Stopped by Tacos El Norte recently and had a solid experience overall. The staff was very inviting and friendly from the moment I walked in, which always sets a good tone for a meal. I ordered the al pastor burrito. It was definitely tasty and well-prepared, with good portion size and fresh ingredients. That said, the flavor profile didn't quite hit the classic al pastor notes I was expecting. Typically I look for that balance of sweet, savory, and a little tang from the marinade and pineapple, and this version leaned a bit more straightforward and mild. Still, the quality of the food and the welcoming service made it an enjoyable visit. I'd be open to coming back and trying some of the other items on the menu. read more

We used Tacos El Norte for a work event and was not disappointed. We ordered steak, chicken and vegetable for tacos, rice, beans, lettuce, and all the toppings. It came with flour and corn tortillas, and every one commented how flavorful they were. Their salsa were spicy, but good. The churros were perfect to end the meal. Pricing was very reasonable and the food was packaged so it stayed warm and fresh. I am interested in dining in their restaurant. read more

There was chicken and beef, corn and flour tortillas, salsa, pico de gallo, guacamole, sour cream, vegetables, lettuce, cheese, beans and more. As well as chips and soda and many serving items. When our golf round got cancelled due to rain yesterday, we decided to have our lunch at Tacos El Norte which was just a little over a mile from the golf course and we did not regret it. The frozen Corona-Rita was excellent and quite refreshing. The have quite a wide selection to food platters. I have the 3-taco dinner with specialty meats (birria, lengua & tripas - $1.25 extra each). The birria & lengua meats were good but the tripas was excellent. That's what I'll order the next time we go back! I also ordered the Huachinango (fried whole red snapper) to go for my wife and was just priced right at $23 as it came with tortillas, rice & beans and a salad. Our server was quite attentive as she gave us refills for the chips & salsa. The restaurant was clean and nicely decorated and they have 2 large screen TVs playing in the background. The tacos were amazing! I had chorizo tacos and sometimes you go to a place and it's too salty. This chorizo was perfect. Some pieces even had a little crisp! I love that part. Rice and beans on the side were delicious too. Good seasoning and texture. The other thing I ordered was the tamale. I was excited but when I unwrapped it, it was hot which is good but it was pretty dry. The flavor was there but the texture threw me off. Service was great! As soon I opened the door I was greeted. She got my food and told me that they are making a fresh batch of Jamaica. I appreciate the communication. The Jamaica was great. It wasn't too sweet and it wasn't too sour. It went perfect with my meal. Tacos El Norte will be my go-to spot if I'm ever in lake bluff again! read more

Our local Tacos El Norte in Libertyville/Vernon Hills closed a number of years ago. They had a terrific patio and we were bummed when they closed. We visited several locations and were not as happy with them as they were just storefronts. And then we found the Lake Bluff location. This is an out property in a mall area in Lake Bluff (around the corner from The Silo). This location looks like a house and has a lot of outdoor seating (we sat outside earlier this evening). We have been to this location several times. The service is always incredibly friendly and the food is always spot-on delicious. And knowing that even though there are a number of locations, this is the best one and so worth the drive to visit. read more

I have repeatedly observed and experienced the demeaning and discriminatory attitude of the manager towards Latino customers at this establishment. It's truly disappointing, and frankly disgusting, to witness a Latino-owned business exhibiting such bias. The manager welcomes Caucasian customers with noticeable warmth, while treating Latino patrons--including those who share her heritage--very differently. Each visit confirms this pattern of discrimination. Tonight was my final visit. Given this consistent poor treatment, combined with the fact that the food is subpar, this establishment is absolutely not worth my time or money. I will not be returning. read more

We are frequent in person diners here, but decided to order dinner to be delivered tonight online. I screwed up and accidentally marked it as a pickup order. When I called to inquire if we could change it to delivery the owner, Caroline, tried to change it in the system, but couldn't, so she drove the order to us herself!! The food got me sick. I thought that it was fresh because they were taking a long ass time to honestly by the looks of it now just package it because it was not fresh. It got me sick. The shrimp was way overcooked it was definitely dead. The portions were terrible. The service was mid. I ordered 32 ounce of shrimp soup and there were only four shrimp and thankfully so because I would've probably thrown up more. I would give zero stars if I could. read more

I was really craving a burrito which led me here. I think the pics on yelp lured me in. My attempt to indulge in some good Mexican food landed on a Friday evening. There was plenty of room on the inside with adequate seating for large parties. I ordered and snacked on decent chips and salsa while waiting. The burrito finally arrived. I can say the portion size was huge. I ended up dividing it in two and taking the other half home. There were some good flavors present with this burrito and I ended up being full.
