This place is alright but definitely not the best. The parking was such a pain that we drove back home (not to far away) and walked there. There parking lot is tiny and probably doesn't even hold the amount of people the restaurant seats. I got biscuits and gravy which was a mistake. Gravy isn't hard to make from scratch, its like 3 ingredients. You could tell the gravy was pre-made and frozen or they just really really suck at making it. Also, the biscuits weren't good. Something tells me these to were pre-made, frozen and then popped in the oven to be served. My fiance got their hash browns with her meal and had them put cheese and sour cream on them, that was really good. I have been to this location a few times now. the first two were enjoyable experiences with out much to complain about, but nothing to really write home about...our waitress was a doll. very personable and sweet. im not sure of her name... this last time i went here, i was really turned-off by the fact that the host kept coming over to my friend and i and trying to make the kind of dumb conversation guys make when they dont know what to say - but their trying real hard to hit on you. casual conversation is nice, and asking how one's day was is nice, but this guy was totally trying to hit on us. it was pretty harmless but was pretty annoying. i would have rated this place a 5 for the service we received the first couple times being here, but bumped it down for my most recent visit here. chances are i wont be back....at least not any time soon... read more

We patiently waited behind them to put our name in, when a group of girls who knew the host walked up and got checked in before us! Came here for a quick breakfast, left so happy. What could I say? Food was fresh delicious, bacon was crispy and meaty , sausage was juicy and full of flavor. I got French toast and pancakes and was in love. Both cooked to perfection, tasted amazing better than homemade. Haven't been to IHOP in years but have to more because it beats Denny's by a mile. Unfortunately in my town there is no IHOP so I savored this little detour so much. This location made everything perfect oh and the service was above and beyond as well! Definitely worth the full stars and will go out of my way to visit this location if the food and service remains this way! read more

If you're looking for crepes and Pancake this is definitely heaven on earth. I had a crepe here and it was a little pricy at first only until I tried it that I knew it was worth every penny. I tried it at dennys and carrows but it was not the same. Ihop is known for their crepes / omelets and pancakes. The service was extremely friendly and i got all that I needed. Overall I had an amazing experience here and would definitely visit again soon. read more

Tori M was a horrible waitress. She sat us down and then walked off. She then stood at the counter from what it looked like from a far was flirting with the cook. She kept making eye contact with us at the table while she was talking to the cook. We were trying to get her attention to tell her know we where ready to order. I have been going to this place for years, and the food and service are consistently good. They now have calorie counts on their menus too, which comes in handy if you're trying to watch your weight and remain healthy (and who isn't?). It's very handy to have at least one 24 hour diner in DT San Jose. The one thing I am not crazy about is the bright lighting. Who wants to be brightly illuminated at 2AM? I know it's just a coffee shop, but it would be great if managers/owners thought about ambiance a little more often. While I have come to avoid Flames (for reasons covered in another review) I did like the subdued lighting there...when I used to go there. The food is much better at IHOP. There were cockroaches!!! My boyfriend and I went a couple of nights ago and while sitting at the booth by the window, I noticed a cockroach on the outside of the window. My boyfriend calmed me down and said it was outside so I brushed it off. BUT THEN two minutes later I saw one scrawling on the wall INSIDE the restaurant. IT WAS DISGUSTING. And what did the staff do? Our waiter tried seating us at another table...I could't believe it, he really thought I would stay there after knowing theres cockroaches all over the place? GROSS. I go to this IHOP almost every weekend. Sure, it can be loud, but really. Families go there. Don't tell me your family hasn't ever been loud. The food is always good, and we never experience any problems with the waiters and waitresses. The closest thing to a problem was our bread was late. Woah. I had one of the new burgers, and I said out loud, "Mhmm. This IS a tasty burger". Now, do I think it was tasty enough for me to get behind this supposed name change of the entire chain? Not by a long shot. You see, IHOP is one of the only major restaurant chains in the U.S. that specializes in great pancakes. It says so right in the name. It is an iconic establishment, and goes back to 1958. For the owner to SERIOUSLY be thinking of changing the name, and entering the world of burgers, is a monumental and money-losing endeavor. There are FAR too many massive, and little, burger chains, and local burger eateries across the country, that would put anything that IHOP could offer to shame. The burger industry is already over full, and does not need another contender, no matter how tasty their offerings are. It is enough for most customers to be happy knowing their beloved pancake house is offering burgers, too, but to change the name is sacrilege. Changing names to FEATURE said burgers would be like KFC changing its name to feature cookies! IHOP's leaders need to learn that they should never tamper with firmly established brands. Learn from history. Or are they too young to remember the New Coke disaster from the 80's? read more

Today I decided to come eat at this place with my brother, and two cousins. Three of us ordered the splash berry lemonade. When we ordered refills the server told us that there were no refills for these lemonades even though the menu specifically marked this drink with the free refills mark. Even the IHOP website says that there are free refills! This happened before we ordered more fries which the server forgot until we reminded him. I grew up next to this place, and as a kid you love pancakes so it was the best. Now that I'm older, I've had the chance to taste other, better things, and my opinion of this place has changed. If you're coming here for pancakes, you can't go wrong. Ihop has many different verities, not the normal stuff your mom would make up on the stove. But sadly, that's the only thing they have mastered. The rest of the food is MEH, what you would expect for paying less than $10 for it. I needed a quick, easy to park place to grab a bite to eat after taking my dad to the dentist and before dropping my daughter off at SJC... IHOP it was. This IHOP is SUPER busy as opposed to ours in the Redwood City area. They do an excellent at getting people seated in a timely manner! The service is excellent, the food not so much . If your thinking of getting 1 egg and 2 pieces of bacon, you might want to triple that! It was truly the weakest example of a scrambled egg and bacon I've ever been served. My dad had a Colorado omelet that was enormous and looked terribly unappealing. On the other hand, my daughter had what I think was cupcake pancakes.... they were topped with frosting... she devoured them! This place might not be in the nicest SJ neighborhood and may look a bit shabby from the outside, but you're looking at the premier IHOP in the entire South Bay area - bar none! Julio B is the man! He's the one that kind of looks like the reggaeton artist Don Omar. The chef they have kills it every time. The worst iHop I've had, ever. There is no doubt that IHop is my go to place for an American restaurant, and I just love everything in there. Every time my mother and I go to IHop and order a coffee, my mother asks for a small portion of milk instead of creams and sugar. The waiter here refused to bring her the milk, and said that she must pay in order to receive that extra service. WHAT? Not only that, I paid $4 dollars for a house salad, all I have gotten are a few pieces of rotten cabbage leaves, and I am not exaggerating at all what so ever. They refused to change the salad for me, once again. Once we got our entree, it was clear that they were very poorly cooked. Omelettes broke apart the moment I put my knife on top of it. Not to mention, most of the fillings were potatoes, not meat&veggie as I have asked for. I came here on my birthday and it completely ruined my day and I wanted to throw up afterward. I'm pretty disappointed about the hostess Priscilla. We were all seated down and waiting a good 7 minutes for our server to take our order. I ended up asking Priscilla who passes by, if we could get service and she completely ignored me. It wasn't until somebody else in the group asked and the hostess finally responded. The worst part was Priscilla was telling one of the bussers, "let them walk out," in response to us wanting to put in our food order. All I can say is, I really hope management does something about Priscilla's attitude. I understand it's late, but having good customer service comes first, no exceptions. read more
