One of the best outbacks I've been to. Normally I don't like outback. I prefer Texas Roadhouse for a cheaper steak or longhorn for a better steak if I'm going to pay more. Went to the one in Lynchburg a few years ago and it was really bland and boring. I was actually shocked how much better this one is in Charlottesville. Still love my Texas Roadhouse but sometimes when we want to treat ourselves to something a little nicer we go to this Outback now. read more

Hard for me capitulate how I feel about this place. I have avoided it for years because when it comes to chain sit down restaurants this has never been at the top of the list for me. It's not for the fact I don't like the food. Just never believed it lived up to its price tag. When we first entered the restaurant it was slammed packed. Not an empty table. We waited to get seated but not too long, 20 minutes tops. This process is standard and in my mind a good sign of a healthy restaurant. We placed our orders and were promptly served drinks and bread. Appetizer took awhile to come out but that's okay. I am unsure if there is just chaos here in the kitchen or between the servers but we constantly had the wrong food brought out to us. Waitress was okay but very inattentive. And a little milquetoast in demeanor. Food was very good. And shockingly better than I had remembered. I definitely ate more than I needed to here. But the prices are just astronomical. I can eat at its competition for a much lower price. I would love to go here more often but would rather spend my money at a higher quality local steak house in almost any other setting. read more

Tried the new menu put out for Valentine's Day by ordering with Delmonico Rib Eye steaks priced at $34 with two sides. We ordered both with medium heat. Mine came out medium-well to well-done and my friend's was almost raw. His was a thick cut steak (not necessarily a rib eye) while mine looked like a regular ribeye. The manager offered to redo mine and heat the other up to medium. The raw steak returned just as red as it was at first. Mine took forever and was still cooking 30 minutes after close. When it arrived, it was burnt worse than before. She said she used the fire-grill since they were supposed to be cooked that way. The sad thing about these supposed Delmonico Rib Eye steaks is that they don't have the right marking for a Rib Eye since they are a mangled bunch of muscular meat which is spongy and very hard to chew, which is not characteristics of a Delmonico steak. The manager felt bad about the steaks which were inedible and removed it from the bill. I left after nearly an hour and a half with salad and a sweet potato. The bread was yummy as usual while the onion petals were dry. Apparently this is a new menu item so maybe there is a learning curve, but Valentine's Day is only two days away. We walked in, on a Tuesday night at 8:00, and asked to sit in the bar area. There were ample tables open. We were overlooked by several servers for close to 10 mins. We then decided to move to the bar in the hopes that we would be recognized. In that same capacity, we were ignored. No one came to greet us while we saw several servers, the bartender and what appeared to be a manager all congregated at a table. We waited for another five minutes and left. This is very poor customer service in an establishment that is losing business to other steakhouses in the area. I would suggest starting with greeting customers right away. read more

I ordered thru Uber Eats! Ordered three dishes. 2 orders came with wrong side orders. $100 I paid. The steak was so hard when I asked for rare. I dont know what soup came. And the Caesar salad had wilted greens. The chicken was so hard. I felt bad for my $100 but I had to throw away most of them. Uber only gave me back $5 credit for wrong order. My family of 9 chose Outback for a celebration. Betty was our Server & she was professional, friendly & had good recommendations. We ordered a Blooming Onion, Artichoke dip & Mushrooms for the table, & all were excellent. My Ribeye was fantastic, the Filet Mignon was cooked to perfection. A few at the table had the Outback burger, delish! I tried the Espresso Martini, we were served Prosecco, beers & Dirty Martins. Our drinks were tasty. Almost too full for dessert Betty suggested the Chocolate Tower cake & it was superb. It had been several years since I had been to Outback & the restaurant did not disappoint. This location's puts forth the effort of a business that is on its way out... Our waitress was weak on the typical service details. I ordered a special with a filet mignon and it ate like a New York steak, not fatty at rib-eye level, but greasy enough that I couldn't finish it. Our Brussels sprouts sat in half an inch of oil/grease. I've extraordinarily high cholesterol and eat red meat sparingly and thus always, a filet mignon. This was certainly a cheaper cut. Between a couple bites of the Brussels sprouts and the steak, there was no need to apply a lip product for the rest of the evening. I read the reviews on here before going, and most of the negative reviews are related to poor service. They are accurate, Kristen R was high or drunk. She messed up almost every order. Everything had a 30 min wait time including getting drinks...and then drink corrections. Our table rapidly became cluttered because Kristen didn't take things away after bringing new things and when she finally cleared the table she kept dropping stuff on everyone. Kristen handed us the card reader and just left the table when we were ready to pay....why? There was something wrong with everyone's order. I ordered my meat medium rare but it came out closer to blue than rare....and it was cold. Something that is supposed to come with the order, came 30 mins into my dinner. And our bill was over 150$.....ABSOLUTELY not worth it. The problems seem to be staff related which indicates poor managerial decisions and poor management. read more

My husband and I decided that we wanted to treat ourselves to dinner after more than a year of not eating out. We do enjoy the occasional steak but do follow recent health warnings about the dangers of consumption of red meat. The steaks were good and cooked well, I ordered a salad with Blue Cheese dressing. There was about 1/2 cup of dressing on the salad and that made it inedible. I don't send food back unless it is undercooked so I just pushed the salad aside. Management may want to consider putting salad dressing on the side of the salad so that patrons can control how much they use. With today's economy, everyone's pinching dollars and smart consumers are no longer loyal to chain restaurants like they used to be, it's a sign of the times. I will say that our server Betty was great! She was polite and made sure our experience was pleasurable. We won't be returning for another go round, too expensive and wasteful. read more

We stopped at the Charlottesville Outback for dinner a few nights ago. We were traveling with our 60 pound dog. They allowed us to have our dog in their covered outside dining area. Have been here about five times this year, previous four times were fine. The most recent visit was horrible. The waitress was impatient and rude to our table, while significantly more patient and nicer to the table next to us. This experience was most outrageous when she flipped over entire ranch cup and spilling half of it on my hand and clothes then ran off without realizing anything. Had to go clean up right away so nothing sticks in my clothes, meanwhile, the waitress just did not pay attention to the mess she caused. Will not come here again. read more

I hadn't been to this restaurant in a very long time and, unfortunately, I remembered why. First of all, the good: - The Hostess sat me down almost immediately and she brought me that pumpernickel bread and butter soon after. - The baked potato and the shrimp was decent (nothing to rave about). Now the bad: - It was almost 10-minutes after I was seated before the Server (Lisa?) came over to get any of my drink order (I gave her my main order at that time as well). - Then it took about another 5-minutes before she brought me my iced tea. Unfortunately, my main course arrived before the soup. The individual who brought it out asked me if I was supposed to get a salad or something. I told him I had ordered French Onion soup and he apologized. The Server finally brought me the soup when I was well into eating my steak. - My medium-rare sirloin was overcooked on the surface and lacked any kind of taste. I thought Outback seasoned their steaks? It was chewy as heck until I trimmed off the overcooked surface. Only then could I force myself to finish consuming it. - The Server leaned OVER my meal when she was returning my refilled iced tea. - I asked for something to package the soup in to go. The Server insisted on taking the soup anad doing it herself (mistake!!). Upon getting home, as soon as I walked though my door, the paper bag ripped and the accompanying picture shows what became of the French Onion soup. It looks like the container's cover was not properly secured and it started leaking whil I was riding home. I also had to clean out the inside of the case that carried it and had to wash the other items that contained it. WHAT A WASTE OF TIME AND MONEY!! Spent 2 hrs trying to get a meal for myself, husband and daughter the bill was right at $200.00. What a disappointment this restaurant was. They did offer a free Blooming Onion for their horrible food and service. LOL The trick was it couldn't be used for this horrible visit. Went with our family and it took close to 20 minutes just to take our order and then server would only take drinks and refused to take our food order. Ok, but then close to another 15-20 minutes to get waters and iced tea. Then asked for the cheese pasta (which we have ordered at least 50 times at Outback locations all over the east coast). Server said not possible. At that point - we left. We have young kids. Zero effort and no situational awareness. Place is a joke - servers clueless, no motivation. Unlike most (for being a steakhouse) I come here for the bloomin onion burger. It has great sauce, a good amount of onion, and well cooked patties that could compete with their steaks. Service isn't bland, but nothing to write home about either. Last few times it seems they are short staffed or cutting payroll judging by the lack of staff. Also concerning is the amount of time spent standing around appearing to have not much to do. But I don't expect luxury accommodations so it's not a huge deal. Held off writing this but after visiting the Outback on 4th St N in St Petersburg and getting treated like a special guest even though they were really busy I decided to comment. My granddaughter and I went to the Seminole Outback on July 20th to celebrate her 16th birthday. We had no problem with the food. It was as expected for Outback. But, the service was terrible. The server acted as if she did not want to be at work. No welcome to Outback, not even a smile. The food was brought with absolutely no smile or "enjoy". When I told her it was my granddaughter's birthday, she just commented "oh" and walked away. At the end of the meal she asked what dessert she wanted and we had to ask what do you have. When she brought the dessert, she sat it down without smile or word and walked away. I did tip her the 20% because I figured someone that unhappy must need it. So sorry, I know Outback does not want to have this type of reputation. I remember the days when the company was new in St. Pete. Picked up food to go was constipated on getting food again from you guys last couple times was not that great my mother's on the hospice so she wanted potato soup she said it wasn't as good as it used to be I also ordered a thing of wings that look burnt so I sent those back and I got the chicken alfredo and that was a little bit too spicy for me the bread is always good so I don't think I will be doing a to go order anymore I guess I dine in if I decide to do that but the gentleman that brought my food to my car he was very nice and I took them well so that was $33 worth of food wasted read more

This location was a welcome sight to a weary family who had been on the road for several hours. We had just left an establishment across the street that seemed too busy for our patronage. If you've been to an Outback you've been to them all. If you haven't, we'll, it's a chain restaurant that does a decent job at a fair price, and it's reliable. Our server was outstanding. All of the diners in the restaurant were thoroughly enjoying their experience. My kids were happy, my wife too. I ordered the steak salad and it was weird. I don't blame that on the restaurant, but rather the company as it just doesn't work. I'll return to Outback Steakhouse, and maybe I'll actually order a steak.
