Visited the IKEA for the first time - large parking garage with a lot of spaces just for this huge store of furniture stuff (and Blahaj sharks). Tons of items for the house from small things like kitchenware to large things like furniture and rooms basically. There is a cafeteria there that serves some nice food (the meatballs were very good). Just get in line, ask for the food that's available, and then pay at a register. Water and fountain drinks are available. Plenty of seating for small or very large groups. Taking a trip to this IKEA is not just your average shopping trip. The Havana Chicken was alright. There wasn't much flavor on the beans and rice. The chicken itself was cooked the right amount but didn't have too much seasoning either. It's not a huge portion considering it costed only $10. I much preferred the Swedish meatballs meal. This is their signature dish for a reason. I have always loved coming to Ikea as a kid. Eating the Swedish meatballs is always nostalgic. I have always loved the meatballs, gravy, and lingonberry jam. They all mix very well. The mashed potatoes are also decent like average. They did not have broccoli this time so I was able to switch it or some french fries which are nice to dip in the gravy. Overall, the food is yummy as always but it was served a little cold which made it taste less good. I think the food was worth it in the past but now prices have raised. I have officially fulfilled my childhood dream. I vividly remember watching Buzzfeed's "People Try Ikea Meatballs" and made it my life's mission to try them. I initially thought that you just get 12 meatballs but was pleasantly surprised that the mash, jam, and veggies were included. I added a side salad and Texas toast to complete my meal. The meatballs were spectacular- juicy and tender. The mash was creamy and buttery, the jam wasn't overly sweet or overpowering, and veggies are always delicious. The gravy really glued everything together to create a scrumptious meal. I was completely stuffed afterwards. I wish every high/middle school would model the dining area of IKEA. It was such a comfortable and welcoming environment. I also love how its conveniently located at the end of the IKEA maze for a nice reward after what seems like hours of walking. I went for the seafood meatballs and once I got to the counter they were all gone. Big mistake! Huge mistake. In my quest to be a solid pescatarian I had to eat the veggie meatballs. Guess what? They were actually delicious. So I learned something new and I even found them downstairs in the frozen food section. They were about 8 a bag and I bought a few. So all and all it didn't turn out so bad. When I got downstairs they actually had a vegetable hot dog and onions and peppers for 2.50 with a drink. The slowest cafeteria line that I have ever been in!! It is almost as if someone has murdered that Swedish chief in the kitchen and the rest of the muppets don't know what to do with themselves. The setup to the restaurant is cafeteria-style: You stand in line, ask for/take food as you go through with your tray, and pay at the end. You seat yourself and clean up after yourself. There's plentiful seating around, and they also have high chairs for babies/toddlers. As for the cafe, it's pretty much like a concession stand. I go to the restaurant everytime I'm at IKEA, whether for a legit meal or just for their deserts. It's inexpensive and a fun experience to be using all of the food, utensils, and furniture that they actually sell in the store. Their deserts are always good, but my favorite is their classic cinnamon rolls. Also, if you have an IKEA family card (which is free to get), you get a free coffee/tea mug every time you go to the restaurant. After a long morning weaving through aisles of Swedish design, a shopper encounters an oasis halfway through the trek. By now, just about any form of food would suffice, as Ikea is a very long winding store. We stopped because we were hungry and it was lunchtime. We also knew, having shopped here throughout our years, that there were fairly priced meatballs to be had in this place. First of all, this is not fine dining and the meatballs are frozen. But the price is very fair and the food is halfway decent. We all enjoyed the small order of Swedish meatballs, mashed potatoes and steamed vegetables. And of course, we had lingonberries and lingonberry flavored sparkling "Nordic" water. How they get all that water from the Nordic region to Woodbridge Virginia amazes me to this day. There must be a pipeline, of some sort, weaving to each Ikea store throughout the world. It was all good and fueled us for the remaining trip through this Scandinavian carnival of furniture with odd names. Oh, whatever you do, don't forget the desserts. The cheesecake and butterscotch tort were a nice finish to a good, solid meal. We will be back and we will eat more meatballs. And you know what? I kind of look forward to the next visit. read more

I probably have been coming to this location every since they've opened so that's a very long time. I do love IKEA for sure, but I always make sure that I'm prepared. I usually wear tennis shoes, bring a bottled water, dress in workout clothes, take my measuring tape and bring a good friend with a truck and muscles:) In the past, I've gotten storage totes, frames, vases and some household items plus received a bamboo plant from my sister from here. After we finished eating, we headed over to the wardrobe area because I knew which one I had wanted which was white with a full length mirror. The salesperson there was quick to help me when I said I know exactly what I want. Apparently the pieces for the Pax system is somewhere that you can't get yourself, you have to go and order it through salesperson, pay for it at the front, and then walk over and wait to the area where IKEA staff have pulled the items for you. Be sure to look at your paper with the number and also look on the large screen for the column that says finished. I also went to the Besta TV stand section, and my friend and I were using the planner to build my entertainment center. There wasn't a sales associate nearby, so I ended up dialing zero from the phone that was near the sign with and 'I'. The operator asked if I was a customer, and I said yes I need help here can you send somebody. So, she said she would, and immediately a sales person approached me and asked if I used the phone. I said yes and the way she looked at me made me realize that the phone is for employees only. The sales person, helped us choose all of the items and ensured we had accounted for every piece. We then walked over and got a cart and pulled everything from the shelves. Its been a week, and I have yet to put my furniture together. I'm waiting for some of my friends to come over to help. There are a lot of amenities here, including a childcare play area, cafeteria, several floors of home decor and appliances, and much more I'm sure I didn't get to. You can get lost in this IKEA for hours exploring the different kitchen sets and decor examples that are set up for the customers to view. The store can sometimes be hard to navigate, but there are arrows to direct you as well as staff associates that are willing to help. I will warn that sometimes it can be overwhelming-- especially on weekends-- which can make the store itself very crowded and loud. To help face this, I recommend going on a weekday preferably around mid day. There's a nice selection of café options at a good price, but if you're vegan they are currently not selling the vegan hotdog and there really aren't any other options unless you want to drink soda. That was a very difficult part for me considering I was promised I'd be able to find something to eat. It was easily able to be worked around though, and I look forward to coming back and trying again! Being five months pregnant, I thought I would get exhausted in the store very quickly, but my attention was so focused on all the furniture and bright colors and clever designs that I was hardly even focusing on my pain level! Haha. There's lots of parking at this location as well. Sometimes it may take a while for you to get furniture to go if you go directly to a store associate, so I usually prefer to order online and then do pick up.
