I'm truly grieving while writing this review. I'm grieving the loss of a once loved restaurant. Based off of my last few visits here, the vibes are all off. Every single time I come here, the staff are arguing and having loud personal conversations. There are constant dinging of bells. The seating in the back is completely unacceptable and very tight, even for my average sized, athletic built husband. The parking lot is very small. They are always short staffed and to be honest, I just get the ick coming here. To sum it up... It's very ghetto! I kept trying to give them the benefit of the doubt because the pancakes are nostalgic for me but I no longer think it's worth it. I write this while in gastric distress. We were in the area and looking for a breakfast that's not overpriced. Never had a problem with IHop. When we walked in, there was a burned grease smell. We were seated in a booth between other diners ,when the booths on the other side of the restaurant were all empty. I hate that. Growing up in the area, we have frequented this establishment many times. It has been a couple of years since I've been so we thought we'd go back. Among other issues, it was disappointing to see how unprofessional some of the staff were. The hostess who greeted us was great and accommodating, no issue with her. That being said, I get wanting to have a cohesive family-like team working together, so the employees talking was not the issue. However, not only were some of them excessively loud, things take a turn when staff members begin talking negatively about customers around other customers. I get working with the public may be challenging but it is extremely unprofessional for a person to be venting to other employees about how a custmer got on your nerves so much so that you made sure to charge them extra for everything, including whipped cream just to spite them and gleefully expressing that the customer was very upset about all the charges when he got the bill. All this while other customers are in the restaurant. In addition, cleanliness of your restaurant should be a priority. Floors were filthy with food and trash on the floor. There were other issues with our order and service which made it clear that this restaurant is no longer what it once was. With competitive restaurants that offer high quality, great service in the area, in a clean and comfortable atmosphere you may want to retrain your staff to ensure clean, professional, and courteous service. I just love IHOP, even if it is kinda dirty, sticky and incredibly squished. The food remains delicious, and that's all that matters to me at a diner chain. I've stopped into this location twice recently, and both times had the same server. (I think her name is Katie?) She was helpful, quippy and brought extra bacon without any prior request on the side of my salad since the kitchen didn't put much bacon in it. Extra bacon? Yes, yes, yes. I always get the crispy chicken salad here, which I guess is a strange choice, but it's just so darn good. My mom loves the pancakes.
