I really liked this IHOP, partially because it is brand new and partially because the service was so good. This particular location has a new type of layout and it's attractive. You could really spread out because it is very spacious, with a good number of booths as well as tables. It's located in a fairly new shopping center, so all of the architecture is up-to-date. And seeing how new it is, it was also very clean. The place gave me a good feeling as soon as I walked in. The other half of the equation was the service. From the moment we arrived, we were given a hearty, friendly greeting by the manager. The female server (I believe her name was Gabby) was also friendly and considerate. Pre pandemic awesome food and service. Post pandemic service was super slow the last few times. When the owner is there its run extremely well. When he is not there, super slow. Depending on the time of day you come here your experiences will be different each time. I usually come here late at night when I get off work or when my friends have a get together. The night time service seems off to me. When you walk in there's no one at the hostess stand. Sometimes the waiters have to seat us. Since it's a chain restaurant I would expect an employee to be standing there when costumers walk in at all times but they seem more occupied helping in the back. The severs here are very nice though. They're very attentive when it comes to refills and making sure everyone has what they need to eat. Food usually takes about 20 mins to get out. I prefer my food to come out once it's done versus waiting with everyone else's. The times where I come with groups they usually bring it out as they go. There were any times I recall where food came out at the same time and it was obvious that mine was completed first because it's colder than everyone else's dishes. When I come here during the day the food comes out a lot faster and fresher. Service wise, there's plenty of staff to go around. Ihop is just a good place to go with friends who drank the night away and is looking for a bite at 3 in the morning. I always enjoy ordering the pancakes and the potato soup. Manager was a bit of a jerk about me using my birthday coupon for free pancakes. The coupon was presented via my phone screen from my email. The coupon said to present it and included a scannable barcode. No where did it say it needed to be printed out. Manager wanted it printed. After asking for the Manager so that I could show him the screen, he said the email was supposed to have directed me to print. Once I showed him the email he brought it down a few notches.The waitress was the best!!! read more

If you are in a hurry, dont go to IHop in Landsdown Commons, dont go here. Took is 2 hours from start to finish. And no one was even in the restaurant..and i know why! The poor people behind us never got their food and the waitress asked if the were ready for the check!! Didnt seem to have a manager on duty or at least i hope they didnt!!! I've been to this IHOP many times. I've never been disappointed with anything I've order, or the service. The manager even makes the rounds at times to check on everyone. They are spacing everyone out and requiring masks when not at your table. Servers all have them on. Food comes out hot, and just as ordered. I'm a coffee lover, and the cups are too small. They don't leave a carafe on the table any longer. So I asked for a soup bowl and they gave one to me for my coffee! I was so pleased. This way the server wasn't having to refill my coffee every 5 minutes. I've never had a problem with service. It is spot on, and the servers have all been fantastic! No more Red Velvet pancakes. Very disappointing.... Otherwise old faithful. We have been to this location twice now. I like the service here, I like the food. My wife was disappointed that they discontinued the Red Velvet pancakes. This visit we both had breakfast for lunch. They have a $4.99 special. 2 eggs, meat (either 2 bacon, sausage or turkey sausage), hash browns (get then to make them Crispy!!!) and either toast or pancakes. Not bad for $5. I would avoid the coffee if you can. They feel the need to charge $2.29 for coffee. I would rather drink coffee at home for that price. Their coffee is not bad I just don't like to pay high prices for drinks. I know that restaurants make more from beverages than they do for food, Crazy. I usually drink water. This IHOP has a special place in my heart because I once snuck out my house when I was a teenager (almost a decade ago) just to eat here with friends. I remember having the sweetest server that night too. Haha. This was also my spot when I was in college after group hangouts or late nights at the movies. That said .. I can tell you this- this IHOP has held up throughout the years. This is my favorite place to get a mushroom spinach omelette. Always friendly, prompt service when I come here. Have been coming to this location for years and love the fact that it's open 24 hours. This is my go-to for early morning breakfasts. Being habitual, I normally order the Ultimate with whatever their featured pancake is at the time. The quality of the food is consistently good. Drinks are checked for refills fairly frequently and being allowed to have coffees to go when we're done is awesome! My daughter and me ordered pancakes this morning. They came out so dry both us could not eat.

I've come to this IHOP for a while now and today I've probably had my best experience here. We were celebrating my mom's birthday and there's 17 people in our party. They usually don't reserve but since we had everyone and our moms with us, they managed to arrange tables for us before we got there. -Our server was great and great service over all -Food arrived pretty quick. Went here for the Thursday deal, which is 50% off your entree with a College Staff or Student ID. My girlfriend had her student ID and I left mine in the car because I figured her ID would suffice to get 50% off the entire check. However, the cashier asked if I had an ID as well. I told him yes, but I left it in the car and that I can go get it. He laughed a little and said "ha no it's fine" He presents our check and only one of us received the 50% off discount. I asked him why it wasn't off both and he said because she was the only one who showed him her ID. I told him that I had it in my car and that I would go grab it if he really needed to see it. He then tells me "it's kinda too late for that" ...Really? First of all, the guy said it's fine when I said I would grab my ID. Second, how the hell is it kinda too late? Has this guy never heard of crediting back the card and ringing it up correctly? What poor customer service. We did not tip. Our server didn't really do much either. The food was pretty decent though so if you don't care about the service, but like the food then go here. Otherwise, "it's kinda too late" for the good customer service. Well this IHOP is right by my house so I have been there several times and most of the time I go because my son loves it. A lot of times when I'm not home yet he calls and makes an order for pickup and the people who work here are always nice and friendly. Obviously this restaurant is more known for breakfast food however they do serve a lot of other things. I would say if you're hungry for some pancakes and a hot cup of coffee then this is a great place to go. read more

It took over an hour to get our food. Waitress took an incorrect order and also did not bring a bag for our carry out boxes. My 83 year old mother in law asked the front desk lady for a bag and the employees reply was "yeah, if I have one", instead of a more courteous reply like "I will be happy to check for you". Ask for April as your server! She is awesome! She is very attentive and on top of things. The country fried steak and eggs is always my go to. I know it's just IHOP and breakfast food, but after this location went under renovation I think it has improved significantly. Came here with my husband and two kids while visiting for vacation. Our server, Brian, was so kind, polite and really went the extra mile. We ordered coffee (naturally) and while bringing us the check towards the end of our visit, he brought us two, coffee filled, to-go cups. I tend to avoid this chain, as my experiences have often been less than Pleasant. However I can say that this location is an exception. There was your typical weight, but it was because there were a lot of people waiting for tables. Once we were seated the waitress was efficient and capable of taking correct orders from our large group. I tend to prefer healthier options, and I was happy to see that they have added those types of items to their menu. Of course they still have all of the very fattening whipped cream topped waffles and pancakes, but they also offer a few healthy omelettes with veggies and egg whites. Located in the Landstown Common shopping center, this is a great location for folks who are shopping, and want to have a meal. Standouts: -- Clean. This is THE BEST ihop I've been to in Hampton roads. Very clean and welcoming. The owner himself was coming around asking how the food was, very nice. My server was also understanding and courteous. Came here in Sunday 10/27 we were greeted and sat at a booth in between two others. After 25 min nine of the servers had even said anything to us , so I spoke to one passing by and he said sorry we were not his table and kept walking. Service and food are a hit or miss at this location. We had great service tonight (Thanks Jasmine!), but my pancakes looked and felt funky. I'm not sure why they're inconsistent since I'm sure the batter just comes out of a bag anyways... All I all however, they have great deals on weekdays. On Tuesday afternoons, they have buy one, get one free entrees for students with college ID. Kids eat free everyday after 4. My husband and I both ordered the all you can eat pancakes for $5.99 with eggs, bacon, and hashbrown tonight. Our son had a kid's pancake combo for free. With a drink, we spent under $15. The food is relatively good just like every other IHOP I've been to, however, the staff was hugely disappointing. We had four people and the orders were all very simple. Somehow the waitress who wrote down all of the orders word for word still managed to forget parts off of everyone's meal. Ok let me start this off by we have been to this location two times before. The first time it was great, the second time we did not think about the high school football game ending while we were having dinner so that would not be a fair review. I am only giving two stars based on last night. Well this time there was not any excuse that I could think of for the poor or lack of service that we received. We sat there for about 5 min and finally our waitress came up, introduced herself and asked for our drink order. She said she would be right back. We started talking and I was looking around and noticed the guy at the booth behind my wife looked very unhappy. Then I noticed that a few min had passed and we had not gotten our drinks. Several min passed then our waitress showed up at the table behind us with their food. Where are our drinks? Not sure. She walked past us and went in the back. I figured she went to get our drinks so we waited for a bit. She never came back out. The lack of service explained the look on the guys face that I saw. Long story short we got tired of sitting there so we got up and left. We also figure that if it took her that long to not bring drinks how long will it take for our food. We said something to the hostess but she didn't seem to really care. My wife called the restaurant while we were on the way to our usual IHOP and he apologized and said that he knew EXACTLY which waitress we were talking about even though we couldn't remember her name. He asked us to come back whenever we wanted and to ask for him so he could make it right. We will go back and give them another chance. read more

Second stringers apparently after midnight.. I'm sitting here in the restaurant writing this I'm that annoyed. More employees than customers still took 5 minutes before even acknowledged once I was seated. Literally 5 people walked by and said nothing. Placed order and it came out fast. It also came out with pancakes that looked like they were cooked on an engine block, like warm hash browns, and cold bacon. Sent the pancakes back but just ate the other stuff out of frustration. Eggs were hot so one bright spot. While waiting I watched a waitress clearing tables while listening to headphones (not appropriate) and general foolishness I'd expect from children agree the parents had left, not a professional eating establishment. All and all I'll never come back here this late again and I'll strongly consider not coming back at all. I just had the worst breakfast. I had a simple order of medium cooked eggs and was very clear about how I would like my toast toasted not just warm bread. I think I was specific and polite in my order request. Yet, the eggs were barely over easy and the toast never saw a toaster. I politely explained that that was not how I ordered my breakfast. As far as IHOP's go, it's average. I enjoyed the service. Our waitress was patient, (we had a toddler and newborn) and she was quick. We never ran out of coffee or water. Some friends and I couldn't decide where to go. So this place seemed the quickest due to distance needed to travel. Wrong. The waitress never informed us that the owner, Jonathan, turned the unacceptable crepes back to the kitchen once he "noticed that they were the most unpresentable crepes he's ever witnessed come out of the kitchen". There were 4 families of folks come through while we patiently waited. Once we spoke to Jonathan, the food was right on his tail. He said he'd adjust the check for the miscommunication. We had 20% taken off for an hour of wasted time. I honestly didn't think that was sufficient but went with it. So we finished or sad meals and go to the front counter to pay. A manager asked how our meal was and without any hesitation my buddy's girlfriend spouts out that it was TERRIBLE! The man looks at me, I told him that I agreed. He asked what the issue was and I explained the problem with the crepes. So thankfully he took the crepes off my tab all together. My buddy is a bit of a pushover and said the meal was okay even though his girlfriend said differently. I feel as if I won that battle. As far as IHOP's go, this is probably the best location I have eaten at. The service was wonderful and the food arrived very quickly. Most locations we wait some time even if it isn't that busy. Yesterday morning they were moderately busy yet our food still arrived in a timely manner. Not only was it quick, the food was cooked just right. If you are a fan of IHOP this location will not disappoint. We will be going back to this one from now on instead of the Kempsville location. read more

I have been to this location about three times. The restaurant is clean and our server was great. The food arrived in a timely manner and was hot. I had the steak tips on this visit and they were not very tasty. I was pleased that the mushrooms were actually fresh and tasty unlike the meat. I gave it three stars because though the service is good and the restaurant clean, the food is definitely taste like prepackaged food. The eggs were ordered "over medium", the whites and yellow were runny while on the outside they were browned and crisp. The hash browns were a bit greasy. I ordered a crepe on the side in lieu of pancakes, but the filling is nothing like the blintzes were, but more like a powdered sugar type filling and was overly rich and not tasty. I enjoy the fact that everyday, they offer a special discount. On Mondays, they have 50% off for military, Tuesdays they have BOGO, and on Thursdays, they have 50% for hs/college students...
