The only mistake I made was not getting the new manager's name. I loved his energy as soon as my boyfriend and I walked in the door. We were greeted with jokes and fun sarcasm! lol The lovely manager was training his new employees and the service improved immensely. Last time I dined in here which was last year, I had the worst few experiences with service being horrible because the manager at the time was not great. Hiring a good manager will definitely change the dynamic in a restaurant or business. Yesterday was the best dining experience my boyfriend and I ever had. We were all smiles and good vibes because of the genuinely positive interactions we had with the manager. He made us feel like family. As a Northwestern college student, this was quite literally the best meal I've had in the past 9 weeks. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with a friendly smile from the hostess. The restaurant was clean and well-maintained. The pancakes were fluffy and light, and the eggs and bacon were cooked perfectly. Our server was very sweet and brought us all the different syrups without us even asking. My friend and I went to this location around 11:15pm to get a late night dinner. After 5 mins of being there, we were seated. It then took another 45 mins just to place our order. Once we played it, it took another 30 mins before we got it and was still missing part of our order. When we told the waitress something was missing, she went to go get it and TOSSED it on to the table. It then took another 30 mins to get our check. The waitress finally came to get our card. She then came over after 30 mins and asked if I gave her the card. We were there for probably around 3 hours before we finally left. Wow. As a college student, this free pancake day meal was quite literally the greatest meal I've had this quarter. The buttermilk pancakes, DIVINE. The eggs, DIVINE. The hash browns, DIVINEEEEE. We got around 4 plates of food and absolutely demolished it. After having a horrific winter quarter, this is what we needed to remind ourselves of the happiness we were capable of feeling. My friend and I impulsively came here straight from the library when we realized the special was ending at 7pm. Getting this affordable yet delicious meal has been the highlight of my quarter. Service is better now. Good thing about a chain businesses, employees change pretty often. I've only been ordering a sunny egg and bacon on my cheeseburgers for the last so many years that IHOP finally got with the trend and now offers them as a standard on their menu. Hee hee. I come here because it's 24/7 and it's always been this way for years. It's written on their sign and they haven't gone back on their word like another location which I won't name. Plus when my god kids visit they love IHOP, so it's a convenience on those occasional late evenings when they're allowed to stay awake later. With IHOP, it is what it is. It's better than Golden Nugget. Yeah, live with it, I said it. You have to know that their eggs don't come out of the shell when prepared, many eggs are sitting in some kind of ready chamber. Tried a lot of breakfast sort of chains but this was my first experience at IHOP... Menu can be customized, a bit intimidating for me as there is something called as 'too many options'... My indecisive soul was in full panic. Finally, set my mind at the strawberry cheesecake pancakes, side of omelette, hash- brows, bacon and Iced tea (came with free refills) Hash browns were meh, omelette was soft, bacon was crisp, and the strawberry cheesecake pancakes were divine. I couldn't stop licking the icing. Perfectly sweet, decent amount and soft pancakes. Have also tried the chicken and waffles...uhmmm it was ok and I'll stick to the breakfast menu. Good portion, well priced, despite the rush hours I've always been seated fairly quickly, food service was alright- could have been faster considering they have plenty of staff. My server was sweet tho, patient and answered all my queries. 2 hours ago, I had a dinner with my dad. We decided having breakfast food for a sweet tooth urge. I had gone to this Ihop for some years in the past. He had the swedish crepes while I had the berry french toast brioche. Wow. Food is good and ok. But they totally remodeled the place. I feel like I am at some lincoln park lounge with the choice of furniture and decor. Not bad. I just feel the seating to be a little tight unlike before you can combine tables together to form a bigger table. Parking space is brand new so you can accomodate your vehicle with alot of space. Waittress was awesome. She was kind and very hospitable. Excellent customer service. I didnt give 5 stars because I feel the place to be narrow and small. The Ihop located in Skokie, il has a much larger square footage of seating then the one in the Evanston-Chicago border. However, they have done a good job to make the place clean and new after many years in service. read more

Overall, I'm really not a fan of chain restaurants -especially for breakfast. I hadn't eaten at an IHOP for years after a not-so-great experience once in Florida (service as slow as refrigerated syrup and undercooked food). However, I've been on this crazy strict organic diet, so I just wanted to be bad...very bad! My boyfriend and I rode our bikes to the gym and the IHOP on the corner seemed like the easiest place to get some fuel before our loooong monster ride to the lakefront area. I ordered some type of special with scrambled eggs and french toast. MMMM all those naughty carbs pulsing through my blood stream. It was actually quite tasty! I think he got some kind of sampler with lots of meat and enjoyed his food as well. The place was bustling! It was a little noisy, but that only shows the popularity. Everyone from the greeter to the manager and our server Andrea was super friendly. It totally changed my opinion of IHOP. Though I can't eat there often due to my diet, they do actually have some healthy alternatives, noted on the menu such as whole wheat french toast and egg beaters. I was pretty impressed.
