I stopped in with a friend last weekend while we were getting a few things in the store. I got the Swedish meatballs with potatoes and lingenberry sauce with lingenberry soda and a side salad. My meal was just $4.99 before tax, and I don't recall the drink price but I think it was $1. While the salad was on the wilted side, everything else was really tasty for a cafeteria style restaurant. Can't beat the price either. This place has a really inexpensive menu, although limited. They have kid friendly options and good sized portions for all. It's easy to find a table in their very well lit restaurant. You bus your own table by dropping off your tray in the kitchen and that keeps costs low. It's interesting to be eating next to people shopping for knives and rugs. It gives off a weird vibe for the place which I like. In general I am a huge fan of IKEA Restaurants (especially while traveling in Scandinavia where they are an affordable option to local food). This location is a bit hit or miss with the food not being hot enough at times. The periodic crawfish dinners are pretty awesome though. read more

I've had lunch here perhaps 30 or more times, and it's always consistent and well-priced. The Swedish meatballs are the traditional fare here, and we usually get this dish, but I've often had thier salads, too. Today was the first day that they forgot to put lingonberry jam on my kid's meatball dish, but I think there were new employees staffing the place. Also, at the cutlery stand, I asked a staff member if the metal bin that was placed on the counter had clean or dirty forks in it. She was short with me. Like, was that a stupid question? It wasn't clear if the forks were soiled or clean, and the metal bin was just put there. No excuse for rudeness, peope! Otherwise, the Swedish meatballs are always, always wonderfully good. The tables are kept clean, and the staff are usually nice. I like how they have Coke beverages. They could use a few more salad dressing choices (I only saw two). Have eaten here several times. Good but not great. Tonight we got the meatballs with mashed potatoes -good - but they forgot the lingonberry : ( Tried for the 1st time the stuffed salmon (salmon good, stuffing gross) mixed veggies (surprisingly good) and potatoe/broccoli cakes (gross and COLD). If you aren't walking off a meal when you arrive to IKEA, it might be a good bet that you get hungry before you reach the end. The store is massive and by the time you reach the kitchen supplies, the savoury smells of the cafeteria waft over and beckon you to their cafeteria. If you can't wait until the middle of your walkabout, then hang follow the way to Småland, walk the hallway around and bam, there's the cafe! There's cold and hot offerings, both of which I have enjoyed on past occasions. Their larger salads come pre-made and there's a small smörgåsbord if you wish to add to it. Take care though, those items can add up if you're not careful. I usually go with the classic Swedish meatballs. A tasty plate of köttbullar with gravy, lingonberry and mash. I too miss the baby red potatoes but the mash is quite good! You can substitute French fries at no additional cost if you prefer. Other items can be found on the hot table - salmon filet with mixed veg, vegetarian crepes stuffed with cheese and spinach, baby back ribs and a fair amount of kid-friendly items like macaroni + cheese! Cheap tasty eats that are flavourful and hot. It's a nice oasis in the bedlam that can be IKEA on the weekend. Leave room for their desserts too! I can highly recommend the Prinsesstårta or their marzipan roll, the latter of which reminds me of my iPhone battery when it charges! Grab a glass of their lingonberry drink, which you can also buy in concentrate for home. I am really sad this trip to IKEA as I found out they removed the FRANKE espresso machines... they made excellent americanos and I am having trouble settling for drip coffee... it isn't even that bad drip coffee, but because of the excellent americanos I've been enjoying here since they opened is no longer here, we will be reconsidering our next two hour drive in awful traffic to shop at the IKEA store... maybe we will just order online if we absolutely need anything from here or go to other retailers that cater to my caffeine addict needs... so sad. read more

I actually like this place. It's kind of like a higher-quality High School cafeteria style food. I've only been here a few times, but I already know my go-to meal is the Swedish meatballs and mashed potatoes. You can't really beat it for five or six bucks. The lines here could get surprisingly long, but it is nice because they do accommodate you with cards where you could stack multiple trays that way you could get as much food as you can in one trip. The desserts are so so if you are into lingonberry then you might like it other than that the cheesecakes and whatnot taste pretty typical. The mule some cells are pretty small portions but they taste pretty good, and for five bucks a pop you could really just order two servings and be satisfied. We always look forward to getting something to eat when we shop at IKEA and today was no different. However.....the tables and chairs were disgusting. Not the usual "it's been a busy day" messy but just nasty and covered in grime disgusting. We used our Clorox wipes to clean and sanitize everything. Then we were off to the food line to a not so friendly server. When I announced that I didn't want mashed potatoes with my chicken leg I got the look of "WHAT!!??" Which followed with a "what do you want?" When I said I wanted a veggie medallion instead I was told, "no" "you can't have that." I took the veggies and a "side" of medallion and shuffled off with my tail between my legs. Shame on me for asking for something different. Once in a while I get a craving for Swedish meatballs. That's when I head on over to IKEA for a visit that I know will exclusively be limited to the restaurant and bistro area (and getting lost trying to find a shortcut out of the giant place). Today was the first time I experienced the newly built area. In classic IKEA fashion, there wasn't much of a visual difference from when I went to IKEA as an elementary school student and now, as an adult; I got just as lost as back then. (Eventually discovered that at the bottom right of the stairs closest to the entrance of the restaurant area, there is an entrance linking back to the front of the store. Yeah, didn't see that.) I wanted to try the Vegetarian version of the Swedish Meatballs so I got that while others got the meaty [Swedish] Meatballs, Salmon Filet, and Corn Chowder. The vegetarian ones tasted fine. The tomato-y lentils gave more flavor when combined together. But letting people know that if you're originally not much of a vegetarian food enthusiast, you will not like these. They have the typical mushiness and slightly bland flavor that many vegetarian dishes are infamous for (in the meat lover's opinion). The Swedish Meatballs were just as good as my childhood memory served me. Savory, dripping with gravy, and that sweet berry sauce - mmmm! It's a comforting taste - even if it has been defrosted, these are good meatballs! The Corn Chowder was creamy and expected in taste. It was a good okay. Nothing that pushes the IKEA restaurant to an "elite" status, but a bowl that said, "Our cafeteria food is oookay." For dessert, I had the $1 Vanilla Frozen Yogurt Cone. The cone was crispy and fresh. Delicious. As for the frozen yogurt, it is a less rich McDonald's vanilla cone. A nice way to end an IKEA adventure. read more

like most people who go to the ikea cafeteria, my boyfriend and i were hungry after looking at furniture, so we decided to stop by here since it was so close. my boyfriend had reservations about the cheap prices, but i was just happy to get food for so cheap. just like the line at checkout, the line for the food barely inches forward. when we finally got to the front, they were out of a lot of different options. my boyfriend got the chicken tenders and fries; the fries came fresh from the fryer, and he voiced his excitement over the freshness-- but the food server served him half-fresh, half-old fries. okay... the bread rolls were cold upon pick up, and by the time we got to our seats, a lot of the other food was cold. not only that, my boyfriend's tenders were pretty below-par. i'm not one to be picky about food, but when i tasted his tenders, i had to admit that they were one of the worst i've had. he refuses to any more than half his food. i ate all of my swedish meatballs, mashed potatoes, and the vegetable medley. it tasted like normal school cafeteria food to me-- not bad, not great i shouldn't have eaten it all, though. by the time i was standing in line to check out with my new furniture, my tummy started hurting. for the next five hours, i tried to take it easy, but i felt terrible and kept having to use the restroom since my boyfriend seems fine, maybe i should have eaten half my food. maybe it was just the meatballs. maybe i shouldn't have eaten any ikea food at all. in any case, i feel terrible, and i will never eat here again read more

umm yas. did you think it was gourmet? this is what i imagine eating will be like when we all live in space- minimal modern functional design and sterile but reliable. meatballs are my go to- they vary, sometimes they're soft and moist and sometimes the outside has a little crunch but either way they're great! mashed potatoes, cranberry (i think) sauce and steamed veggies with flavor! super cheap coffee and fun drink choices (ligonberry!). the chicken strips are crunchy and fries are delicious. it's so clean and neat- this is like good hospital food. reliable. even with long lines it goes fast, tons of seating including a kids area. shopping and eating... they must have the formula that makes you spend more! but the food is so cheap and i think kids are free on tuesdays. srsly, meatballs with the fixings, cornbread (I LOVE THE CORNBREAD IDK WHY) and a coffee for $6.25! always clean, always neat, little carts if you have more than one try. just buss your own table by bringing your tray to the stations when you're done! read more

Oh sweet...listed separately from IKEA means double the reviews for one trip. Ha! This was my first visit where I actually ate at IKEA. Apparently it's the busiest restaurant in the entire state. Go figure. It was one of those, 'You've never what? are you kidding? that's it, we're going there now" moments while running errands and hanging out today. I try to be accommodating to the random whims of others, since it usually works out well for me too, and this was no exception. I just had the meatball platter, plate..thing..whatever. Meatballs, mashed potatoes and mmmmmmmmmmmm lingonberries. I was shared a spoonful of Don's tomato rice soup, and it was fabulous! First time to try this place since we were on our way anyways to purchase some home stuff from Ikea. The restaurant is more like a cafeteria where you grab a tray and pick up items along the way or you can also order hot menu items and they assemble the meal for you as you wait. You can see that they mass produce their items and get the line moving pretty quickly. I had ordered the chicken strips and fries and they were just ok. They gave me 4 strips which was more than enough for my lunch and I was stuffed after finishing my meal. Next time I wouldn't mind giving the Swedish meatballs a try as that was the highlight of their menu. Price wise it was cheap and you can also get free refills with any of the soda drinks. Décor was nice and modern with it being outfitted with Ikea stuff. I liked how you can look out into the store as people shopped while you sat there enjoying your meal. read more

We usually get the swedish meatball plate, which comes with a soup or salad and a drink. In addition to the usual soda choices, they offer ligonberry soda, which is quite interesting. The apple cake was delicious. Like the store itself, the restaurant can get really busy but the lines move fast. If you are picking up a fair bit of food, save yourself a backache and be sure to pick up one of their tray carts that you can stack the trays of food on and wheel around. Hey! I still had a smile on my face and was cracking jokes after a long night of drinking and a short night of sleep! :) I think that's my own real gripe. The food is decent for the price. I always go for the swedish meatballs... who the heck couldn't?! Maybe it's because I live in Lynnwood (45 minutes away) that these 15 balls on my plate is such a treat when I do get to have them. The IKEA cafeteria is a testament to the power of suggestibility. As any good adman (Mad Men?) knows, placement and timing is everything. So as I wandered the isles at IKEA without having eaten in over 24 hours, the first pictures of the cafeteria started my stomach whirring. I initially decided that I would stop at somewhere more substantial after I'd finished my purchase. But by the time I'd navigated the first half of the store, my stomach was in open rebellion and a detour to the cafeteria was fated. As the name implies, the IKEA cafeteria is set up......like a cafeteria. You pick up a tray and some silverware, help yourself to some prepared items in a glass cabinet and stop by the lunch ladies to give your order. Being in IKEA, I felt obliged to try the swedish meatballs and mashed potatoes. There are other entrees should you be so inclined; mac and cheese, tater tots, fries and hot dogs are prominently displayed. The meatballs were a little bland but go well with the gravy and the potatoes veer towards the saltier side of the instant potato genre. But it's a reasonably filling meal for a reasonably cheap price. And after busing your own table, it's back to browsing the isles for $49 couches. read more

I love that they have daily specials. I like that IKEA provides hot cooked food while you are forced to walk around their gigantic store because of their layout (very smart of them I must say) because by the time you are done walking the entire place, you're gonna be thirsty or starving (both most of the time). Their daily special I had was their baby rack ribs (1/2 rack) w/fries and cornbread...all for $7.99! The pork ribs weren't bad for the price and I like that it came w/cornbread. I actually thought the cornbread was pretty darn good. I also ordered the chicken tender & meatball meal. The portions are the perfect size and I like that they have a variety of condiments for you to chose from. The meatball taste way better than a few places that i've eaten. I usually never eat meatballs, unless i'm at IKEA. I figure since they dish out so many of it, they gotta know what they're doing. Cheap & a great way to quench your Swedish craving. Every time I'm at IKEA, I'm convinced that I want to eat something from this cafeteria. But that's just what it is--a cafeteria. Complete with trays, and a line, and an area to pick up your chocolate milk. I've given it so many opportunities to stun or wow me, but I always end up feeling as though I were ripped off, and have a stomach full of meatballs. Not even good meatballs. I mean, what kinds of meatballs are you making at home, if this is what you drive down to Kent for? Hard to find, cramped space and mediocre food summon up my experience today at Ikea's restaurant. Having been a huge Ikea restaurant fan for many years, the Seattle restaurant beats them all in indifferent service and overpriced food. No white fish but plenty of farmed (i.e., allegedly very unhealthy) salmon. Meatballs that taste like seasoned papier mache. The chicken fries dish is by far the best. I was excited to see Ikea bringing back their apple pie promoted on posters throughout the store until I saw the actual pie. Most disappointing. read more
