Dessert- chocolate covered cherries, they were fabulous!

I love going to this place whenever I get a chance. The owner is just so nice and he comes by to say hello. I mean, he genuinely cares about his customers and his business. The food here is always on point. We had the calamari we did the pizza, just all the pasta dishes are good. It's a great place just to be having lunch or dinner at. I've also brought family members and friends to celebrate their birthday birthdays here.

The last time I reviewed Igontz's was over a decade ago. Sadly I live a 4 hour flight away. I give very few places 5 stars but this is one of them. The decor and quality as well as the recipes haven't changed in that decade. And that's a good thing. As far as I'm concerned this is probably the place with the best Chicken Vesuvio in the city if not the Country. I think the staff is as old as the restaurant Very friendly and very knowledgeable service from folks who've worked there for years. While I highly recommend the Vesuvio the other dishes are as good and I don't think there's a thing on the menu they don't do extremely well. If I still lived in Chicago I'd be there at least once a week.

I usually never go out of my way to review a restaurant but this was exceptional. If you're looking for a family-owned delicious place to get your serving of Italian food in Chicago, this is your spot. About a 15 min uber out of the main part of the city, in the cutest, quiet, suburb lined with Italian restaurants, this place is a gem. Roger, the owner, personally came out to every single table to introduce himself and makes you feel like you're family, and they feed you like family too! The portions are very generous and the food is incredible to say the least. Special points to their famous tiramisu. I would come here a million more times if I could! This is a can't miss.

I'm calling cap. Reviews are good and a certain Instagram reviewer gave high remarks but my pizza was absolutely flavorless. I even opted for garlic & sausage on half & neither hel. Not sure f I simply ordered the wrong items from this place but I haven't had a pizza this bad in a long time

Stopped in for dessert for my birthday. The best service I've had from intro to exit! Very cozy and family like vibes inside which is perfect. From big groups to couples plenty of seating to go around. We ordered the spumoni and it was on point. Cherry toppers were so good.

My friend introduced this place to me as one of her Chicago family secrets... and now I'm putting it on blast on Yelp! Wow - it's been so long since I've been to an authentic Italian place where it feels like a mini family when you dine in. The owner was so cheerful and kept coming by to check in on every table, and when there was a birthday at the table next to us, the owner asked EVERYONE in the restaurant to sing together. That was so adorbs!! That being said, this place is a bit pricey! They start you off with complimentary bread with butter, olive oil, parm, salt, pepper, and the best of all... a roasted head of GARLIC!! I got the vodka rigatoni (added $8 for meatballs) and it only came with two meatballs sadly. Meatballs were meh nothing special and a bit too firm for me, but the vodka sauce was unlike anything I've ever had. It was so creamy yet a bit tangy yet had just a nice hint of red pepper as well? Idk how to describe but I loveddd it! Such great sauce to pasta ratio too. Also tried the linguini and clam sauce (white sauce) and risked my life because I didn't realize I was also allergic to clams and started having trouble breathing lol. But a very generous amount of clam, and the sauce is genuinely so light and refreshing. Which is RARE!!! The bill also comes with a chocolate covered cherry dipped in whipped cream - what a pleasant surprise!! This place just had the best vibes!! But I'd recommend calling to make a resy - the space itself is quite small and homey.

    Gina S.

Staff and service was an A+ They started us with the roasted garlic clove and beautiful bread, which was a nice touch and tasty. I had the Minestrone to start which was delicious. The consistency of their soup was thicker than I'm used to, but delicious nonetheless. And I went with stuffed shells for dinner. They were very good, basically what I was expecting. We were able to eat outside, enjoying both their food and wine selection. I'm looking forward to going back and trying their gnocchi.

My friend and I came here for her birthday dinner and we were very happy with our dinner. The service is a bit slow as we had to wait a bit to get seated, order, and even receive our food. But overall, the staff were all friendly and the owner came to check in on everyone at least twice. We were able to receive more bread and roasted garlic as it took awhile for them to get our order and for our food to come. I really enjoyed how the bread comes with roasted garlic which is delicious. We decided that we'd rather order three main pastas instead of ordering two pastas and one appetizer. This also let us try more of the menu. We ordered the Baked Mostaciolli ($23.95), Stuffed Gnocchi with pesto (25.95 + $4), and the Vodka Rigatoni ($25.95). We enjoyed all three pastas as they were all delicious with different sauces. We just didn't realize when we were asked what sauce to have the stuffed gnocchi that when we chose pesto out of the options, it was $4 extra. The portions are very big and the pastas come with a soup or salad which we didn't realize. Out of the three, my favorite was the Vodka Rigatoni as the sauce was very flavorful. I enjoyed the Stuffed Gnocchi and it was very filling. I normally am hesitant when I see raviolis or gnocchi's as I feel like I won't be full. But because these were stuffed and they give a big portion, we were very full. We had plenty of leftovers. They ran out of the tiramisu so we hope to try that next time as it's the most popular dessert. We enjoyed our dinner very much.

The food wad amazing, everything was super flavorful, hot and fresh. I have this ridiculous craving for vodka pasta and I was so glad I could add rigatoni with vodka sauce to my chicken parmigiana and it was perfect. The ambiance was amazing, perfect for a romantic night. Service was great, I just felt that it was a bit rushed and I understand it was getting busy and the waiter was on rush mode but he ran off a couple times after I tried speaking

Great vibe .. old school and every item we ate was incredible Chicken Vesuvio was perfect

Up until tonight, my experiences had always been positive and the food was fantastic. Unfortunately, this visit was more than disappointing. I ordered a salad I've had at least a dozen times before, accept I added grilled chicken on top. I live for this salad and was just there maybe three weeks ago. Unaware that they have changed their menu, I ordered as usual. The name of the salad has not changed on the menu, but apparently the ingredients had been completely altered. When the dish arrived, to my surprise, it was drastically different and not something I enjoyed at all. I politely informed our server, who was kind and accommodating, and offered to replace the dish. However, it was now 6 p.m. we had tickets to see The Wiz at 7 p.m. and didn't have time to wait for another order, which I also informed her. I asked if the salad could be removed from the bill since it was essentially untouched. The server checked with the owner, who refused to remove the $30 salad or offer any kind of discount. When a restaurant changes a dish but keeps the same name, it creates a reasonable expectation for returning customers. When that expectation isn't met, basic customer service should step in. What makes this even more frustrating is that the restaurant was willing to prepare an entirely new dish, but not willing to remove the uneaten one from the bill. That simply isn't logical. If you're prepared to replace an item, it clearly acknowledges there was an issue, so refusing to comp or adjust the original charge is unreasonable. That decision was extremely disappointing. I, in-turn made the decision to eat only the additional grilled chicken on top, leaving the rest of the salad, paying the full bill and promptly getting out of there so we could be on time for our show. The only positive part of the experience was our server, who handled the situation with professionalism and kindness. Sadly, the new menu leaves much to be desired and this experience has cost Peanut Park my business and my referrals going forward.

For appetizers, we ordered the While Garlic Loaf Focaccia and the Stuffed mushrooms. I wished I took a video when the focaccia arrived. The waiter, holding a plate with a round and fluffy focaccia and proceeded to pour the garlic et al on top of the bread! Very freshly-made and fabulous! The stuffed mushrooms were also cute delicious! This is a rare time where the stuffing had spinach below the stuffing - excellent! I remember seeing (and enjoying) this while I visited Italy. Delightful! The main courses we ordered were the Gnocchi Bolognese, the Baked Burrata Lasagna and the Barolo Braised Short Rib. The Gnocchi meat sauce was the standout here, being very flavorful, but not as heavy as some other restaurants. The Gnocchi were dense - not fluffy as I had expected. But the sauce flavor was vivid. The Baked Burrata Lasagna was oh, so perfect! Many layers of al dente pasta separates with a tasty meat sauce. Many times I have had lasagna that was either over-baked, or had limp pasta. Here, the lasagna shined! So large of a serving that my wife could not finish it, much to her dismay . . . I had the Barolo Braised Short Rib - oh my living god! - so tender, so complete a dish, with the fork tender meat that melts in your mouth, complimented by a light polenta (I must emphasize the lightness here, as many restaurants serve polenta that is heavy and too rich. This did not compete with the short rib, rather it seamlessly became the foundation on which the richness of the meat was enhanced. I was blown away! But, the most amazing, and probably the most delectable part of the evening was finishing off with a luscious Chocolate Cake! OH, WOW!!! The cake was certainly moist and smooth. Yes, smooth! I could not tell there was cake at all, so smooth it was! And surprisingly (not surprising given the quality of this establishment) it wasn't too sweet, rather just enough to bring out the chocolatey goodness! I only wished that I ordered some hot coffee - the cake would have gone well with a great cup of coffee! Overall, I was very impressed with this restaurant! The old-town decor, the dim lights, the fantastic food (just like of the Italy of old!)- all contributing to a wonderful experience! Highly recommended!

We closed out the savory courses with the chicken Vesuvio, nicely charred and finished with herb butter, though it ran a little light on seasoning. For dessert, a delicious tiramisu to finish. Il Porcellino was a treat, and we'll be back soon.

The weather was perfect for outdoor dining so I went ahead and booked a table for Friday night. I felt like I won the dinner lottery. Service was wonderful and I didn't mind sitting outside at all next to the road with cars. I actually never stepped foot in the restaurant so cannot comment on what it's like inside. I was really impressed by the meatball appetizers, chicken vesuvio (the potatoes are a must get as a side if you skip this dish), and branzino. The meats and sauces were wonderfully balanced and tender. Nothing tasted overly salted. Ironically, the pasta felt less of a star compared to the other dishes.
