Checked out Ike's Love & Sandwiches that opened up in my hood recently. Always happy to see a new eatery in the Hood! Having spotted the 4.3 rating on Yelp, and the 4.1 score on Google, I figured this is a sandwich joint worth checking out! This San Francisco migrant was interesting to say the least. One of the amazing things they can brag about is the quantity of distinctive types and names sandwiches they offer. At my count 52 of them are shown on the menu board and with 5 bread styles. Second is the individual sandwiches presented and their names like Matt Cain; Da Vinci; Jim Rome; We're Just Friends; Adam Richman; Backstabber; Going Home For Thanksgiving; Handsome Owl; Time Travelers Wife; just to name a few. And, I might add that these handhelds were large and stuffed to the gills with the ingredients relating to each sandwich style creation. My Wife tried the Barry Bonds and I had the Damon Bruce. Satisfactory. Thirdly, they come in only one size! Big! Very big! Bloating I might say. Some folks simply don't have the capacity to indulge or consume such largesse! My selections were overall acceptable, though nothing unique to them. Albeit each being extravagantly loaded, apparently fresh ingredients and meats, but lacking distinctiveness. Again, not bad, not great, just average in my book. This sandwich shop exudes extravagance that seems to get lost in a shuffle of other local, well established Samicheries (Fire, Jersey, Cheba, Zookz). Lastly - My Wife and I are not fond of arrogance and disrespect from a counter person! And this is the first time we have been charged for water, ever. Not bottled water, a cup of water... $2.49! Our first and possibly last visit to Ike's has most definitively been a memorable one! read more

GRAND OPENING ALERT! I loved attending the grand opening yesterday. It was a blast. I'm a huge fan of Ike's and I can confidently say that each sandwich is made with love and with such a unique flair. The signature creations make Ike's unique and special. It's not just a sandwich it's a love story between you and your sandwich , truly. My all time favorite is the Spiffy Tiffy and I'm SO glad I can get my favorite sandwich at ANY Ike's location. read more

Ike's at South Mountain is just as awesome as you'd hope--great food, friendly staff, and plenty of options to keep you coming back. I ordered the Phil Mickelson (BBQ chicken, bacon, and an onion ring), and it was fantastic. Packed with flavor, made fresh, and served on that signature Dutch Crunch bread that takes every sandwich to the next level. There's a ton of sandwiches to choose from--literally hundreds if you count the full Ike's menu from other locations, which you can order from here if you know the name. It makes each visit a new chance to try something different. Service was quick and friendly, and there's seating both inside and outside, which is a nice bonus if you want to hang out for a bit. Overall, solid spot with great energy and top-tier sandwiches. I'll definitely be back. read more

So excited that Ike's opened in South Mountain. Today I was in the area, so I ordered a couple of sandwiches: one for me and one for my bride. I got a Matt Cain for each of us. Mine had Dutch Crunch bread and hers was Gluten Free. Ike's has so many options: from meaty, to veggie to vegan, to Martian. Most everything available on our planet (and maybe Mars) was available on Ike's sandwich menu. Both lunches were stuffed with meat and veggies as always, dressed with dirty sauce and served on fresh bread. I devoured mine upon returning home but my wife split hers amongst the next two meals. This was my first time trying Ike's. Walking in, you are immediately hit with color and busy walls lol it's nice and bright. I love it! The staff greeted me and talked about the different options with me because the menu options are huge and I was a little overwhelmed lol I wound up going with a fan favorite--the ménage a trois. I got it on Dutch bread. It's a busy sandwich but it was SO GOOD. All of the flavors work well together. I added pickles and mustard and it still worked. The sandwich is huge and can be eaten for 2 meals. It also came with a sucker, which I think is so cool and cute. The store was clean. There's seating. There are also drinks, sweets, and chips available for purchase. I'll be coming back to try all of the different sandwiches I was torn between! read more

Ike's is always a treat -- they just opened up this new location in South Mountain area of Phoenix! Dang this place was BUZZING when I stopped by (knowing they've been open a few days at this point). To get there, you go straight back from the turn in and it's right next to Crumbl. At least while it's brand new, they have one of those - fashioned to look like Ike, of course! They have a few special sandwiches just for this location, including the Broken Wing. Soooo many unique and amazing sandwiches -- many bread options as well, but you gotta get the Dutch Crunch bread! read more

The Dutch bread is perfect. Definitely give it a try over your usual choice of bread. The music choice is fun and it's a very welcoming environment. The staff is great and very friendly. So far I've tried the #111 and the 34. I've enjoyed both but after trying the first sandwhich with the regular amount of dirty sauce, I would recommend ordering your sandwhich with light dirty sauce. The regular amount is a little overpowering. Overall great place! read more

Pretty damn good sammy!!! But I also have to say that the customer service was absolutely fuckin SPOT ON! Super friendly and helpful. A lot of people in the food service industry are complacent these days, a "don't give a fuck attitude" the ladies there were great. Kudos bc that means the management must be good too. read more

I tried this location twice to make sure the first not so great experience wasn't a fluke or someone having a bad day. The first trip there the lady making the sandwich wasn't very friendly but the sandwich was fine. The second time around the store was empty and seemingly only had 1 person working, he was very nice but screwed up my sandwich (Jim Rome) was missing the avocado. While I understand this location has only been open a month I wouldn't recommend coming here, definitely not the general Ike's experience. read more
