Me and my family stopped here to get some breakfast on the way home from a getaway, and I do have to say it's one of the better IHOPs I've ate at. They were busy at the time but we were able to get seated almost immediately. The waitress was very friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. The restaurant looked brand new or at least remodeled. Very clean and well maintained. I ordered a T-bone steak with eggs and some buttermilk pancakes. The T-bone was perfect (pancake house style restaurants always have good steaks), the eggs were ok, but needed some salt. And of course the pancakes, delicious. Overall, we all enjoyed it and if we are ever in the area again, we will stop again. read more

Never go here. I literally signed up to Yelp just to post about this horrible IHOP. Like an unhinged lunatic, I have stupidly given this place 10+ chances in the last 3 - 4 years. Not once, (either dining-in or, picking up) has ANYTHING ever been right. It seems like a contest between the clueless, servers working the front and the Slingblades working the grill in back. Either the waitress will write the order down wrong and send it back wrong to the cook, or the cook will get the correct order sent to him and he'll make the order wrong himself. (this can always be figured out by re-reading the receipts to see who screwed up this time) You can literally be on the phone with them like this -- "Okay, I want a spinach egg white omelet with no onions and no tomatoes. You got that right? NO tomatoes and no onions. Only spinach & cheese." - "Yea, yea, it's all good I got it." - And you can bet your first born child, your house and your SOUL, that your order will come out with 50 trillion tomatoes, no spinach at all and with onions throughout. Bank on it. Here's some good advice, if you want cheese, you'd be better off telling them NO CHEESE cause then they'll actually make sure it's on the omelette. Tell them - "I can't eat cheese, I have a medical condition where I'll die if I eat cheese. I will go into a grand mal seizure if I eat cheese and all my innards will fly out my rear end before having a massive, cheese-induced-allergic reaction and subsequent heart attack.-- " If you tell them that verbatim, you are GUARANTEED to have TONS of cheese on your omelet. It'll be dripping in it. Overpriced is not even the right word at this IHOP.. It's an absolute joke and beyond not worth it. You'd be better off taking your chances at the Crescent Cockroach diner down the street. The cockroach races along their walls go on all day, but at least they can occasionally get an order right. read more

The Gordonsville, VA, iHeart needs to be shut down for unhealthy conditions. It has most was the horrific odor inside this restaurant (if you wanna call it that), damp, musky, moldy, rotten horrible smell. I can't believe I didn't run out. I have been to IHOPs in NoVA and they were not this bad. I ordered a hamburger but it was so Gracie I couldn't eat it. It's like they dipped it in oil, which I think they probably did it. It was so saturated with oils. I can't believe I even took the three bites I did. I had to stop eating it. The fries were OK. The diet Pepsi was OK. I will never go back there again! Just the odor alone makes me want to puke. The management needs to fix that odor issue, but I'm sure they must be used to it. I would not recommend this place to anyone. The food that we wanted might have been good and IHOP shouldn't advertise bananas on the table special menu when you don't have any. The waitress was rude at first to my grandson but as we sat there she became nicer but her appearance needed some work. The restaurant needs someone new to do the ordering for food and supplies. They didn't even have coloring books for kids. But because they were out of some of our favorite foods we had to settle for whatever they had. I am giving them 2 stars. read more

The wait was long considering we saw a lot of empty tables. The floors where we sat had spilled syrup and were sticky. My vegetarian niece got a regular sausage when it was supposed to be a beyond meat. She sent back to cook and they said it was fine. Others tried it was real sausage. This is the worst restaurant I have ever been to. First of all, my grandma who is handicapped wanted to order a take out order of pancakes. She was hung up on four times. They eventually stopped answering the phone. Then, we decided to come to ihop to order the takeout in person. They completely ignored us. As you can see from the picture, no one cared to help us. Other customers were complaining in the lobby. A man walked out of the restaurant and said he had arrived at 10:30. It is 12:30 and he still hasn't been served. He is a party of 2. I can't tell you if the food was good because I didn't enjoy eating it. First my drink had dirt and hair in the glass(glad I ordered a lemonade), then not one but two sets of silverware was covered in dirt literally. I ordered a curbside pickup order today at 2:08 PM. The app said it would be done by 2:28 PM. I arrived at 2:36 and parked in the curbside pickup spot. I called the number to let them know I was there to pick up my food. By 3:00 PM nobody had brought out my food so I went inside. The parking lot was almost empty and there was hardly any customers there. I could see a bag sitting behind the register, and a waitress was talking to a couple at the front desk. She saw me and asked me if I was there to pick up food and I said yes. She handed me my bag and I walked out. If you are not going to provide good curbside service then don't even bother offering it. Gotta say, had the worst experience at the Zion Crossroads IHOP than I have ever had. It wasn't the food, the food was great. It was the service. It was horrible, and I mean terrible, neglectful, rude service. When our initial order came it was without the pancakes which were to come with the orders. I reminded our server that we also had pancakes coming. She said 'sure, they will be right out'. More than ten minutes later, no pancakes and no server. I tried to find our server, no luck so I stopped another server, showed her our table (at her request) and she told me, 'they will be right out'. Again, more than ten minutes went by and no pancakes. I stopped another server, got the same answer, 'I will have them brought right out'. That's three servers in far more than twenty minutes. Finally, no service, no pancakes. I then actually saw our server and asked if we were ever going to get the pancakes (I didn't get her name, young server, dark hair, wearing a black face mask). She lit into me telling me how she had a 20 top (which she later, miraculously, turned into a 30 top) and she was too busy, blah, blah. I told her that we were also her table, that she had said she would get our pancakes, and that if she couldn't serve our table she should have handed it off. Her only response was she had a (now) 30 top in the back and she didn't have time to deal with us. Not an apology, nada, zip, zero. She was just damned nasty and rude. Well, needless to say, our table was not happy. Finally, an older server came over to help us. She was very helpful, tried to get us pancakes, but by this time we were all ready to leave. She got us our check, I explained I was not upset with her but that our server was horrible, terrible, rude and I would be leaving NO tip, period. She said she understood, and that I was right, we were also that server's table and should not have been ignored. She did give us a small discount. Want to know why some customers leave notes on the check, now you know. I left a statement on the tip line "NONE, ZERO". Have to say, first time in my life I have done that. We eat here frequently, just because we like one or two of their breakfasts, but gotta say, no more, period. I had enough of that server's crap for a lifetime and IHOP pays the price. Best IHOP experience ever. Our car broke down late in the day on I-64. With God's grace we were able to limp a few miles down to exit 136 to Zion's Crossing. The hotel we decided to stay at happened to have this IHOP next door. A little disclaimer, I'm not a big IHOP fan (see my prior review) but with no working vehicle, it's proximity to the hotel, and a 20% coupon, it was our only option. We were not disappointed in the least. The food was what you would come to expect at any IHOP. Nothing award winning here, just some good ole Americana fare that filled the bellies and made us forget about that traumatic experience we had a few hours ago. But that that service and friendliness though! Man, it was out of this world! We had our stereotypical "brown people visiting a small town" apprehensions. We really didn't know how we would be received. But were flat out wrong. I still feel a small pang of guilt for thinking like this...Hope our waitress was awesome and very attentive. All of the staff seemed to get a kick out of our young family, especially our one year old and treated us very well. I gotta say...the following day, with God's Graces we ended up making it to our final destination. We celebrated our good fortune by eating at the fancy restaurant in the hotel paying 4 times what we paid at this IHOP and were half as pleased. Surely, our best meal all weekend. (I know that sounds weird, right?!) Props to the folks working at IHOP that day. You all made us extreme fans of Zion's Crossing and we will definitely be back...if I am ever to find this place on a map. read more

The food has little taste but the service is usually good and there is never a wait for a table because there are so many better other places to eat in the area. Their food is reasonably priced and normally served without too much of a delay. Most of the time coffee refills are difficult to find. Our waitresses nails were 2 inches long. Gross, how do you keep them from gathering food when your touching people's plates all day. When she came to get our order she had soda still on her nails from serving the last person. She couldn't feel it because of the fake nails. The health care and food service industries really need to get a handle on having hygienic workers. This place is much improved! The atmosphere is more welcoming than the past and the staff is friendly. I believe there is new management and it's a completely different experience than the past. It feels like a country diner. My wife had blueberry pancakes and I had country fried steak. Both were good. There was an extended wait but we went after church so that was expected. Stopped by on a Wednesday evening at 7:30 and thought with an empty parking lot that we would be seated fairly quickly. 3 minutes until we were greeted and told they were busy and it would be a while. Then she answered the phone. Hung up the phone and made some mention about having to talk to her manager. Not sure if that was directed at us or the guys sitting on the bench behind us. Regardless, after 10 minutes their chance to have us as customers was up and we left and went across the street to another restaurant. This IHOP is relatively clean and has plenty of parking. These are the only good things about this IHOP. When we walked in, there was no one at the hostess station. Someone did show up within a few minutes. We were seated quickly. Our waiter was nice enough (not rude, not friendly, really didn't say much) The food was absolutely the worse we ever had. The cheesesteak looked so dry that the waiter brought mayo over (we didn't ask for it) and said "You might need this for the sandwich, it looked a little dry". He literally said that! We laughed about it even though the sandwich was indeed terrible. The country fried steak was salty and full of crust. The mashed potato was full of artificial flavor. The hash brown was burnt and bitter. The over easy eggs were soaked in a puddle of oil. The red velvet pancakes did not have any red velvet flavor, but at least it was nice and fluffy. The pancakes were the only thing eatable of the three dishes we ordered. We were passing through the area, driving from UVA to William and Mary. We are unlikely to travel through to this area again. I am upgrading my review from 2 to 3 stars here because I actually got to eat this time. In the past I have walked away before even being seated either after waiting too long, or I could tell just by observing what was going on that staying would have taken forever and probably made me mad...ruining my lunch. I can eat a hamburger from a fast food chain on the go if I want stress...I'm not sitting down and paying a tip to be aggravated. (I always tip something because I blame management for failures as much as servers. If management has its act together there would be no bad service or servers). So I decided it's time to give another try. When they came under new management, the manager reached out to me through Yelp to ask me to come back and try again and apologized for my previous experiences. A little note to restaurants and IHOP specifically here...I would have returned much faster had they offered a discount or other incentive; instead I just got back in my own sweet time. This time I was seated very quickly and there were a good dozen other cars in the lot and people at tables. A big improvement from me walking away to get fast food in the past. Only three complaints: 1-While my server was a very nice lady and really trying to serve well, I felt a bit pressured. I dont hold that against her...sometimes people actually go out to eat with only a half hour lunch time and they blame servers if they are late getting back to work. They should just brown bag it or get fast food, that's not enough time to do a sit down service meal. Although I dont blame the server for my feeling rushed...I still felt rushed. I couldn't get logged on to the Wifi yet and I was asked again if I knew what I wanted. How could I know that if I'm looking at my phone and not the menu? I suppose a regular customer would know when they walked in, but this was the first time I could stand waiting long enough to eat here. No points off for this. It just something I dont like. I'll tell you if I'm in a hurry. 2-I observed another customer at another table purposely put her glass at the end of the table trying to get her server's attention for a refill. I watched several pass-by's by servers for many minutes while this poor lady had to eat the rest of her grey pork chops with no liquid to wash it down. Granted, she asked for some issues ordering pork chops at an IHOP but please keep people's glasses filled, especially if they clearly sit them at the end of the table...this means "more beverage please!" and it means "now, while I'm eating!". Too many servers walked by to make this excusable. Had I been the woman I would have gotten up and looked for the water somewhere. I dont take that stuff lying down and I almost said something myself; but finally the person serving my table got the lady some more tea. 1 point off for that 3-I had the cheese-steak. It was OK and edible but totally unremarkable, and I was hungry in two hours because the portion was so small. I felt so rushed to order I didn't even ask if I could ask for other ingredients...like something to add the moisture it was lacking. A little mayo or something. My server encouraged me to get the fruit bowl because I didn't want fries. Big mistake...the fruit was OK, it was just a tiny bowl of it. I really could have gotten a better, more fulfilling meal at any of the four fast food places nearby for less money and no tip. Next time...and yes I will try again...I will stick with more "breakfasty" items. I know IHOP does those well. I might have been expecting too much from a sub sandwich at IHOP, so I'll take part of the blame. 1/2 point off for that. And 1/2 point off still for the time I wasted on more than one occasion coming here to eat before, and walking away because it was clearly a service disaster zone at the time. I'm still mad about that time out of my life lost forever. I'll try again and bump my rating up if it warrants. I will get a free short stack next time because I filled out the online survey. That will probably make my next visit just a little better! Man...we really need a decent restaurant at Zion's Crossroads. None of them are really very good except the fast food.
