This is a national chain, folks. There is nothing really stand out here when it comes to the food.......but the service at this particular IHOP is absolutely fabulous!! As you can tell from my check-ins, I frequent here once a week to meet up with my father for breakfast. (What can I say? He is getting old, and a creature of habit! Lol.) While there are many other places here in the Anchorage area I think we could have a better breakfast. I can definitely see why he enjoys coming here to this specific location! Our waiter, James is AMAZING!! We sit in his section every week and he knows us by name and what we order by memory! He has our pot of coffee ready when we sit down and banters personally back and forth with my father and his friend that joins us!! He really is a terrific guy! While this place doesn't boast the best breakfast I have ever eaten in my life. It does possess some of the better service I have experienced! And while the food isn't stellar, it is not bad either! So, I think as long as this continues to remain the case here we will continue to gather here for our weekly father-son bonding ritual! :) read more

Have been here three times and one of the worst places to actually try and eat. Our last visit took thirty-five minutes before our waitress came to get our drink orders. We were just about to walk out. Should have followed through with that instinct because it took another fifty minutes to get our food. That's not exactly easy when you have little kids with you. It wasn't even busy. There was maybe four other tables seated on our side of the restaurant. And at least three waitstaff on our side. Every plate had pools over grease. My bacon was slimy, and something was off tasting on my ham and egg sandwich. I got home just in time for it to come back up. No thanks. read more

Servers are extremely rude and we stood in the front for 10 mins waiting to be helped and the girl who saw us walk in asked "have you been helped" when she knew we haven't been helped. I also had an issue of the girl charging me for all of the order when we asked to split the check. there was a receipt too showing the transactions. regardless the service wasn't up to par and the environment was not friendly at all. read more

She completely ignored me when I went to the front to give her my party number and rolled her eyes and whispered under her breath when I gave her my name because she couldn't spell it. Was in here today was not very busy, Shantrel was our "server" took our order, someone else brought us our drinks she never checked on us, about 45 minutes after not receiving our food and 3 other tables that came in after us got their food and finished eating I had to go to the hostess stand and ask for our food. The host got right on it and refilled our drinks...needless to say he got the tip...shantrell was not a good server...communication is key, I am in the service industry and when a customer makes eye contact with you never ignore them! Unbelievable? I see a review that is similar to mine. Walked in at 12:30 pm, there were a few people in there, not over crowded several tables open we were seated instantly, most people were finishing up and leaving. Two of us, we placed our order the beef tip breakfast and a steakhouse burger, I wanted to try the reason they're changing there name to Ihob, for the burger crowd. After 25 minutes and seeing a few plates sitting in the window waiting for pickup, I had a feeling things where going down hill. The server grabbed a couple plates and set it down at a mans table, just down from us, he looks confused and she took it back to the window and said, refire. Now Im watching the cooks in the back, some must have been leaving because one of them was flipping and playing with his Ted Nuggent length hair right next to the guy cooking, I used to have longer hair so its not the length that bothers me its where he was flipping it. Now its after 1:00pm plates are still sitting there, the place is empty. now the server grabbed those same two plates and took them down to the table behind the guy she first served them to they were never changed. Waiting on a fricking Steakhouse Burger and Breakfast Plate.......give me a break. Some of those plate have been sitting there over 14 minutes, I know one was my friends steak tip she came over and said there waiting on my burger, I told my friend, lets walk! this is unacceptable, no, I said it 3 times, he didn't want to. I said 1 more minute, Im out of here! I see a burger set up on the window now, and she pushes the plate thats been sitting there back and says refire, the cook grabs it and putts it right back up, she grabs them and brings the over sets them down and tells my friend the eggs will be right up? the plate wasn't even complete, so she brought them over a couple minutes later. First let me say. I'm a dasher and I had 2 orders from here. My first time ever going here and I was lied to about my food being ready. So I waited and after about 13 minutes I inquired about my 2 orders which were not started yet. I had approximately 2 minutes to delivery my food to the customer which wasn't started yet. Also I left to called and talk to a manager and I was hung up on 3 times. The 4th time I cursed out whomever answered. The 5th time I called I finally spoke to a manager to tell them about they way they are running business. The restaurants in anchorage are to small for the amount of service request and every time they are business they are behind. Also they're ratings are 3.8 out of 5 for a reason. Also the manager never apologized for any of the females working the front desk for hanging up on me. I was told the only way I could speak to a manager was to call after 5pm and this was at 11am in the morning. There's a reason dashers decline IHOP orders. Please don't order IHOP thru DD they are trash. read more

While we had great service, almost everyone's meal was cold. My daughter's cinnamon roll French toast was undercooked. To IHOP's defense, however, we were a party of eight. Then again I've had good meals at other restaurants with that size party in the past. read more

Usually when I go to IHOP, I get breakfast for dinner. They have a few things that I order without opening the menu and they're always good. One evening I was amazingly not in the mood for breakfast, but since I think of IHOP as being a breakfast place, was less than excited to order a dinner item. I ordered the Chicken spinach crepes. They were amazing. I would recommend these to anyone and they were so much better than some things I've had around town at the more expensive places. Thought I'd give IHOP another chance to redeem itself after avoiding the place for the last year. Past impression was it was going downhill in areas of customer service and quality of food. You would think that by this time this popular national restaurant chain would have its act together. The guy who greeted me at the cashier station also took my order. I ordered a classic breakfast from their menu for $8.99. The 55+ Rise-N-Shine menu item included scrambled eggs, hash browns, bacon and toast. Wait time for meal to arrive seemed long, although I didn't have my timer on. It was finally served by a waitress who I was seeing for the first time. As soon as I saw fried eggs on my plate I told her I had ordered scrambled eggs. She took the main plate away but left the plate of toast. I waited again with only my glass of water and toast . . . but no jam . . . and continued reading my newspaper. She finally returned with the correct order. Toast, hash browns and bacon were now at room temperature. I asked for some jam. Then I noted the plate was pooled with cooking oil and the bacon was totally soggy with oil . . . perhaps the result of their failed attempt to keep the bacon warm by dipping it in hot oil. Yuck! I plodded on and finally finished. They never brought a charge slip to the table, so I headed toward the cashier's counter to pay. Another guy who was now manning the register couldn't get a receipt to print and had to call in another employee to help. I finally got out of there in one piece. This place needs a management overhaul. Amateurism everywhere. Learn what customer service is all about. Details matter! Get the basics down before you venture into boutique burgers.
