Brought the team here for lunch. Great food at a reasonable rate, served by people who care. The biscuits and gravy were fantastic, but what really made the meal were the home fries. Fresh and crisped to perfection, probably the best home fries I've had. No frills ambiance, the lowest ceilings I've encountered and the parking could use some help, but not terrible for the first day open following a snow storm. 100% recommended and I will definitely be returning. read more

First time to Hill House. Came highly recommended for homemade food, price and service. Located in an old house on top of a hill gives a unique parking lot - be prepared to use muscle to open your door or keep it from hitting the car next to it. Walking in is easy to want to turn around - lack of decorations or character- but you do immediately notice tables full of regulars and smiles. The wedding soup was noted as being awesome by my mother (who recommended to meet up here for lunch). The rolls are fresh, soft and homemade. The fish sandwich was large on a fresh hoagie bun-fair to say they made the bun there too. The topper with "steak" covered mashed potatoes. The portion size was large. I didn't taste it but got a thumbs up from my son. They had fresh baked pies which we took home to enjoy later. This place has THE most authentic German food! One bit brought me back to my days living in Tier. Come to find out, the chief studied culinary school in Tier. Yelp has let me down. Normally I don't like posting reviews like this, but I need to be honest. I ordered the seafood combo, green beans, Mac n cheese, and peach pie. This restaurant is pretty yummy I love thier french onion soup and chicken parmesan. The last two times I went though the service took a long time . But other then that it is great cheap little place to go .. make sure to watch out getting in and out of car as they are literally on a hill! read more

I've been eating here for over a decade. The restaurant has been handed down to the next generation, and they are doing their best to continue the great tradition of good food at reasonable prices. They have however, improved on the original claim that: "it has the worlds worst parking lot, no atmosphere, and the dishes don't match". No frills here, but all meals are tasty. Traveling from Montana to Massachusetts we went 20 min out of the way to have lunch here with relatives who drove up from Pittsburgh. A typical PA small town mom and pop place with a huge selection of menu items with breakfast served until 11 am. I split a large order of liver and onions, salad and two sides with my sister. The vegetables came from a can buy the cooked food was well prepared and tasty. Others had BLT, burgers, onion rings and cheesy fries. Everyone liked their meal. Service was prompt and friendly. Waitress said stuffed chicken breast and breaded fish were favorites. They ran out of blackberry crumb pie while we ate. A much appreciated break from highway and fast food. read more

Service was great, food was delicious, and orders came out quickly and correct. I got the lamb hoagie PITTSBURGH style and it was delicious! Would highly recommend it! And def get it again. My only criticism would be if they had some music or something playing in there. It's too quite. Some jams would really liven the place up. read more

I live in New Castle and have seen restaurants come and go over the years. Hill House has been here for many years, handed down through generations and is still owned by family. We have gone there for many years and have always enjoyed the food. The parking lot has a lot to be desired, dishes don't match but the food is excellent and that is what your there for. I love this place. Homey atmosphere and their fried fish dinner on Fridays. AWESOME! You get alot of food at a great price. And the piece of fish is big. Its in a house. They have great pie and soup too. The pop comes in cans, the dishes don't match, they close for funerals, but you know what? That is not what you come for. You come for great food, great waitresses. And you get all that. No wonder its been here for generations and is still owned by family. Dont see that much.Oh and the parking? lol. Its on a hill. read more

If you're looking for something fancy this is NOT the place for you. If however you are looking for some home cooked food this will be as close as you can get. The parking is horrible, and you better make sure they're going to be open before you head out. Still if you're willing it's well worth the experience. read more
