While winding through the maze of furniture in the IKEA store, we came upon the restaurant around lunch time and decided to check out the menu. The restaurant is cafeteria style. Customers push a tray along, select ready cooked food, and pay the cashier at the end of the line. They have several platters and ala carte selections. I had the veggie ball platter. Beside the veggie balls it had a sauce, steamed vegetables, and a bed of ancient grains. I also had garlic bread. The food was good. The servers were pleasant. The seating was clean and well-kept. The prices were very reasonable. I won't make special trips to visit their restaurant, but might return if I'm shopping in IKEA and hungry. Food is pretty good here but they have a weird pricing system. Food: Swedish & Chicken meatballs are all good - flavorful with the gravy. I liked their mashed potatoes and cranberry sauce. Their frozen yogurt looked really amazing too and it was only $1!! Everything was SUPER cheap. Like, you can get a full meal for under $7. The only problem was I was still hungry after eating a full meal of swedish meatballs. Pizza & drink is $2.50 or $1 per slice of pizza. Kids meals were only $2.50 or something and they have a ton of options. I'm sure all the kids love it here. Weird pricing system is it was $2.50 a kids meals swedish meatballs and $5 for an adult meal but the only difference is 5 meatballs....but if you buy the 5 meatballs separately then it's only $1. Basically that means if you buy a kids meal and a side of meatballs then it adds up to be an adult meal but it costs only $3.50. Incredibly disappointed. I had the Swedish meatballs meal. The meatballs were OK. I thought they were no different from other frozen meatballs I've had from the grocers. The mixed vegetables were flavorless. The mac and cheese had an after taste of sanitizer solution. Condiments, paper products and beverages were either out or order or missing. I've eaten here two times so far, and have tried the chicken tenders plate, Swedish meatball meal, and chocolate cake. The quality and taste of the food is amazing. The chicken tenders are perfectly cooked and crispy, Swedish meatballs that come with mashed potatoes and veggies make for great comfort food, and the chocolate cake is one of the best I've ever had. You get what you pay for. Though the line is long, the irrefutable yumminess of the classic meatballs is hard to pass up. Yes, it's frozen. No, I don't care. After about 2 hours of mindlessly wandering through a maze of kitchen appliances, anything would have tasted like the nectar of the gods. I would recommend taking a gander at their dessert options, as their cheesecake and almond toffee cake were well above their price bracket. Two words. Swedish Meatballs! Who cares if it is (or isn't) horse meat?! It's delicious! The place is set up cafeteria style, and there is an abundance of tables & chairs. Good food for a good price. Even cheaper during certain times, and sometimes even free when you spend a certain amount in the store; just hang on to your receipt and be on the lookout for this special - it'll be advertised throughout the place. I don't really recommend the salmon though; tried it once and wish I ordered the meatballs instead. Breakfast is good and cheap too. So are their hotdogs! The restaurant itself is crowded but nice, they have a range of items on the menu, everything from sandwiches to salmon fillets. They have carts to push your food, bottled and fountain drink options, and the taste is pretty good. And well balanced.... the Swedish meatballs are good, the potatoes (have you craving more more more) the veggies are warm and have the yummy crunch, the Lingonberry (tastes like cranberry) are good, overall it's a great place to hangout. read more

I'm addicted to meatballs. There, I've said it. What I actually think I'm addicted to is the lingonberry jelly - which they barely give you any of anymore when you order the traditional Swedish Meatball dinner. Between the switch to mashed potatoes from those wonderful little roasted red ones and the paltry amount of jam, I'd be tempted to only give them only 3 stars. But when 99-cents will get you a hearty breakfast and just over $6 will get you a meal of 15 Swedish meatballs & a boatload of gravy, mashed potatoes, lingonberry jam with a drink and your choice of soup or salad - I really can't drop them that far and I do hit up the cafe pretty much whenever I visit the store. Seating is plentiful and nice and airy with large floor-ceiling windows that let in lots of light. They even have an area more suited to those with little ones with a tv showing cartoons. (Haven't sung along to Interplanet Janet in years before having lunch last week.) Just remember to busy your own tray when you're done - carts are provided in the center of the dining area behind a partial wall. Yeah, yeah, yeah.....blah blah blah.... its clean, its cheap and its a convenient stopping point 1/2 way through the store before you enter the home decor, kitchen and self-service areas. Me.... I came here with my daughter just to check out the place for future mommy meet ups since kids eat FREE on Tuesdays with purchase of adult entree. We came around noon on a Thursday, not a lot of people there which was great. I came with a stroller, trying to figure out how I was going to do this! It's cafeteria style. You grab a tray, tell the workers what you want, and they put your plate together. The 2 ladies giving people their food didn't look too happy. Nevertheless, I was able to make it to the register with the tray and stroller but the cashier helped me to a seat which was soooo nice of her. They have all varieties of seating - family style, couches, round tables, high tables. I love it! I got the Swedish meatballs with veggies and mashed potatoes, and I got my daughter the chicken fingers and french fries. The food was decent for the price. When this IKEA opened its restaurant, the food was great at a great price. The price still cannot be beat, however, the quality of the food prep has gone down hill. You get what you pay for. For the super cheap breakfast you can have powdered scrambled egg lumps, pancakes that have been sitting around, and old tasting sausages pulled from a container of hot water. When I went, the lingonberry sauce was at the end and was almost all gone. A ladle was sunk in the sauce. I thought that it looked unsanitary and so I avoided it all together despite it being a favorite sauce of mine. The coffee was quite awful tasting too. This marks to horrible meals. The last was bad tasting salmon for lunch. After that lunch IKEA closed the restaurant for renovations. I hoped for a better experience when they reopened. Now that it is back open, I do not see any improvements. If you are shopping and hungry I recommend just grabbing a hot dog downstairs on the way out. read more

Where's the lingonberry juice?!? I was a tad bummed, but ended up getting the 0.1% alcoholic pear cider. I thought it was pretty odd when the cashier told me the cider had 0.1% alcohol in it. Uhm, 0.1% alcohol? I have more alcohol when I make marsala chicken, but I guess somebody conplained. Anyway, I got the stuffed chicken breast with mashed potatoes and steamed veggies (more like steamed carrots only). Actually, at member price of $4.99, it was pretty deliciously tasty. The chicken was breaded and stuffed with melted brie and mozzarella and cranberries. It was even toddler approved. Granted, the tables and floors need a bit more attention; there were spills everywhere and the tables were filthy. When I am at Ikea, I always make sure I stop by to eat the Swedish meatballs. They are just that good. I even pay the extra dollar to get five more meatballs. I love it with a side of mac and cheese and the raspberry sauce. The restaurant is not fancy by no means. It is definitely cafeteria style, where you pick what food you want, fill up your own drink and get your own utensils. I find it strange they don't offer straws. After looking at all the sofas and trying them out, Goldilocks is tired and hungry. One too hard one too soft. U get the point. I stopped in for a quick bite and it's super fast and looks pretty good. I grabbed a chicken wrap and it was tasty but needed extra sauce but they have BBQ self serve so all is well. I ate half because it was filling. I like the huge dining area with vast quagmire of seats. The menu is displayed digitally on a board that switches with entrees. The drink bar is self serve and they use real Glasses. Yeah! So nice to have this instead of a plastic or paper cup. Grab a tray and pick a entree or just a delicious dessert. I skipped a dessert this time but maybe next time. I know I have more shopping to do here soon. read more

What can I say....my kids love it here. for some reason they love to walk around the place and then eat here on the cheap. Amazingly, if you are a vegan, this is still a decent place to be. The fish is good and there are plenty of veggie choices. The day we were here, they had a musician playing guitar. The Swedes know how to do it right. Only problem we had was that we had a cart of stuff and you cant really take carts into the seating area. It made it a little difficult to deal with. read more

What a curious collection of food they have at this cafe(teria)! The good: You get a faux-Swedish experience if you opt for the meatballs with a side of mashed potatoes. They also have some traditional American options (chicken fingers with fries). Ample dessert options for those who decide to pass on the meager salad offering. The bad: Sometimes those meatballs have been sitting out for a while! This place, like the store, can get SUPER crowded on the weekends so watch out for that.
