Food was fantastic, price was great. Service was rather quick and the ambiance was nice as well. Will be back soon.

I went in for a sandwich to go, and learned I will be coming back - soon - for breakfast!…read more First the server found that I was taking my Italian sub to go, so they graciously wrapped everything separately so the bread would not get soggy! Who does that?!? Someone who cares about the quality of their food and their customer. I noticed biscuits and gravy on the breakfast menu, and I am a snob and love biscuits and gravy, but I am pretty picky. They let me try their gravy, and let me tell you, it was delicious! Just peppery enough for a bit of a kick, with nice large pieces of sausage. I was drooling over my little taste of this. They make their own biscuits as well, so I will be back soon for this. Restaurant is in a strip mall of sorts, and doesn't "stand out", but inside it is cozy and quite cute. They have a case full of keto desserts that looked amazing! I will be back, and as they serve breakfast all day - no one says you have to eat biscuits and gravy in the morning - right?!

The staff were attentive, informative and proud of their offerings. I asked about what appeared to be Napoleon cake and they did indeed carry Napoleon cake. I'll try that on my next visit. That's not common here in the south. Inside is clean and quaint. I really nice place to have a coffee and dessert. My wife tried some low carb options. See Laura A in Jacksonville for more details. I had the carrot cake and the Snickers cheesecake. Both really solid. The carrot cake was moist and the icy really light. The cream cheese icing came through but was not overwhelming. The Snickers cheesecake had all that was best about both and when eaten, just melded into one delicious bite. Nothing too sweet, everything balanced really well. We'll be back to try more. I highly recommend you give Wicked Batter at try. Really good bakery/cafe.

I usually shy away from this especially since Covid due to sanitary concerns, but all my worries went out the door when I put the food in my mouth!!! Pancit - 8/10 - great flavors, the noodles were a little dry but that may be because it was sitting out too long. Shrimp obud - 10/10- absolutely delicious! it had bamboo shoots in it and the curry was so flavorful I could drink it. Dinuguan - 7/10- it was tasty but couldn't get over that it was pork blood.... Pork Adobo and Chicken curry-8/10- both had great flavors. Really friendly guy behind the counter that recommended the best dishes.

The cafe is more on the smaller side but it's cozy and the customer service is always happy and friendly! When you walk inside, there's a hot bar with all the food items available that day. You can check their Facebook page for their menu each day! You can get combos like an entree and a side, two entrees and a side, etc. On the shelves near the windows, there are local Filipino desserts like crinkles, puto (rice cake), flan, etc for sale. They also sell mac salad in the fridge and some dried fish on the shelves. What I love about this cafe is that they have a small snacks/drinks/candy market next to the dining area. The dining area is a good size and faces the parking lot. On this particular Saturday, we had the following entrees and sides: Lechon (roasted pig), Kaldereta (Filipino beef stew), and some rice! The lechon pieces were big and the skin (my fav!) was crispy, salty, and golden! The meat was also juicy and not dry. What I like to do is dip the meat into some white vinegar to give it some acidity since the lechon is on the heavy side after a few bites. The Kaldereta was hearty, rich, flavorful and it reminded me of an elevated beef stew. The potatoes and carrots literally melted in my mouth! I gave my combo plate a 8.5/10! My husband had Humba (braised pork belly that is slow cooked in soy sauce, vinegar, garlic, bay leaves, fermented black beans, and sugar) and he thoroughly enjoyed it. He shared some pieces of it with me and it was smooth as butter. It was sweet and salty and his rice soaked up all the sauces. Definitely a must try! I would give it a 9/10 because the flavors were so rich and it made me want even more! The prices are reasonable for how much food you're getting! They also sell desserts like halo halo (shaved iced with fresh fruits, taro ice cream, toppings like flan, condensed milk, jellies, beans, etc.) I've personally had the halo halo and it's one of my favorites! Super refreshing on a hot summer day. They also sell mango and taro flavored cakes but you have to call in advance for whole cakes. Their cakes are light, delicious, and fluffy! I especially enjoy the mango cake because you get chunks of fresh, champagne mangoes on and inside the cake. We've been coming here for years and don't plan on stopping. My husband is a bit of a Filipino food snob at times, but Lola's definitely has a special place in his heart! They do military discounts too, FYI!

On the positive side, the wait time was very reasonable--about 10 minutes. Our server, Deborah R., was outstanding. She was attentive, professional, apologetic throughout the entire experience, and did everything she could to make things right. She was truly the highlight of our visit and deserves recognition for her exceptional customer service. Unfortunately, the kitchen experience was another story. My wife ordered a Denver omelet, and I ordered the fried chicken Eggs Benedict. Another server delivered our food, and while my wife's Denver omelet was correct, I was served the fried green tomato Eggs Benedict instead of the fried chicken version I had ordered. My incorrect meal was taken back. About two minutes later, my wife's meal was brought back out while I continued waiting. Deborah checked on my order and told me they were almost finished with it. We later found out that my actual meal had been delivered to the wrong table. When my correct order finally arrived about 10 minutes later, the fried chicken was raw. At that point, after receiving the wrong order, having my food served to another table, and then being served undercooked chicken, I declined having anything else prepared because too many mistakes had already been made. To their credit, they removed my meal from the bill, and I only paid for my wife's breakfast. Neither of us had eaten all day and had planned to enjoy breakfast together. My wife took her meal home to eat later, and I had to leave and find somewhere else to eat. What concerned me the most was the food safety aspect. Serving raw chicken is not simply a quality issue--it is a food safety issue that has the potential to make someone seriously ill. Basic food safety standards should prevent undercooked poultry from ever leaving the kitchen, especially after the order had already been delayed and remade. I was also told that the general manager was out of town and that the manager on duty was working the line. While I understand restaurants can be short-staffed, I was disappointed that no one in a management role was able to step away, even briefly, to acknowledge what had happened and address my concerns directly after multiple mistakes and a significant food safety issue. This review is not a reflection of Deborah R. She was an absolute rockstar and handled a difficult situation with professionalism, empathy, and outstanding customer service. She did everything within her control to make things right. The issues were clearly in the kitchen and with the restaurant's operational oversight. I hope Grumpy's recognizes Deborah for the excellent service she provided while also taking a hard look at its kitchen procedures and food safety practices so another customer doesn't have the same experience.
