Look, it's an ihop. So of course it isn't 5 star breakfast food. But this 5 stars comes from it's comparison to every ihop and breakfast place in San Jose I've been to. No one has kept me waited on so attentively, sered me incredibly good food, and kept me taken care of at 10:30 pm. The omelet and other breakfast foods like the stellar pancakes (I got red velvet but with chocolate chips inside-next level) were pretty astounding, especially when you don't expect it. Overall a good experience, parking was hectic only for a few minutes, and people seem to come in waves. THE FOOD HERE IS DELICIOUS!!! Although I never received my bacon side dish, I was still pleased with the service and food. All of the workers and servers never failed to be kind and never fail to give me my food fast. This may be a little biased because I love Ihop in general, but the service was very nice. as for the bathrooms, they were very clean and tidy. No messes in the bathroom, which pleased me. I am obsessed with this place! It's the perfect place for me to grab a quick, inexpensive and tasty lunch! MMmm, mmm, mmm....their burgers are really delicious! Juicy and seasoned just right - I don't know what they do to their burgers but they taste soooo good! I've ordered the bacon and avocado burger but the avocado comes in slices on the side and always seem to slip out of the burger, the last time I went I just got a regular burger and was equally satisfied with my choice. I should also add that the bun us fluffy and tastes flavorful, too. All dressings come on the side. read more

Gotta love those promotions. Where else can you get delicious pancakes with your choice of eggs, bacon, ham, sausage for less than ten dollars. Yeah Ihop ain't no fancy restaurant but it fills you up and its cheap. I like IHOP as a general rule. But seriously, this place needs to do something about the speed of which it delivers it's food. Maybe this is a by product of being a franchise, or maybe it's because this place is attached to a hotel. Whatever it is, it's obvious they need to hire more people or improve their work flow. I came here today because on a fluke we woke up super late. My g/f wanted some pancakes from IHOP. The closest one is here in downtown San Jose. We came the right time, no wait and found parking (around noon). Got sat right away. Our server lets call "Ng" (actual initials) asked we wanted to something to drink to start. Let me just saying a food industry veteren, that I know the drill when they are serving. I never try to ask for special orders, or extra sides after the server has asked "if there will be anything else?" and has walked away. I just order, eat my food, ask for the check and pay. The last person I want to be is a problem customer. Drinks come right away, g/f orders the a breakfast combo with a side short stack pancakes. I order a low cal veggie egg dish. So the food comes out maybe like 5 min later, and "NG" tells us that pancakes are almost done. I figure another min or two. No big deal. So we begin to eat. 5 min go by no pancakes. I can totally see the food line, and nothing. Our server even sat another table next to us, single lady. Was ready to order. 5 more min later, her food and PANCAKES are out, and still none for my g/f. A min later another plate of pancakes goes past us (again taken by our server). I flag him down and ask where our dish was that we ordered, he surprised we had not got him. If he had bothered to just check our table before the other lady was served, he might have noticed, maybe. He goes back to the food line and speaks the cook in Spanish where his order of pancakes were. Cook says he never got the ticket. 2 mins later they finally come out. At this point I am done with my food, and so is she. He never said was sorry for the error, or even try do something to make us happy on the whole thing. Look buddy I know ur busy, and not a lil old lady who is gonna nickel and dime you and ask for a hotter cup of coffee every 2 min. But come on. Seriously pay attention. Never going back to such mediocre service, food was just okay nothing special. Last thing Jeff the host made me wait to pay because he was writing something down that was so important that he could not take my money. Did I mention there was no one in line either. I have been coming to this IHOP since I was a kid, and the building is older than me!. haha I used to live off first street, but will still drive to this one. They got 5 stars because they just went 24-HOURS!! Nice to have another option besides Denny's or Carrows. The service has always been great and down to earth. Been coming to this place for a while and just recently started actually checking in. Waffles and just the food in general is freaking great. Specially if you been going to Denny's a whole lot more times then you go to Ihop. Downfall is that the parking lot for this place is really small, so if its during a good rush, good luck finding parking. Other than that, would go whenever i can! read more

Love that it's 24 hours and convenient to get to. I went in around 0530 and my waiter was very attentive and helpful (if he's not available he said, just ask the cook who would help me) - so 5 stars for him. Also, I asked a question on the menu and his initial answer was 'no' but then after I gave him my order he came back and said he'd been wrong, did I want to change .... thanks, I will! I had high hopes for my visit to IHOP last night, but left disappointed on several levels. The traditional A-frame IHOP has been nicely remodeled in the recent past and was very clean and bright. The hostess was welcoming and sat us immediately at a comfortable booth. We both ordered our favorite Swedish pancakes/crepes with a side of ham for me and a double side of sausage links for my wife. It was surprising how quickly the food came, but even more surprising that the pancakes were only slightly warm and the sausages and ham were room temperature. We sent the sausages back to have them warm it up but she came back a couple minutes later after obviously microwaving them and they still weren't remotely hot. She took them back to have them grilled more. Over the next 7-10 minutes we asked twice where the sausages were when she finally brought them back saying they cooked new ones which was a lie since one still had a bite out of it. Also I wasn't happy having to get the attention of the servers by waving frantically while they were chatting up the cooks. The Swedish pancakes were reasonable, the side of ham was tasty but a very small portion (e.g. half of a pretty thin steak), and the sausages were good once they were properly heated. In a nutshell: o Decor/Building - 4 Stars o Food - 2 stars o Service - negative 4 stars Final score - 2 stars. Probably won't go here again. Too many superb options around without customer service issues. read more

You guys are awesome! I hate chain places but this place saved us from a terrible sushi dinner earlier in the night. This place never fails to satisfy a late-night-after-the-club-drunken-hunger. Been coming here for more than 4 years, always liked the food its great. The manager in the am mexican young man was a jerk though, asked him if i could substituded my hashbrowns for some toast since its about the same price (my bf is a manager at another restaurant and i know these things). I'm just in love with this place! Location is eh.. But the place is just so cozy and service is amazing. I ordered the most complicated thing ever, pick-a-pancake combo but upgraded to the raspberry white choco chip pancakes but strawberry instead of raspberry. No eggs, just bacon and a salad. Yeah, I was a pain in the butt but they kept their cool, smiled and seemed like they really didn't mind the complication. But everytime I come here for a late night, my food is on point and service is on point. This location just makes me so happy! read more

My friend and I were craving breakfast for dinner the other night and we came here for the first time. The first thing I saw when I sat down was the silverware and how dirty it was. Now I have worked in a restraunt before and I know sometimes the dishwasher does not always do the best job but it was so obviously dirty that you think they would be embarressed to put in on the table. I've been here about 3-4 times? Well, they were all quiet "ok" experience. Food were decent, but sometimes their scrambled eggs arent fully cooked all the way.. their bacon, hash brown and pancakes are always very well cooked though. And the severs, well, they don't check up on you. Just when they take your order, give you your food, and when you approach them so you can leave. I just think this place needs more friendliness and better parkin, everything else are good and neat looking read more
