Never again! I just left a walk-in appointment for a gel manicure service. I requested a French manicure with a simple design of straight lines on my natural nails, which are relatively short. I blame myself because I did not ask for the pricing up front. However, I've received this exact same service and design at other surrounding nail salons and I've never been charged more than $70. Idol Nails just charged me $90 for this gel manicure! The nail tech explained to me that doing a French manicure is like doing two regular manicures because it requires a base coat then a second coat for the French tip. I do the upgraded pedicures and they always provide excellent service and a final result that I am happy with. A free bottle of water (or wine) of you ask is provided during pedicures. If I had a zero for a review I would. My fiancé got her nails done and they said she got the high end ones and not the acrylic ones and they said it was $55 but they ended up charging her $90 something for something t she didn't get. I called them and they would argue and say that she wanted the highest price nails but she said she wanted the lowest price and they lie and Steal your money. also they wouldn't give a refund. My experience here has good customer service, however the workmanship was terrible. I went back 2 times in a week to fix something. Most of my new nails lifter off nail bed. When I brought this to their attention, I was told they aren't lifting and not to push on them. That's not how it works. I stopped into Idol Nails & Spa on a Friday morning for a quick pedicure. I was in the neighborhood and chose this shop due to more and higher Yelp reviews. I walked in sometime around 11:15-11:30. I didn't walk out until 12:55. They were understaffed. I realized this about 5 minutes in and probably should have left but didn't. They only had 4 techs working and it simply wasn't enough to meet the demand. The place was reasonably clean and everyone was courteous and friendly. They just needed more help. If in the neighborhood again I would probably check out another shop and if not then I'd directly ask for and estimation of how long I'd wait before the service would begin. So after two days my nails were falling apart, half of them were chipped and cracking so I called and they said they would fix them. I want to give them credit for trying to right their wrong. They did fix them at no charge and I got a different technician who was soo much faster, better and careful of my cuticles. I will say they definitely still over book themself and if you are looking for quick or an apt time that they will keep this is not the place. I have a love/hate relationship with this salon. It used to be my go to place then all my favorite techs quit or moved on and the work quality went down. A week and a half ago I went back to get some Christmas nails done and was very happy. On 12-29 I went back for a color change. They told me no problem. The tech did my toes no problem but then she drilled off my color on my nails and I told her twice they were acrylic. She soaked my fingers despite my objections. All my nails were gone. When I raised concern the "lady in charge" that day who was the daughter mumbled "why didn't you say they were acrylic" I said just finish taking this off and I will go elsewhere. Ken took over from there, said he would just paint them and not charge me for my fingers. Shocked they would even think I'd pay for them at this point I agreed to let him paint them. What a mistake, they are sloppy, he forgot to put the primer on and they are bubbly. I think this is the final straw and I won't be back. read more

This nail salon staff is by far the best I have ever experienced! Each time I have come here I have experienced the best quality customer service and quality of work. I get the dip powder manicures and each time the staff has demonstrated the highest level of care when treating my hands and shaping my nails. I have also had the "Ultimate Pedicure" and it is absolutely amazing! The massage actually feels like a massage therapy session and not what you may have experienced at a lower quality salon. The staff really treats you well with their care and I couldn't be happier. The salon also has thousands of colors to choose from in gel, dip powder, regular polish, and special patterns/styles! Made an appointment a week in advance and got a text confirming. That was nice. Appointment was a mani / pedi for my honey for her bday. Showed up 10 min in advance of appointment and it was about 10 deep with all the chairs filled. We checked in and had to call someone over to explain we had an appointment...told they had a lot of walk ins and wouldn't be too long. Also learned from crowd waiting most also had appointments which were already past...great. When two chairs opened up they called back two ladies without an appointment...left 3 with appt sitting. Those ladies sat for 20-25 minutes without anyone doing anything to them. During this time we saw a male worker leave his customer to check someone out. He never took his gloves off, handled money and went right back to his customer, never changing gloves. After 30 minutes of no one really checking on us or making any effort we simply left. I stopped in here on a Sunday and was impressed at how quickly I got in. However, I'm a black woman and was quickly reminded of that. There were several white women sitting side by side getting pedicures (and none were together). When they sat me down, they put me at the very end, by myself. That was fine as I'm antisocial but I definitely noticed. After the pedicure, I was moved to a man who did my nails and he was cordial enough...until he told me that he sees many of "my kind" in North County...a place in which I've never frequented. I went into Idol Nails & Spa to treat myself to a spur-of-the-moment pedicure. My feet were in desperate need of some TLC, and I figured why not! With only one other customer inside, I figured it was a good time to try it out. I am beyond glad I ventured inside. The owner was warm and friendly and sat me down in a chair immediately. She brought me a bottled water and then introduced me to Marcy, my technician. What happened afterward is nothing short of awesome. Marcy treated my tootsies to a wonderful massage, exfoliating treatment, moisturizing treatment, and finally a flawless and fun pedicure. This top-of-the-line pedicure was worth every penny of the $50 cost. At one point, Marcy wasn't happy with the result of her artwork on my big toe and took it off and started over. I was pleasantly surprised with her effort. After my pedicure, Marcy asked if I wanted my eyebrows done, too. Well, why not?! Having never had this done before, I was excited. Marcy did not disappoint. Love my fun Halloween pedicure! The quality is good, the salon is clean and updated, but they up-sell & under quote/ trick & confuse you.. and they don't honor a student discount. They are over priced. ($38 for a full set with regular polish?) They give you spoiled wine and take personal phone calls in the middle of your service while I'm already playing musical chairs, like how many times are you going to move me? When I walk in and ask for an acrylic fill w/ gel- just point me to the GEL polish and let it be. (Don't let me sit there like an idiot Or hover over me while I decide on the "wrong" color/polish) No one has an hour and a half for a fill when your shop is empty. Lost all my nails. They ruined my nails. My nails literally devolved into nothing under the dip powder. And the tech I had was so rough he left bruises all over my arm from his "massage ". He leaves every few minutes for smoke break coming back stinking from smoke. You have to wait at least an hour even with appt. Never again!!!! read more

Just left this salon about an hour ago. Absolutely appalled with the quality and service. I asked for my acrylics longer before he cut and the technician just looked at me. Then proceed to cut them the shorter length. He also cut my cuticle severely on two fingers. Did not apologize once. Not to mention that while cutting the nail the technician tried cutting my ACTUAL finger. My friend who was very clear that she wanted her's shorter, is not happy with her results either. Cons When we were already soaking our toes, they told us the nail polish we chose was $3 more. Again, after the pedicure was already in progress, they said it was $5 more for callus removal. Pedicure was $25 + $3 nail polish + $5 callus removal = $33. Only 1 of us opted for the callus removal, so $61 for 2 pedicures When we made the appointment, I asked for 2 pedicures together. They started mine, but delayed my friends for 20 minutes. I had to reiterate I requested them together. There was no dryer for our polish at the end. I don't like the behavior that feels like bait and switch to raise the price. I'm fine with $20-23. Most places in the St. Charles area do callus removal as part of this price. read more
