Breakfast was very good....buttermilk pancakes were delicious and sausage was yummy. Waiter was attentive. HOWEVER, there were three tables surrounding us with dirty dishes on them for 45 minutes. Having to look at other customer's dirty dishes and half eaten food after they had been long gone was really unappealing and pretty gross. Our waiter and another waiter kept coming around to take care of us but kept walking right past the dirty tables, which was very confusing to us. Their Bison burger is a total waste of money; it is precooked and warmed up in the microwave before serving. Such things make the meat tough and tasteless. Good food, I was there on 05-07-14 pm, I eat the Northern Salad. I am NOT a fan of romaine lettuce but this was good and the salmon was very good. A friend had the chicken delight and he said it was very, good. The waiter was proficient at his job and got a nice tip. He said that he was from Greece, he did have a accent. I am vegan and there were not very many options on the menu. The owner of the restaurant made sure that we were taking care of. He visited our table a couple of times and was a great host. While this is in the same building as the old Johnny D's, that's where the similarities end, and that is a very good thing. Food is delicious, from breakfast, to sandwiches, to full dinners. Food is always fresh and portions are HUGE, almost everything will give you another meal the next day. Prices are very reasonable, comparable to any other diner. Free veggie plate at dinner time with every meal. Eat here 3-4 times a month, definitely a good go to place. Have had near perfect service almost every time. My review is at least two years overdue and I'm not one to write a bad review but I had such a bad experience with management here that I had to bring it up. The waitress was very nice. I had ordered a meal that came with soup. When I asked what the options were for soups she named French onion soup. I ended up with that option. The food was ok and nothing special to rave about. When it came time to pay, the bill had a larger charge for the French onion soup. When we went up to the counter to pay I had mentioned to the guy who looked like the manager or owner that I was over charged. I simply told him that my soup was supposed to be included as part of my meal. He stated that French onion soup was not part of the soup options for meals and that if I wanted that it was an extra charge. Ok so I'm not complaining about the extra $2 I had to pay but more about the principle of it since I was misinformed. He continued to tell me that EVERYONE should know that French onion soup is additional cost cause it takes more to make. Seriously?? Are you really telling a customer that they should know how you business works? If it was initially told that French onion soup was extra. Of course this wouldn't be a complaint but I felt tricked. The manager called out for the waitress to point out her mistake but he still insist I paid for her mistake. waitress seems to know how this manager/owner is and didn't want to deal with it so she slipped me $2 and I still gave her a good tip. Thank you waitress for realizing your mistake. Manager was so unwilling to understand waitress's mistake and made customer paid for it. This is the local diner. The food was unexceptional but the reason I am writing this was that the waitress we had was a gem! After the cranky hostess, we were expecting the same from service. We both had open faced reubens and soup. My friend's soup was dominated by a monster matzoh ball, which strongly resembled one of my mother in law's. I had navybean on the recommendation of the waitress and enjoyed it. The reubens were average with Russian dressing that was a little strange because it was bright orange. The Cole slaw and fruit cup were very nice because they were and cut and fresh. Lunch was very reasonable. read more

I live in Wappingers, we pass through New Windsor all the time. Ikaros Diner has an amazing dessert collection. There's so much you can choose from. Anywhere from breakfast to wraps to amazing dinner plates. I suggest the chicken Marsala. If you're in the mood for Greek food, you should try the gyros and chicken souvlaki! When I first went to this restaurant back in the summer of 2013 it was amazing. But lately it's more hit or miss. It depends on the server and what time of the day I go. I notice late night had the crappy servers, morning servers were ok, the dinner shift seemed better. I like how they serve you fresh veggies when you sit down and the sandwiches come with bowls of coleslaw and pickle. But I also noticed the veggies aren't always as fresh as they used to be.
