It is what it is. I beats the pants out of staying in the barracks, but it ain't the Savoy. It is one of the old Army hotels that got privatized. Consequently it had all the charm that govt architecture has to give. The rooms are nice size, but the eco friendly ac means that they are only moderately cooler than outside. They do make an effort to have events for guests, many of whom are there for longer schools, and the laundry is free, which makes up for a lot. Between any of the barracks and this, stay here. read more

I know this is military lodging - which automatically makes the standard significantly lower than commercial hotels, but this place.....oh wow! First - I'm pretty sure this is an old hospital. If it's not, then I would be shocked and ask the folks that designed it why they made it look like an old Army hospital. The front desk area is modern, but that's about the extent of the modernization. The hallway is creepy.....reminiscent of the movie "The Shining" (I was going to freak out if I'd seen twins standing in the hallway). The rooms are even designed in the same manner as a hospital room, even the bathroom. The rooms are equipped with fridge, stove and microwave, but I was too freaked out to eat anything in the room. My colleague even had the intestinal fortitude to go down to the "basement" in the elevator and said that it was likely a morgue in another life (drainage grates in the middle of the floor, wide hallway for the gurney, etc. The breakfast the next morning was even lacking - never been a fan of the "continental breakfast". Oh, and this lodging building is sort of off the beaten path, on a very poorly lit back road, at the bottom of a hill - total horror movie set up. Again, I get it that this is DoD lodging, but this is poor, even by their standards - I will NOT be back. read more

We are staying in the Ring Hall hotel. Its nice. Staff is very nice. POSITIVE: they have 3 grills in the patio that we can use at any time. Free laundry, best time to do laundry is week days in the mornings. Free continental breakfast in the mornings. Good house keeping There is a shuttle, it takes u anywhere in the base. 5am to 930 pm. There is a out door pool. Up the little hill. $3 to get in. Fun for the kids in the summer. NEGATIVE: whenever any one let's there door slam u can hear it. And feel it. read more

The hotel is just OK. My main complaint is that you can hear everything going on outside your room. If anyone is talking at normal volume in the rooms adjacent to yours or in the hallway you can hear what they are saying. I closed my bathroom door and that helped a little bit with hearing what the neighbors on that side were saying. If I had it to do over again I'd stay off base. IHG charged me $80 a night (not including tax) here and just off base on Gordon highway there were cheaper hotels. Everything was clean. Internet wasn't spectacular. I tried to play some online games and I got lag spikes regularly. For normal web surfing it was fine though. The breakfast wasn't great. 90% carbs (pastries and bread). No meat and nothing hot. They did have hard boiled eggs, yogurt, and coffee though. I wasn't heartbroken when I slept through it the second morning. read more

Being an IHG reward member this is the worse IHG hotel i have ever stayed in. Hey stuck me in Stinson Hall (which is not in the main hotel). She didn't give me a map or directions so I had to find it myself. When I arrived it reminded me of a motel that is me using a euphemism. It looked like projects. Reading reviews all over the internet, i booked a hotel room at Griffith hall. I was worried it would be awful. It's not amazing, but it's decent for a place to sleep/eat and shower. Pipes are old, you can hear them sometimes. You seem to hear all kinds of noises, the room I'm in is one queen bed. It's small but will do since its me and my toddler son. The bathroom is super small, again, will do though. I mean the room isn't bad looking. The hallway leading to it though is narrow as can be. The place will work for a place to rest bottom line. read more

Hubby was stuck here February to June. I wish we could give 0 stars. The heat was broken in winter, a/c was broken in summer, no wifi or phones for weeks. The walls were paper thin. The front desk staff was almost never available and when they were present they were rude and unhelpful. Spent the weekend here at Ring Hall on Fort Gordon while visiting my fiancé. Check in was quick and easy and all of the staff was so friendly and helpful. I didn't have breakfast but did enjoy coffee downstairs in the morning as I headed out to meet my soldier. The fitness center was a nice bonus but only has a few treadmills and elliptical machines. I opted to run outside. My room was nice and was incredibly large and had a small kitchen with a fridge and microwave. The bed could've been more comfortable but it's hit or miss with hotels anyway so no big deal. The heat and ac could be updated as well but otherwise, I had a fabulous stay and will be back. read more

Stinson Hall: We stayed in a one queen bed room for ten days , which was not too shabby. The staff is friendly, the rooms are clean, there is a little kitchenette, and free laundry machines. Negatives: the door handle to the laundry room is broken, so it is left open. Therefore there are mosquitoes. The bathroom is super small. The desk is the only table where you can eat. The door is locked to the breakfast room, so you don't have access to any coffee, tea, or water. Positives: The bed is comfortable. There is room too keep your dog kennel out of the way. There is tile in the kitchenette. Even though the bathroom is small, the bathtub is relatively large. A good trade off in my opinion. read more

You hear everything and I mean everything from A cough to your neighbors toilet flush. The bathroom is gross! Really dirty and dingy looking man I wish I had my show shoes. The toilet has no toilet cover Sonne careful when side stepping around this tiny bathroom. The air in the bathroom does not work! I really do not get the point of having to check in at one hotel to have to drive to the actual hotel. The rooms look like old barracks rooms. If you've ever stayed anywhere nice in your life, I can not imagine how people can say this place is not that bad. They have breakfast daily but I'm not a fan of frozen waffles and styrofoam plates and plastic ware. I just drank coffee in my dungeon. Now the air in the room did not work. I literally froze my ass off night. The front desk staff was friendly but the cleaners didn't even say good morning. Avoid at all costs!!!!// IHG on Fort Gordon is terrible. To be fair, it's actually a third party IHG contracts out to run its lodges on Fort Gordon; the contractor's name escapes me, as it's only posted on a placard above the front desk of the main building. Lodging is actually split into two different buildings, one near Gate 1 that I don't remember the name of and is actually like a traditional hotel, the other in the middle of post, Stinson Hall, which is essentially a motel. The Gate 1 building might be okay, it looked shabby judging by the lobby, but Stinson Hall is terrible. I'm staying here right now until Monday, while completing repairs and cleaning my house before PCSing. The experience was absolutely awful. I checked in with my wife and kids on Thursday night, got assigned a two-bed room on the second floor at Stinson, drove over there and promptly discovered the room key reader wasn't working. After calling and waiting 10 minutes for staff to drive from the main building to Stinson, we were let in while staff fixed the reader and realized the room didn't even have curtains or a curtain rod. We were then given a room on the other side of the building on the first floor. And when I say given I mean the front desk called us and told us someone was waiting for us in the room to let us in, that we could either wait until the next day to get key cards, or I could drive over and get some myself. Seriously? I told them they could bring key cards immediately, as it was 11 at night by the time everything was resolved, and they actually did. No problems on Friday except they were replacing curtains there all day. The rooms themselves are okay, nothing better or worse than a lower end motel (I'd say Motel 6, but I've had more pleasant stays and better customer service there). Yesterday we discovered there is no housekeeping on weekends. I thought it was just a fluke until this morning when I started reading reviews of this place, so we called for more towels at around 7. It's 11 now and still no towels; I called at about 9:30 and was told it would be about another hour. A gentleman did just knock on my door and tell me he has to take off my door and shave it down. If I hadn't been in the military for as long as I have, and on Fort Gordon for as long, I'd honestly be surprised at how terrible this place is. But I'm not. It's par for the course, and of course, none of these reviews matter. As long as IHG has a captive customer base like they do on a military post, nothing will change. So if anyone ever reads this or if thinking of spending a night here, spend the money and go off post. If you HAVE to stay here, I am so sorry. Welcome to Fort Gordon! read more

Stayed on base at fort gordon for my sons AIT graduation. To get access to hotel u must come on base first. Be advised u must be on base before 8pm to obtain a visitor pass unless u have a DOD ID card. Dont stay here if ur flight comes in late and u wont make it to gate 1 of the army base after 8pm they will not let u on base even if u have a paid reservation. Rooms are dated but have a kitchen et, full bathroom and pretty spacious. It was so nice being on base and not having to deal with gate traffic before graduation. Rooms all have free wifi and free good breakfast. I really liked the free bbq they did on wed night. I would definately stay again. Only reason for the 4 star was my AC stopped working, walls r thin so everytime someone opens or closes their room door u hear it and they were unable to give me a late checkout even though they had multiple rooms available. Other then that its probably the cheapest, best hotel to stay at while coming to visit loved ones. read more

All staff members are very friendly! Fast check in and the room is surprisingly updated, compared to other IHG army hotels I've been in. I'd stay here again if I was visiting Ft Gordon. Reserved a room in a entirely different building and was sent to some renovated barracks. Walked into a room that smelled like a kennel. Carpet was damp and furniture chewed up (probably from the same source as the kennel smell). Shower was dirty and there were hairs on the towels. I really hate sounding petty, and rarely complain about anything, but after 10 hours of driving this is not what I was looking forward to. Thankfully I'm only here for a night. Definitely, by far, the best Army lodging I've ever used.

If you are in the military or retired and in a bind this isn't a bad place to stay for the weekend. On the other hand, if you are here TDY for 3 1/2 months and being forced to live here than hold on for the ride. The internet cuts out most of the time so you probably won't be able to get any work done here. there are no dampers/buffers on the doors so AT ALL HOURS you will either feel or hear a door slam shut. For some reason as of lately they have been doing "wellness checks" so your do not disturb sign means nothing in this hotel. Breakfast area is decent and it's the same thing for breakfast everyday. The shining star of this place is the cleaning ladies. They do a really good job and are very polite. If I had a choice I wouldn't be staying here and if I ever have to come back to Fort Gordon for anything I will be staying off base. Overall ok for short stay and on par for a hotel on base. read more

Stayed here twice. Their facilitates are old and run down. Yes it is clean but we did find dead roaches in some corners of the room. They serve a continental breakfast. your usual processed foods of sweets, cereal, and yogurt. It was ok. No big wow factor but for the cheap price you know you wont be in a 5 star. We just needed a place to sleep before and after a hospital visit. Also no wifi. Make sure you bring a Ethernet cord with you or stop by the PX and buy one. read more

Fair disclosure: I didn't pay to stay here at Griffith Hall (near Gate 1; hospital side), the Army put me here for the four months I spent at Fort Gordon for a school course I attended. Ring Hall and Stinson hall are different places. POSITIVE - The staff are generally very polite and personable. Perhaps because you get to know them after a couple of weeks. Ask for help, and someone will try to help. - service and cleaning to the rooms is good, though it's hard to predict when they'll show up. I don't need my room straightened every day, so I generally leave the Do Not Disturb sign out there except for one day per week (weekdays). Sometimes, no one shows up, so I wait another day. - Breakfast is free: cereals, hard boiled eggs, yogurt, coffee, juice, milk, pastries/bagels/muffins, and breakfast bars. Not bad, but not great. 0600-0900 on "school" days, 0700-1000 on weekends and holidays. - WiFi is free and generally fast enough to stream movies, though you might get some buffering during peak times like 1900-2200. There are ethernet ports available, and both of my rooms had cables in them. Never tried this. - Internet kiosk with three computers, a printer, some basic supplies. You can also get stuff faxed from the front desk. - Some kitchenettes, though with the south wing closed for renovations as of mid-Feb14, I don't know if any are available. No stoves, just a sink and cabinets. Nice for us long-stay people. Otherwise, your room has a microwave and mini-fridge in a shelf unit. - Flat-screen TV with cable - Small fitness area with 2-3 treadmills, a couple of bikes, and an eliptical, with a TV - Shuttle service, which I never used - Ring Hall apparently has some sort of buffet/social on Wednesday nights. That's cool. - decent pillows and beds; adequate towels - 2 laundry rooms with about 4ea washers and dryers. Free, though you provide the supplies. - small "commissary" with snacks, drinks, and laundry detergent - hygiene items and coffee replenished daily (if you leave your room "open") - "Day Room" setup off the lobby (where breakfast is served) is good for gatherings. We used it for class movie night and class study sessions. I've rarely seen anything else going on there. NEGATIVE (some of these are nitpicky and you might not notice unless you live here a while) - If you enjoy showers hotter than lukewarm, prepare to have your face burned off several times per shower if you choose to do so in the morning between 0630-0800. The pressure is good, but if a toilet flushes in a 1-mile radius, you're about to get parboiled for 1-3 seconds. In some rooms you can hear it coming with about a half second warning. Not in my room. This has reduced me to loud profanity on some bad mornings where I catch a hot blast in the face or somewhere more sensitive. Thinking positive, this has enabled me to amuse myself in the most petty of ways when my loud-talking, door-slamming neighbor is in the shower. Sorry, guess I was just really, really hydrated during that 10 minutes dude. (goes to next comment on doors) - The doors. The doors, the doors! Have fun trying to take a nap in the afternoon, because every time a jackass within 4 rooms of yours lets his door slam, your whole room will vibrate. While writing this review at 0700, I was reminded by my inconsiderate neighbor of why I sometimes plot to lay in wait for him and choke him out for his complete inability to simply ease the door shut. - Honestly, the place is a bit run-down. It's seen some hard use. You'll get to listen to your neighbors talk, and the shower or toilet in the next room will probably wake you up because it's LOUD. - The thermostats break constantly. I went several weeks with mine broken because of an upgrade. Four visits later, it finally works, and occasionally gets the room down to 70 degrees. It's Feb/Mar right now, with temps no higher than 75F from time to time. Glad I won't be here in the summer. - The question isn't *whether* your mail will be lost, but WHEN. When it does get lost, no one has any idea where it could be. Turns out mine got diverted to Greely Hall's mailroom, which is apparently where long-term students can pick up their mail if they choose not to use the hotel. Pain in the butt, because that mail room is a) not where I live, b) open literally 1200-1330 on weekdays, and c) likely to return your mail if you don't figure out that they're holding it for a week (or can't make it there during their stupid hours). - Sometimes on the 3rd floor west wing, it just stinks like rotten trash. No idea why, and I don't think it's from people staying there. It usually clears up the same day. read more

Ring hall: Worst two week hotel stay. The address of the hotel is not correct. After driving for two days we spent an hour driving around to find it. After we dragged in our luggage we found a sign at the front desk to check in at the other hotel because there was no staff at this one. Within five minutes of being there the fire alarm went off. It went off at least 3 times during our stay. Mold was growing all over the inside of the hotel. It was always damp and smelled like urine or vomit. The maintenance staff and housekeeping were friendly and nice. Also the most helpful. read more

Customer service is poor. First off, they credited my credit card multiple times and I had to drive to the main building to resolve the issue. The other main complain is this specific house keeper; she is rude, she got an attitude problem, and she complains about how she changes our bedsheets often, when she's suppose to do it twice a week. Stayed here for two nights. Upon arrival, the neighbors dog was barking loudly from a few rooms down. I opened the door and there was a cockroach just sitting on the bed. After killing it and trying to get rid of it, i realized that the toilet didnt flush. The room smelled like smoke and the wall of that room were peeling off. We switched rooms immediately to what seemed to be a better room. read more

I have stayed in Stinson Hall for 3 days. The room was clean upon arrival. The room had a queen bed, a dresser and a nightstand. A microwave, coffee maker and refrigerator make it convenient. The room has been kept painted properly. The bathroom is small, but the shower area is roomy. Nice use of the small space. Housekeeping does seem to check the room every day. The bed is comfortable. The room does not smell like some hotels do. The room had a desk for writing notes or working as well as a table for eating. When in the bathroom you can hear everything going on in the neighboring room. It did not seem quite as noticeable while in the rest of the room. The air conditioning seems to get the room to 72 which appears to be its limits which is comfortable. The tile on the walls seems to be kept up and nice. All but one set of outlets in the room seem to work. Certainly not the Taj Mahal but quite nice for a military hotel and not nearly as expensive as some hotels off base. Stinson Hall is directly across the street from the Commissary which makes getting groceries easy. read more
