restaurant accepted our reservation, they were unable to properly accommodate our group. Some members of our family were seated in 104-degree heat without adequate air conditioning or relief, even though we could see empty tables inside. The conditions became so uncomfortable that some of our invited guests eventually had to leave the celebration early. The food and service only added to the disappointment. I ordered the Nashville hot chicken sandwich with Brussels sprouts. What I received tasted like chicken tenders with honey, there was no heat at all (spice) and I was served fries instead of the Brussels sprouts I ordered. I brought this to our waiter's attention, but the Brussels sprouts were never brought to me. What concerned me even more was the bill. Had I not specifically asked for a receipt and reviewed it, I would not have realized that I had been charged for both the fries and Brussels sprouts, even though I never received the Brussels sprouts. When I questioned the charge, the waiter pointed to another guest's Brussels sprouts and asked if those were mine. I had to explain that they belonged to her because she had ordered her own. I strongly recommend checking your bill carefully. We also repeatedly asked for water refills for our group of approximately 20 people. After asking several times, we were finally brought a small amount of water that was barely enough to refill three glasses. I have visited Ida Claire before, and while the service on previous visits was not this poor, I have consistently found the food to be underwhelming. After this experience, especially for what was supposed to be a special family birthday celebration I cannot recommend this restaurant. I sincerely hope no one in my family chooses it again for such an important celebration. read more

The ambience is another standout--laid-back yet lively, and perfect for any occasion. If I had one small drawback, it would be that the portion sizes don't always seem to match the price. A group of us recently enjoyed an evening dinner at Ida Claire. The atmosphere was wonderful, and the food was very good. Our reservation was for 13 guests, but unfortunately three people were unable to attend--one due to illness and I'm not sure why the other two couldn't make it. Ten of us still showed up and had a lovely evening. However, at the end of the meal, we were surprised to learn that we would be charged an additional $100 because the three absent guests did not meet a stated $35 minimum per person requirement. We were expected to pay for meals that were never ordered or consumed. In all my years of dining out and generously tipping service staff, I have never encountered such a policy. Had this requirement been clearly communicated when the reservation was made, it might have been easier to understand and plan accordingly. Instead, it left a disappointing impression at the end of what had otherwise been a very enjoyable evening. Restaurants certainly deserve to protect themselves from large no-shows, but unexpected charges like these can make guests feel nickel-and-dimed. Transparency is key, and policies that affect customers financially should be clearly disclosed upfront so there are no unpleasant surprises. read more
