I don't really go to IHOP a lot, I love how beautiful it was outside (Recommend eating outside, I would love if IHOP would make their ice vanilla coffee less sweet (even tho it's already comes in it ) I wish my waiter could've maybe suggested to top it off with a little bit regular ice coffee to make my experienced better, so if you get a ice vanilla coffee and your not a fan of having so much sweetener don't get it .stick with the regular ice coffee another then that my waiter was amazing!!!!! Called on a Saturday to make reservations for 9 on Sunday morning and young girl who answered the phone said yes and confirmed my reservations. Come Sunday morning and we get here and they told us they don't take reservations and there was nothing they could do about it. Unlike many other chain restaurants, Everything that came out looked exactly as it did in the picture, and tasted delicious!! Bavarian cream filled donut with fresh strawberries dipped in French toast batter and griddled... uhm what... Everything we ordered was so good. Even better, the host was so sweet and smiley. The busser Jose kept our tea, coffee, waters refilled at all times, and our server Kyle was a rockstar, great personality! Couldn't have been better service! Not worthy of any Stars ... I was here in the middle of last week on Vacation, usually wouldn't go to a IHOP , BUT i didn't know my way around Santa Barbara , so I stopped for Breakfast. I ordered a 2X2X2 Pancakes and eggs and bacon. When I was Served the Pancakes, I noticed a small bug on my pancakes and then I seen another of the same type of bug crawling around, There was no waiter around and I should of sent back the food but I was a bit disgusted of what was crawling around my pancakes and left a 10 dollar bill and left. The waiter said the breakfast came out to 14 bucks an we walked back inside and he inspected my pancakes and said that he sees no bugs on the food. He said he would have to pay for the food if the bill is not paid. I paid the reminder of the bill and left, If there was two bugs of my pancakes, I would bet theres more where they came from. Thats a serious environmental health issue, , wouldn't go back to IHOP Santa Barbara again. Very poor experience. read more

Of course a restaurant like IHOP would never stand a chance with the hipster millenials who frequent yelp. But there's a reason there's an IHOP chain and the overpriced, hipster, kale-serving, vegan, hole in the walls can't stay in business. The food here is predictable and good. Coffee is my favs of any breakfast place. Don't buy into the hype of the hole in the walls. Went for breakfast and ordered chicken Florentine crepe which is what I always order. Came out swimming in oil. I asked to re make came out the same way. I chose to eat brunch at this establishment on Sunday June 28th 2015 at around 12:30pm. I ordered the Sweet Creamcheese filled crape "create your own combo". This was supposed to include two strips of bacon, two over medium eggs, hash browns and a sweet creamcheese filled crape with rasberries and whip cream on it. I also ordered a pot of coffee and a glass of orange juice. The coffee and orange juice came promptly and was satisfactory. The food took a long time to come. When it arrived the only thing that was right was the bacon. The eggs were botched. they came popped with the yolk exposed as if they had been ignored on the griddle just a bit too long. The hashbrowns were only crispy on the very top while being mealy, undercooked and luke-cold on the bottom. Pretty bad but I was really hungry and I ate it anyway cursing to myself and looking forward to my crepe. Finally I cut off some of my crepe to eat it. It was the wrong one. It was filled not with cremecheese but weird tasking banana goo. someone had messed it up. I don't even think that is a menu option. Anyway I hate bananas so when the waitress came back I told her about the poor quality food and incorrect crepe. I requested a replacement crepe that was correct. She insisted that It come separated into bowls and that is how it arrived on my table. As if to suggest that additional assurances against my unreasonableness be made by separating it into parts when I had already explained the problem. I had originally intended on ordering more food as I was still a little hungry. But not after this treatment. Nope. When she brought me the check she curtly used the phrase "have a nice day" as if it was my fault that the food was poorly prepared or that I was being unreasonable. I know I was not. I explained all the problems with the food politely and was not rude. I put my card out with the check and it took a long time to get attended to. This was a crappy experience of eating breakfast. After this it will be a long long time before I try eating at this establishment. If the manager of this place is reading this I suggest they improve employee training or maybe replace some people. I would rather have waited a little longer and received an acceptable product than had an unacceptable product delivered to my table by unacceptable service. read more

What can I say, it's IHOP! Eggs over medium with hash browns and a side of pancakes is what I got. Hash browns were overly crispy, but everything else was just OK. Hub E. got served cold sausages and eggs cooked the wrong way. Waiter thought we said sunnyside up when we asked for scrambled, how you get that mixed up I don't know. Normally I wouldn't review an IHOP but on the slim chance that someone wanted to get info on an IHOP pre visit I feel this IHOP deserves some props. 1. They have outdoor seating next to the road with some decent people watching. 2. The service was fast and super friendly and the restaurant was spotless. 3. And this is the main reason for the review, they have literally built the place around a giant tree that is over 100 years old. There is glass around it in the middle of the restaurant and it exudes out and around the rest of the place. It fascinated me to no end and if you are looking for some outdoor breakfast on a nice day I think it is worth checking out. I thought it would let me post some pics but I guess it wont. We had a late breakfast here while drinking my coffee I noticed something on the inside of my coffee mug. I couldn't make out what it was it want milk it want coffee what was it? I took my fork and picked at it was something slimy. I definitely got turned off by that even before I received my food. I asked the waitress if I could please have a clean mug because their was something on the inside of my cup that shouldn't be there. She didn't apologize she just took cup and brought me a new cup of coffee. Cleanliness is very important for a restaurant, keep dishes clean!! read more

I stayed at the La Quinta nearby, and was thrilled to see an IHOP so close. The first morning my party wakes up, and we walk the hundred yards to have breakfast. It starts off alright, the staff is nice, ect. They bring out the food in a timely manner... Then BAM! Out of the corner of my eye I see something on the table. I focus in, and it is a ROACH. It is crawling all over and hiding under plates and the sugar container. Gross. So I jump up and am terrified. I obviously don't want to finish my meal that I ate less than half of. The manager eventually comes over and I tell him what happened. He was very defensive and minimally apologetic. He gave me the impression that he didn't believe me, and said that they treated the building for bugs and roaches so there shouldn't be any. -Why would I make this up. My husband and all of my friends were with me. I was hoping for a nice breakfast and start to our day. He offers us a 20% discount on the bill. I didn't want to cause a scene, so I just accepted it. Really, I don't think we should have paid for anything considering that I couldn't finish my meal. If I saw a roach in broad daylight (which is rare), think of how many of them there probably are. Anyone looking for the perfect casual family dining experience should come here religiously (no pun intended). IHOP's atmosphere immedately assumes that children and adults of all ages will be a welcome addition to the dining experience and the prices are perfect for those family providers that feel the need to pinch pennies as long as you ponder the menu carefully. And the best part? No matter what you order here, you will not go away hungry after eating this always freshly prepared food, the restrooms and tables are immaculately kept and if you need either very specific or extra accomodations, all of the staff seem to step up to the plate and are ready to oblige. read more

Out of all the Ihop locations in town this location is by far my favorite in Santa Barbara and my experience yesterday further proved it. Went in with my family for a Sunday brunch and the service we received was beyond my already known expectations for this place. It was a slow afternoon and we came in with my son in his stroller and unexpectedly they took us to a secluded location so we could place my son's stroller how ever we would like. In addition the server was the least bit neglectful. Excellent service along with very enjoyable meal. I wish I could've remembered the names of those who served me. As a manager of a business myself, if I were the manger of this Ihop location I would be looking into getting those employees raises. Employees like those are ones that need to be kept around as long as possible! read more

I do not even think I would put one star for the terrible experience we had. First off, the hostess Gloria or Sigario practically ignored my husband and I. Upon arrival the hostess just said "oh two?" We said yes. Then another patron walked in and was seated right away by the other hostess. My husband and I kindly stated that we were there first, then the hostess made a rude remark and seated us in a place that we weren't supposed to be seated in. I believe about 8 minutes passed til the waiter acknowledged us and said "one minute" not even bothering to properly greet us. By this time we got tired of the disorganization and unprofessional staff we got up to leave. My husband waited to speak to the manager Aaron who was not very helpful either. It is understandable that it was a busy time and we know how it is to work in the service industry however this is s business and at least treat your customers with respect. read more

Came in on thanksgiving morning with my family of five. We were seated quite fast,however That was the only positive side of our experience. Our food took longer than half an hour, granted it was busy but the issue here was that the food was definitely sitting on some heat lamp for all that time because when it came out to us it was cold and stale. The waiters only excuse was that it was busy! He only brought our food out when we had to ask another sever why it was taking so long. The manager Chris was no help at all they need to train him and his staff on customer service! Instead of resolving the issue he continued to argue with us as if we did something wrong. Other tables got their food way quicker than ours even when they ordered 15 to 20 minutes later! I remember him saying that he didn't want to argue with was because it was thanksgiving! However all we wanted us the empathy to make sure it doesn't happen again not only to us but too any other customer of IHOP in downtown Santa Barbara that staff really needs a new training program!! This place has really gone down in quality over the years, came in the other day with some of my coworkers because they dragged me along for breakfast and recommended ihop, I didn't mind because most of the time ihop has some pretty good pancakes. Well we get there and we sit at the booths, the service is ok, nothing special,our table got checked on once. But aside from all of that, the main thing is the food. Seriously I would've enjoyed making a simple egg at home over this. I ordered the breakfast sampler like I always do at any of there locations. The sausage was flat out cold, the ham was like chewing a leather boot, my hash brown was completely toasted and still had a lot of oil on it, and the worst part was the pancakes were not fluffy they tasted like they've been sitting out for a few days. I literally took a few bites of my food and I was done looking at the whole thing, had to get out of there fast on how bad it was. wow this ihop was great!! me and a buddy ate breakfast here today. the food was by far the best I've eaten at any ihop or denny's. the hash browns were perfect (nice and crunchy but soft in the middle) I had the mushroom and onion steak tips and eggs, I was soo surprised on how soft the steak was. no fatty peices and full of flavor. nothing special about the buttermilk pancakes, they were good not great. my buddy said his french toast tasted good, stay awak from the milk $4/glass (I wonder if they have a milk shortage over here or something). all in all this place is great, deffinetly give this place a shot. the cooks deserve a friggin raise. read more

the waitress argues with what I ordered after it came out late and none of the eggs that were ordered weren't even cooked right. didn't even eat my the crepes because it wasn't fully cooked and not even the right one was brought out.
