I really respect how the owner handled the situation. He personally reached out to apologize for the service issues and welcomed us back to give them another chance. On our return visit, the difference was noticeable. The staff was much more attentive, service was smooth, and there were no long wait times. The food was great as always, but what stood out most was the owner's attitude. He wasn't defensive or dismissive. These dishes are our goto choices of order when we dine here. The salad samplers were so flavorful and I absolutely love getting a taste of all the available salads. The Kabocha soup was insanely good (my parents order this often but it was my first time trying it). There's veggies and mushrooms and tofu in the soup. Flavor was just on point! My favorite always is the Mushroom hotpot. The soup broth and the many mushroom varieties just taste so good. You get to choose one of two noodles (i forgot if rice was an option or not)and we went with the classic vermicelli. Service here was slightly delayed but understandable due to the heavy traffic and big parties. The staff were communicative and were working very hard to complete orders. Restaurant was packed and the interior is really homey and comfortable. It's not a fancy restaurant and rather is one where you'd like to share a peaceful family meal at. Highly recommended. We found out about this place from some friends and we've been there a couple of times since. It's awesome to have a go to spot for vegetarian Vietnamese food. The space is welcoming with the decorations and decor. The staff are always friendly and attentive. There's a patio area for outside dining as well. The dishes we enjoy are the salad platter that lets you sample most of the salads on the menu. The crispy yellow egg noddles were really delicious! We didn't realize it but we happen to go on a full moon day, which means many Vietnamese people will eat vegetarian so the place was quite full. The bowl came with fake-looking spam and other soy-based mock meats that resembled chả, which was fun to try. The bò lúc lắc had bold, heavy seasoning, but I personally didn't love the texture of the fake meat... it didn't quite hit the same as the real thing for me. The standout, though, was the nem nướng appetizer. Absolutely delicious and probably my favorite dish of the meal. The sauce really made it and tied everything together. We went to Golden Bamboo restaurant for Mother's Day dinner. It was crowded but luckily we were seated right away without reservation. The menu was long and had a wide selection of vegetarian food. We chose a pork dish, a fish dish, pad Thai, and Vietnamese sweet and sour soup. I was amazed that they made the "meat" dish actually taste like meat! The pork belly was crispy and coated with a thick layer of sauce that was lightly sweetened. The deep fried fish was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The pad Thai tasted great, but the noodles were stuck to each other and hard to pick up. Our favorite was the sweet and sour soup. The soup had a tangy taste, which made it very refreshing. It came with many kinds of vegetables such as okra, oyster mushroom, tomatoes, and zucchini. We also saw that many other tables ordered the same soup! The restaurant was located in a plaza in the Evergreen neighborhood. There was plenty of parking. Overall, it's a great restaurant for vegetarian food. There's more crunchy fried pieces of vegan meat in the thai fried rice and there's more salty chewy pieces in the salted fish fried rice. They're must try's. Vegan chicken is good here as well nice textures and flavors. Vegan pork belly - allegedly the texture is really close to real pork belly, but this is really good! I get the pork belly with vermicelli noodles. I also like the duck buns (vegan duck was good) but not a must try. I usually skip the curries - they're good but a lot thicker than thai curries and I don't think they're coconut based ? not sure. They're good but they won't taste like yellow thai curry or green thai curry if that's what you expect. All the caramelized clay pot..not my favorite personally but it authentic. The parking situation was doable since it shares lots with other businesses. The interior was well-kept and beautiful with religious decor and plants. We were actually the first customers and it proved to be a slow Tuesday night for them. They started us off with an herbal tea (nước sâm), which we later found out it was an extra charge of $11. We also got the fried mushroom appetizer, autumn rolls, and duck steamed buns to share. For myself, I got the bun hue, which I forgot to take a picture of. Everything tasted amazing, besides the stale rice cracker that the mushrooms were placed on. We had so much on the table that we ended up taking leftovers home. As expected of Viet veg food, everything was pretty pricey but we did order enough for four people at least. Additionally, although the tea did taste amazing, I don't appreciate that the waiter didn't inform us about the price before hand. He was low-key trying to get us to buy more, and being the sucker that I am, I did buy a 2-pint durian ice cream to bring home, lol. Come here if you're able to say no easily!! Steamed tofu loaf - good but filling Coconut shoot salad- excellent. Perfect in every way. Tofu noodle soup- good soup. Deep fried noodles- crisp and yummy. But you need to eat it fast. Noodles can get quite salty once it soaked up all the gravy. Peking Duck - just ok because it does not taste or look like Peking duck. But again, this is a V place, not a Chinese place. I happened to have the best vegetarian Peking Duck at a Chinese Vegan place in Vegas years ago and it was amazing so I had something to compare. I've seen this place for so long but never tried it because I am not a vegetarian. But today we decided to give it a go. And we were not disappointed! First off, the decor is amazing. Cultural yet modern and still elegant. That sets the tone. Seated quickly but took some time to explore the menu, as all the items were new to us. Started with the Nam Rang Muoi, aka Salt & Pepper Oyster Mushrooms. These are battered and deep fried. Very nice start. Next was Ca Ri Vang, aka Yellow Curry, which we added fake chicken. The sauce was very nice. It came with white rice. It may be nit-picky, but the rice wasn't great. Clumpy. Next was Hu Tieu Xao Thai Lan, otherwise known as Pad Thai. This was pretty good but a little too sweet for me. But I didn't see any Pad See Ew on the menu, which I like better. For dessert was the Mango Sticky Rice, also named Xoi Xoai. This one needs work. It's coated witha white sauce which I thought was condensed milk, but it wasn't sweet at all, so maybe it was evaporated milk, which isn't sweet enough because the mango wasn't that sweet. So of course, we got the Cơm Bò Lúc Lắc (Shaken Beef) with White Rice. The flavor of the vegan meat was on point, even the texture felt real. There were plenty of veggies and it was a great dish to share. She also had the Nấm Rang Muối (Salt & Pepper Oyster Mushroom), which she highly recommends plus we enjoyed the Nem Nướng Cuốn (Pork Spring Rolls). The spring rolls were jam-packed and refreshing, and the vegan pork was delectably grilled. Everything tasted fantastic and was reasonably priced! For those looking for a purely vegetarian and vegan restaurant, Golden Bamboo Vegetarian got your back! Five salad sampler: I love trying a little bit of everything when I visit a restaurant and this dish was perfect for that. All the salads were really well seasoned.
