I normally come here for the beef fajitas but I tried something new, and they did not disappoint. This is the best place for beef fajitas btw. There's a lot of flavor and the prices are fair. Waitress was very nice but the food took a while to come out. We loaded up on chips and queso by the time our food came out, we were full. The booths are a bit cramped, big chested women will have them on the table. I had the "pollo verde" and it was great! Chicken breast was not dry and had lots of flavor. It was stuffed with spinach and cheese , topped with a white wine sauce, served with cilantro rice. The salad that came with it was also good and decent in size. We came in got seated, ordered our food it was out within 5 mins, my cheese was not cooked on the inside so I asked if I could get the cooked a bit more the tortilla didn't even looked cooked, I try to not complain but I get these everywhere I go so they are usually pretty flat when cooked right. Anyways they brought me my food out within another 5 mins. It was gross but whatever I ate it didn't wanna be a pain. Alright so I was really wanting nachos for quite some time, and I usually get them from here. Normally I eat there, but this particularly day to-go was easier to deal with...or so I thought. For starters the staff is horrible. There's this older woman who scolds and belittles her staff in front of customers. I mean the high schoolers need a little guidance in the work place and w/ customer service in the food industry, but the woman was rude. The to-go people make an easy job complicated and move slower than sloths. Getting to the nachos.....they looked as though they were thrown in a box with no fucks given. Great food but the incompetence was at an all time high today! I called in to order the spinach enchiladas. The person on the phone confirms spinach only. Get home and not only do I have the wrong order but something that will make me violently sick- chicken. They remake the order in which I have to drive all the way back. I asked for at least a discount, refund, or even a coupon. They offered me queso. My full order was $40. Plus I have to make the trip twice due to someone else's mistake. I'm patiently waiting outside for my order since I placed it online. So...you're supposed to place your order (phone or online) and then park in the back of the restaurant. There are four parking spots reserved for curbside or pickup orders. You're supposed to arrive, call the restaurant (281) 860-0700 and let whoever picks up the phone know that you've arrived. I've called several times and no one picks up the phone. You may be wondering why don't I just go in and pickup my order. Well besides the fact that the parking lot is jammed packed, my immune system is extremely compromised. The Mayan Chicken is to die for at Iguana Joe's. A big slice of chicken breast, grilled, and then topped with pico de gayo and sour cream...I skip the tortillas for this dish! I don't know how long they marinate the chicken, but the flavor soaks thru and entrenches your mouth with every bite. Iguana Joe's is also one of the more creatively decorated Tex-Mex place I've been too. Heavy furniture and dim lighting makes the atmosphere very intimate. They have a full service bar so this place is not only good for family dinners, but also for dates and giggles. Another perk is their complimentary self-serve ice cream. Free dessert you can eat there, get to go, and refill as much as you want? Who can say no to that? Though to be honest I'm usually too filled up from dinner to eat more than one cone. read more

After paying over $21 for the plate I wanted to make them aware of the error. I called and was placed on a never ending hold. I've eaten here several times with my co-workers and for the most part I would say this is an OK place for lunch or dinner. The theme is unusually interesting with cartoon lizards plastered all over the walls, and they offer complimentary soft serve ice cream on your way out. Appealing enough, right? But every time I come here, I order something different and yet for some reason I feel like I've been eating the same thing over and over. I think it's because all their dishes re-use the same type of ingredient: Nacho cheese, re-fried beans, seasoned rice, chips, sour cream, chopped lettuce, and then even more cheese. Same stuff, different combination and choice of protein basically. Overall, their gloppy & crispy concoctions are pretty tasty and filling but will sure leave you feeling gassy and bloated after wards. Real typical side effect of Mexican food I say. The free chips they give you to start off with comes with two sauces: red and green. The red one (salsa) tastes terrible and nothing like salsa, but I can't seem to stop myself from eating the green "guacamole" one. I don't think it's made from real avocados though because the texture is almost like old milk but without the skin and is too brightly colored. The service is usually a hit or miss. I've had a glass of water spill on my lap from a young waiter and he didn't seem too apologetic nor empathetic -- though, I won't base my opinion on that instance. Usually they do a good job of taking orders and getting food out on the table. There just seems to be a lot of young inexperienced waiter and waitresses working here straight from high school. Personally, I think if you want really good Tex-Mex, just go to Papasitos. Iguana Joes is nowhere near close to their food or service. The only advantage they have is the cheaper price. read more

I was very disappointed in Iguana Joes as every year I host a dinner with my cheer leaders at your restaurant and I make a deposit to hold an area for us. Every year they refund the funds towards the meals purchased. Well this year the GM lady told me she would not be giving this money back as it is a fee. I told her for the past thirteen years it has never been a fee it is always returned. The GM told me I was told it was a fee. As I remained calm and pleasant I told her exactly what I was told and she insisted it was a FEE. So of course I don't want to make a scene in front of my girls so I paid the $250 bill. Plus my parents who sat in the restaurant and ate also paid their part to so they got that much more money. Shame on them for stilling from this teacher. Carma is a you know what. But since you thought your place was so amazing lets talk. My food was cold when it arrived, our waitress while pleasant was not attentive, my drink was never refilled even though I asked several times and she was not refilling the girls drink very much either. We were always waiting yet Iguana Joes felt as though she deserved a $40 tip. Won't be back on the principal of the thing and I eat there at least twice a week. I should have stopped at the appetizer. First and LAST time here. I ordered the rodriguez dinner, it wasnt very good. The fajita meat was tough, the chips were stale and the beef enchilada it came served with was NOT EDIBLE. It tasted like what pool water smells like. Gross. I told the young (obviously new) waiter that the beef enchilada tasted bad and i wasnt going to eat it. He literally said "so i guess youre done then?" And took my plate. What?. Came her for dinner tonight and was plenary lying surprised how great the food was. The menu has a lot of the same things repeated but what Mexican restaurant doesn't? When walking in, I found the aesthetic to look very similar to rainforest cafe. I was seated very promptly and they provided chips and salsa immediately. Not gonna lie, HUGE fan of the red salsa- so much so that I ate two dishes worth of the salsa. The green one I did not care for. As far as food, i went for the changitos on the appetizer menu. I didn't want too much food. However I wound up only being able to eat two pieces of it since it was so filling. It was fried tortillas stuffed with Monterey cheese and fajita meet and then queso to dip in. Very very good, just a lot! I also ordered sangria- nothing to write home about. However, my server Melanie was very prompt and good at her job. She made my experience more enjoyable. After I paid the check I noticed they had ice cream. I've eaten at this location many times and have never had any problems pertaining to the staff or food/drinks. However, during my last visit my car got broken into and when I let a manager know to see if I can access the cameras, she informed me that was the 2nd car break-in that same night. Employees also let me know it happens very often at that location and many of their own cars have been broken in to. It's sad that customer's vehicles are being damaged but more importantly employees should be able to park their car at their own place of work without worrying if they are going to come out to a broken window and items missing. Management or corporate should seriously look into hiring a parking lot security officer. read more

We were in the area and just got tickled by the name. The fun name of this Mexican eatery doesn't take away from the authentic flavorings of the food even though the decor wasn't traditional. The menu boasts a large array of options for those who aren't vegetarian . Expect to get bean burritos if so. I was pleased with by beer burrito topped with a spicy sauce. It was a large portions and came out within 5 min of ordering. It was NOT pre-made! I hope not at least haha. Nah, it wasn't. It was made fresh. It came out quickly because they were just now reopening and had a few guests. Expect to pay double digits for most meal items which isn't bad .... but it also isn't good if you're on a tight budget. It is definitely with a visit as the green salsa they give you for free basket of nachos is unbelievably tasty. It's not the typical green salsa I've had. I have had good and bad experiences with Iguana Joes in Channelview. I have gone in with family and friends multiple times and received good and great service. But every time and I have tried their take out, I have been disappointed. The To Go staff was not pleasant and did not give me a receipt and when I asked for one; they made it seem as though I was bothering them. I had to bring my food back and get a refund. One time I got home with my take-out and saw how sloppy it was put together and realized that I was also over charged for my food. It was not appealing to even eat. The food is flavorful and nice portion sizes but the ToGo is not the bees knees in any way. I refuse to sit in a resturant in this current climate, so take out is all I have to enjoy from time to time. read more

Worst meal (take out) I have EVER had from this location. I ordered Tampico Asada which consists of fajita steak, charro beans, fixins for fajitas, tortillas. The meat was flavorful, but tough as boot leather. I had to saw it with a knife. The charro beans were mostly bean juice. There may have been 20 beans. First time visiting Iguana Joe's, and I must say the food is incredible! I had the seafood enchiladas with rice and beans. Enchiladas were full of shrimp and crawfish tails and the wine sauce was amazing. Green sauce and red sauce was good. Our server was Skylah C, which was very professional and friendly. Date had shrimp and chicken brochettes with grilled vegetables which were fantastic. I live in Southwest Houston and the location is 24 miles away, but I'll be back! Highly Recommended! read more

The absolute worst and I hardly ever write bad reviews. The service is TERRIBLE! I went to two birthday parties there with about 25 people each and both times it took about two hours! Reserving ahead you would think they are better prepared.... WRONG! Both times they only had one waiter for all of hours plus they had to serve the other two tables in the room. They really need to step up their game on management. That and I spent about 13 for the "Amazon wrap combo", there was no combo about it. Basically a small burrito and that was all. Still had to pay another three for my actual drink. Overall not worth coming here. Horrible service and overpriced food. Don't even bother wasting your time here. read more

I was a little sceptical at first be a chain but was impressed by the srrvice. Im a road warrior and always eat at the bar but was disappointed when the bar was full of locals. I almost walked out but grabbed a table. A sever came over right away and took my drink order. I am a heat freak and asked for the HOT salsa. She said it comes in a big bowl and cost $3.50. I almost balked at it but gave it a try. It was a soup bowl with a bunch of roasted peppers, okra and hot salsa that was delicious and not too hot! Loved it along with the top shelf Margaritas. The appetizers were ok and didn't have any meals. At least 4 servers asked if i needed anything. One thing you might be annoyed by is they allow smoking the bar. read more
