Went here for breakfast with my kids. Food was late, everyone around us seated after us were eating, our server was no where to be found. We asked the host to check on our food and when it finally came my daughters omelette had a hair in it. When our server was nowhere to be found we asked the busgirl to help us. When we showed her the hair she said, 'oh do you want another omelette'? Appalled she would even ask that question, we said " ah yes". Manager brought out a new omelette minutes later and apologized. Flabbergasted that when we got the bill the omelette was not comped. I emailed IHOP directly and the autmoated email service said someone would call or email back within 3-5 business days. Two weeks went by I emailed again, and finally the manager from this IHOP called to say," sorry". Once again I was blown away! Don't think I'll be rushing back. read more

Absolute waste of time luckily I was hungry. And this is my first review and I've been on yelp for years. The initial wait for a table was normal about 5-10 minutes then we sit at are table for 30 minutes before I guess the waitress notices we have no drinks. Then she attempt to leave with just our drink order and we told her we been ready to order our food so she takes it. We waited 1 hour and 6 minutes for a Caesar salad and a bacon temptation. Mind you people came in after Me had already either left with after eating or the were finishing up. Now maybe it was a bad day, maybe it was because I am African American, or maybe it's because I had a Dallas Cowboys shirt on. Whatever the reason the service was unacceptable and the place wasn't even crowded so I don't understand. read more

Went for thanksgiving dinner, arrived around 1pm, ordered our food and around 2 the waitress said that she got delayed in entering our order, fifteen minutes later she tells us its almost done and brings out a salad that was ordered, and then after that she comes back out and says that the computer system glitched and the order didn't get put in the system... but she already told us before that it was almost done, this happened at 2:45, keep in mind it was NOT busy AT ALL. While we were there multiple groups have arrived, got their food and left. The manager came and spoke with us and didn't know how to handle it, all she had to say was sorry. If you are going to work in the food industry, you should probably know how to handle customers. Typically (at a decent restaurant) at this point they would offer to pay for your food and have it made ASAP, this did not happen, also they were understaffed, if you are going to be open for thanksgiving dinner at least be staffed, they had two waiters on the floor the entire time. very very disapointed. read more

I ate here this morning and it was terrible I had the chicken and waffles when it did finally come out 30 mins after ordering, my waffle was burnt and my chicken was luke warm. Then what I am assuming was the manager brought me a second waffle which was nice. My friend had the new Cali scramble and her toast was rock hard. We never got any drink refills odd because I only had water. I even set them on the end of the table(hint hint). Then we spent a good 20 mins waiting for the check while server after server walked by and the manager walked by at least 5 times. When we finally paid the server said let me talk to a manager to see if we can do anything and I declined. She talked to him anyways and he chose to do nothing. Used to be our "step up" choice from the local Denny's. Today, after not coming in for about 6 months, the place was near empty, numerous un-bussed tables, floor was filthy. Took 15 minutes to get our drink order, a half hour to get our food. The bussers came out every now and again and worked one table - sloooowwwllly - then would disappear, leaving numerous tables still dirty. Waitress we had (Tabitha) was generally unattentive, her uniform front very dirty. The other waitstaff was nowhere to be seen most of the time. People sat and waited for drinks and food as long or longer than we did. Have never seen this IHOP so empty during the summer months at lunchtime, have never had to wait more than 10 minutes for our food since it opened several years ago. Can't imagine we'll choose this restaurant first ever again. Probably won't even get our second choice. So disappointing - used to be a great choice. read more

Well done IHOP. Nothing like having 50+ high school debaters, coaches and friends descend on you with no warning. By the time I arrived, you were handling it well, and I heard no complaints. While we try to give some notice, last night's plans feel through and IHOP was the go-to for feeding hungry teens. Food at IHOP is food at IHOP; I'm sure everyone has their opinion. Not impressed, usually I enjoy IHOP but this place... maybe it's just me but they did a sloppy job on the iced coffee... it was way too sweet at the bottom, now I could of been specific but any other ihop makes it just right. Today was the 4th time we have been to the Mt Vernon restaurant and it just isn't getting any better. Service was super slow although there were few guests when we arrived. The food was very good once it arrived and the coffee was excellent. However the ladies restroom appears to need a good scrubbing and the dining area carpet was disgusting with lots of stains and in need of vacuuming. We have been patrons of Ihop since 1964 and although we were excited to see one coming close to home we will not be visiting anytime soon and will be going to the Bellingham location where we have never had a complaint. The food was alright but the service was pretty slow. Sure they were friendly but they didn't give us any forks and napkins and we had to ask them three times so we could eat our food .. Not to mention they gave us pancakes instead of French toast. We asked if we could get French toast instead and she said she would talk to the server and fix things but she never did! Pretty much only posting this review to provide my own experience with wait time... To contrast with the other reviewers that had negative experiences with wait time. My brother and I ate there on a Saturday morning. We had no wait to be seated. We ordered pancakes, a California egg thing, oj, bacon... The usual stuff. It arrived within minutes... Like under five minutes. The service was good... Friendly professional, and not overbearing. The restaurant was extremely clean, and not weird looking like those old ihops. The food was exactly what you'd expect from a decent ihop. Nothing to right home about, but perfectly decent. read more

Second time in! Both times around 11:00 a.m. Matt was server, Wendy manager. Slow slow slow service both times in! Good food! Instead of all persons receiving food at the same time, the food came out in shifts, people eating and partly done when other persons food finally showed up! Not good! Both times the server apologized saying they had just had a big rush! Sooo, Kitchen needs to be more prepared for this happening and management should be seeing and recognizing and fixing the problem. One of the servers told me "if you come back at night it will be much faster!! Really! I only take the time to write this hoping that the "powers that be" will look into this situation and make it better for my next visit. We went out for dinner at IHOP and it was busy but not packed it took about 10 minutes to get our drinks, about half an hour to start gettin our meals it was three adults and two children and they started bringing our food one by one and after 15 minutes we were still waiting for one adult and one children, (you know how kids get when the are hungry) finally after 20 minutes our order was complete and I could not eat because I was really upset, then the manager came and offer a 12 dollar discount wich I did not take and after asked for the check, it took ten more minutes to get my card back and when I looked at the check I got charged for two kids meals that souposed to be free beacause it was some kind of special so they charged me 12 or 14 dollars more but I did not complain because I wanted to get out of that place and I am never coming back!! The food was good but service was lacking. Server acted like she was forced to work. Never returned to refill our drinks. No one came around to ask us if we were done. We watched customers be seated, eat, pay the bill and leave. At 20 minutes we went to the hostess and asked for the check. When she brought the check it was wrong. It was not busy but the hostess was running around being a server while people were waiting to be seated. Our server came out of the kitchen couple times to only watch the hostess do her job. If she was on a break then let your customers know.There was no apology for the wait or thank you for coming. They have lost us as customers. read more

The meals for our kids (under 3 years) was Luke warm and the plates were hot enough to burn them. I tried to get our server or any staff to replace them, but no one came to the floor for over 5 minutes. There were but a couple servers to handle a large number of customers, which caused a backup of orders in the kitchen and delayed our other meals. We ordered coffee and water when we sat. We got our coffee but no water. One of the other servers or manager took a second request for water halfway through our meal and failed to meet that request. We finally saw our server at the end of our meal and took a third request for water. Awful concern for customer safety, management oversight for staffing caused many issues, and attention to customer's basic requests was dismal. I sent this info to IHOP corporate a week ago and had no response. read more

Greeted and seated right away. Waitress took our order, which we received rather quickly. Then in the next 30 minutes that we were there, never saw her again. Nobody asked how it was or if we need anything else. After waiting 10 minutes for our bill, we finally had to go to the front counter and request it. The lady said "oh, your waitress went on break". This IHOP w as great my waitresses were andrea and sassy. The service was great, friendly and attentive. The food was hot and prompt. The restraunt was busy and still was served when I was seated. Had the breakfast samplet with blueberry pancakes and was hot and prompt the pancakes had lots of plump blueberrys in them the mgr came around to check on customers and if they needed anything. The atmosphere was relaxing and inviting. I would come here again oh yes this was a place to eat. My occupation is a truck driver so if this was good you csn take that to that to the bank. read more

Our server (Michelle) brought me cold (not even warm) food. I asked if she could reheat it and she took it back to the kitchen. She returned with just my eggs and bacon and said they were remaking the waffle. My eggs were over easy but after she returned them they were over hard as rocks! ( microwaved maybe). My waffle didn't get there for 5 more minutes. The manager said he could give me a discount " if I wanted one". He made me feel like I was looking for a freebie. :(. five stars would be a place that serves fancy wines! My family and I stopped in last night for dinner and were very impressed. The server, Lupe, was fantastic. You could tell she worked for probably most of the day and still managed to not only offer up a smile and pleasant conversation, but stay on top of our order. This is a restaurant? Our food was absolutely terrible. The only reason I'm giving it one star is because my almost two year old loved his waffle and our server Wesley was polite and accommodating. I ordered the Bacon Bleu Burger and my husband ordered some spicy chicken sandwich and we split both to share. My burger was so incredibly dry, I didn't have enough water to choke down a bite. The only veggie on it was a heaping pile of wilted lettuce. There was a tiny smear of mayo, but I'm sure that only added calories and no real flavor or purpose. The chicken sandwich had good flavor from the peppers and onions but the chicken was so thin, I hardly got any after the first bite. Also, it was drenched in hot sauce. I love hot sauce but it was literally the only thing that I tasted besides the peppers. The only redeeming quality of our meal was the onion rings. Crispy and good, like Red Robin. My son is not picky when it comes to waffles so I'm glad he enjoyed his portion of the meal. We will not be returning though. :( read more

12-22-13 Just returned from I-HOP in Mount Vernon. I had been watching the commercials for the Crepe Cake. I received my order and the cake was at least 1/3 as large as the one on the commercial! It was a very small slice, not anything like the ad on TV. The taste was heavy, way to much cream cheese. Not anything like I thought it would be. I guess I learned my lesson for watching commercials and expecting the same portion and flavor! read more

I love IHOP & was super excited to see one coming to MV. I have only been there twice & it is doubtful I will return. The first time was for lunch a couple months ago. There might have been three other tables besides us. It took over 15 minutes to get our food. When it arrived, my bacon was grossly undercooked. I love bacon, but even I couldn't eat this. There was no staff to be found. Our waitress finally came back into view when we were almost done with our meal. I showed her the bacon (which she should have noticed before she brought to me) & she insisted on bringing me new strips, saying she would've fixed it immediately if I'd told her sooner. Uhh... how could I tell her if I never saw her? So we had to wait again, this time it wasn't too long & the bacon was still not cooked as much as I'd like, but it was edible. Fast forward to this past Saturday night. We thought they might have had an off day before & decided to give it another shot. There were about 10 other tables. Our order was taken promptly. My boyfriend could hear the man behind us complaining. He was telling his wife he didn't want to leave a tip. When the waitress came over he complained to her about the things bothering him. We ordered an omelet, scrambled eggs & bacon, & each had 2 of the seasonal pancakes. It took almost 30 min to get our food. When our food finally came out the waitress first tried to give it to a different table (the second time we'd seen that happen since we'd been there). My pancakes were missing, but the waitress said, "Your PUMPKIN pancakes will be right out." A moment later a different woman came out & sat eggnog pancakes in front of me. I told her they weren't mine. She said, "Eggnog pancakes?" I said no & began to say that I had ordered pumpkin, but didn't get to because she cut me off saying, "That's what it said on the ticket." Then she stomped off. Our waitress came out another moment later with my pumpkin pancakes apologizing for the mix-up... personally I think the other woman was the one who needed to apologize since she made the mistake & cut me off when I tried to tell her what flavor I ordered. Just after this, a couple that had come in maybe 10 min after us gave up and left, presumably because the food was taking so long to arrive. Not one employee noticed. I had asked for extra crispy bacon this time. It was cooked satisfactorily, but not even close to extra crispy. The food was good. While we were eating, a man at another table got up with his plate & started heading toward the kitchen. An employee who appeared to be playing on her smart phone stopped him & asked where he was going. He said he was looking for ketchup because he was tired of waiting for it. A woman came to check on us twice, that was good. I asked for more water, the glass that was brought to me had another woman's lipstick on it. No thank you. Nobody ever came back to the table after that, so I told the woman when we paid. She said I should've let her know, but she hadn't been around! The glass passed by the dishwasher, then by her when she poured my water. The lipstick was bright pink. How two people missed this is beyond me. It's a shame that this place is so terribly run. I guess if we want IHOP we'll be going to Smokey Point. We've been to that one several times & never had a complaint. read more

I've been to this iHop a couple times and each time has been unimpressive. The service is super slow despite there barely being any customers, and then after a really long wait the food is barely warm and lack luster in flavor and presentation. Bacon was cold even after coming out after the rest of our food. Omelette was warm at best. It was not worth it at all, never again. read more
