So bad that I don't know where to begin. We stopped by because we wanted a martini and figured a "martini bar" would make a good martini. We ordered chocolate martinis and got chocolate milk with a touch of vodka. Seriously, half and half and Hersheys syrup. Save your time and money - go to any other bar. read more

So sad and frustrating to see an otherwise good establishment miss the market just because they don't take the time to do their research. At the Fenix, the wine is decent, the beer menu is appropriate and the martinis are just what the 50+ crowd wants but they just "Don't Get It" as Dr Phil would say. This could be a great place for the sophisticated crowed if they only understood great 80's New Wave/Alternative music should be background music in a lounge and something to shout over. Thanks friends but we danced and played this music on our cassette so we know all of the words. When we go to a martini lounge we are looking for good wine, interesting martinis and background music. Again Molly McGuires, who is running the Fenix has missed the mark. Please, please, please, put the wall back and for God's sake hire some experienced, sophisticated talent and learn your market. If the Fenix is going to be a lounge then make it a lounge with low lights, good local jazz singers.... Ms K and the Hot Notes are you listening and learn what background music should be. Posh lounge located in downtown Phoenixville. Seems a bit oddly placed for the area but worth stopping in. Comfty couches and seating make for a great conversation area. They have a very extensive martini list if that is your thing and service is very on point. I just opted for my normal double titos and club. Drink prices were reasonable ($10.50). I did not eat here but would definitely love to go back and try the tapas. read more

I found the staff to be racist. Fully served tables next to us after they arrived after us. In fact, the entire room was getting service, drinks, checks, etc. When we got up and walked to bar to order, we were told to sit and wait for someone to come take our order. 15 minutes later, after no one came, went to bar again to order, and told they were too busy...while we were next to 2 people who just got drinks (as did others). You're welcome for a star. Terrible service, unprofessional staff, no apologies. I think they were happy we gave up and walked out. read more

Honestly, this place really sucks ass. It's owned by the same douche bags that own Molly Maguire's next door. And that place sucks too. Yeah, yeah, there is always a good crowd at Molly's but I put no stock in that as they are all the young dumb crowd and just there for drinks and to get laid. I've been to both several times and can tell you that the staff changes like rain. On this night, our server FIRST apologized for the wait on drinks as there were no martini glasses. As if a martini bar should need those. I counted the patrons, there were 52 in a bar that holds three times that. Our server said that they went next door (to Molly's which they share, apparently, kitchen and restaurant stuff with) to get clean glassware. So 40 minutes later we get our drinks. Then comes the second excuse, Molly's kitchen is busy so we wait another 35 minutes for appetizers (the menu is tappas so excuse the app reference). Then comes the third excuse, the staff is new so they are having trouble making drinks. My friend ordered, or should I say re-ordered a drink, and they screwed it up, BADLY. I had two very good friends that worked at these two restaurants. One was a GM at Molly's the other as a bartender at Fenix. Both said the family that owns these places really screw their employees over and thus the turnover. And they have no clue how to operate a REAL restaurant. Won't be back. And I suggest you avoid both like the plague. read more

In my first review I gave this super swanky lounge 4 stars indicating they still had some wrinkles to work out. Well, they have worked them out. This place easily competes with any bar in the city (philly) and is easily the best lounge bar in the suburbs. We have visited several times and they really have some great martinis. They even have 8 different types of stuffed olives for their martinis for those finicky folks that like to flip their pinky's out when they sip their drinks. They have an tasty tappas menu and the prices are very good. The music is light and lounge inspired and later in the night transforms into DJ pumping house music. Awesome is all I can say but I still think it can take another step to get to a 5th star. I want them open even later and more often. I'll keep you up to date. read more

Bare brick walls and a hipster vibe make this place similar in appearance to Winedown in West Reading (my town's only wine bar, sniffle), just bigger. Unlike Winedown, I guess it wants to be an urban-style club. It would not be for me on the weekends if they are cultivating a Scene, which is what their site implies. By some crazy explanation we could not understand, the bartender told us that none of the wines on the list were available, only the house pours. Hunh? And plenty of them looked pretty good. So I had my standard Hendricks martini with the ice from the shaker (not just any ice) on the side. Sorry to get all prissy, but I do not consider fruity mixed drinks in a martini glass to be martinis; these are cocktails, not martinis. If you are drinking a martini, it is a specific classic drink made of gin and vermouth and served up... maybe, just maybe, vodka could be an alternative if you are not a purist. My bf enjoyed a bottle of Lambic, which we were glad to see on the menu because he is extremely picky about beer (while I can be happy with most any hop-bomb). Two drinks, and the bill was over $20, but I am not paying $8 a glass for a Canyon Creek Merlot or whatever it was -- can't you get the double bottle for that much at the store? I had no complaints about my martini, and the bartender kept an eye on us and took care of us even though we were far from the bar. We've had the black and tan hummus dish in the past but don't come here for the eats. All ages of people were here when we were, not just scenester 20-somethings, so we felt welcome. read more

I wish I could say the food and music were great but we never got that far. I'm so glad I made a reservation 2 days before, dressed up and drove 30 minutes just to find out that they were closed to a private party. Why did they call me to confirm the reservation if they had a private party planned?? The sign on the door said "private party closed till 7" and our reservation was at 7. There are no prices at all on the drink menu. My girl and my friend were curious so I asked the average price of the martini's and I was told $9 - $12 dollars. A little bit pricey, but its a nicer place. No big deal. It had a pretty cool atmosphere. And in my opinion worth it. I heard this place went through a bit of a change to make it more appealing to the craft beer scene. They have a respectable bottle selection of about 15 choices. I ordered a 22oz Voodoo Love Child thinking prices would be on par with the martinis. Then the bill game... $22. I checked comparisons of some near by bars. $12. I've lived in Phoenixville for 3 years. Every time I walk by this place it is empty. Now I know why. Some beers actually should be $22. Or $44 a bottle. Or more. It's because they deserve to be! It's called supply and demand. Since this bar is empty nearly every time I walk past it, there is clearly no demand for this establishment in Phoenixville. Therefore, prices should reflect that. Charge a few extra bucks to keep the riff raff out. But be reasonable. I have never been to a craft beer bar in my entire life that keeps the prices hidden. It's very important to us. Not because we want to order the cheapest beer. But because we want to compare cost to other beers we enjoy. I told the waitress it was absurd. When she came back with my card, I told her to tell the manager if he wants people to actually come back , then to put the prices on the menu, or charge a reasonable amount for the drinks (preferably both). She then offered a discount which was very nice of her and brought the beer down to the price it should have been. Lobster nachos, martini's, and a large bottle of specialty beer was a fun way to relax on a Friday night before going to dinner. My wife and cousin picked out a Flirtini and a White Grape Martini, from an extensive martini menu and both were as good as a described. I went with a champagne size bottle for Brooklyn Brewery bottle fermented beer, which I thoroughly enjoyed popping the cork on this bottle of beer at our table. Though several people around us looked a tad worried I might fire the cork across the room, all went well. No eyes shot out. The lobster nachos were tasty and fresh. Disclaimer: The lobster nachos are not the gigantic, typical bar food sized. They are modestly sized at best. Dress was casual to business casual. Heck they even have pics up on there website with people dressed very casually. Even if you are not a martini drinker, they have an exotic beer menu of upscale American and imported beers. So for our first visit my synopsis of The Fenix is that it provides a great compliment to the the numerous BYOB in Phoenixville and a great place to start or end your night in Phoenixville. read more

Sad find. From the website, it looked like it was a happening place but on a Friday night at 9pm it was dead. If you're coming, don't worry about trying to get a table because they pretty much are all free. Our group got a couple of martinis and beers. Even though they specialize in martinis, the drinks we got weren't memorable. My main issue is the food- ordered the chips with guac and quesadillas. The chips were stale as year old bread and the guac was most def from a bag...not to mention glowing the most unnatural toxic green color. The quesadilla was so tasteless we left two of them there. There were a few customers up at the bar and a few others coming in and out but I understand why the place is quiet. I don't see a return here in the future. read more

The Fenix has a hipster interior and oddly included "dance area" which gives off a vibe that basically screams "Calling all douche bags and lonely middle aged women." But I digress. We've been here several times, usually after drinking just enough to forego our sober reservations towards the establishment. The Fenix is not large, and by trying to include one area of the small space as a disco/dance/DJ/confusing area it really cuts the place in half, unless you like being lambasted with bad music on sub-quality speakers. The drinks are overpriced. I see they are now including food as well, which I have not tried. I would rate the martinis as a 6/10, some are creative, but I've never been wow'd by anything I've ordered there. They are usually pretty strong, which is often why we end up stopping in for one after a night at the other bars. Overall The Fenix is depressingly underwhelming. The only real upside is that we've never experienced bad service. Oh, and order the whiskey martini at your own peril, it's a night & next day wrecker. read more

I've been to this martini bar a few times. It seems a bit out of place for Phoenixville. It's really trendy looking, it looks like it should be in the city. My fiance and I went on Friday to use the Living Social deal I purchased. We arrived and sat at one of the half booth tables. We ordered drinks. They have a great beer and wine selection. I ordered a pinot grigio. We also ordered the bbq tacos and Mediterranean platter. They arrived promptly. The tacos were a little dry, but had a nice flavor. The hummus platter was ok. The grilled pita was really tasty and the portion size was large. Overall we had a pleasant experience. I didn't have a martini on this visit, but I have on others, and while they are $9-10, they are tasty and they don't skim on the liquor. read more

The martinis and specialty drinks at the Fenix are excellent. I would recommend every drink that I have had there, and I have been on several occasions. There are options for people that like more "fruity" drinks and for those that prefer something a little stronger. The only draw back is that it is extremely noisy and loud inside. It is very difficult to carry on a normal conversation. It is not because the music is too loud, but the space is so small that everyones conversations mingle together. It's still a great place, but I would recommend going in the warmer months and sitting out on the patio. read more

This place has given my friends and I the worst service ever! Been here twice, first time better than this past time. The first time the service was bad but we actually saw our waitress even though she kept messing up our order. This past time the waitress who was also the only one came over as soon as we sat down. Asked what we wanted to drink- brought us waters, etc didn't come again until one other time later which was when we got our checks. Owner/other guy or whatever came up to tell us they didn't have the appetizer we ordered so we got something else and that's when we placed our main courses. We never got silverware or napkins during the whole dining experience. Only got one refill of water in our plastic cups. Someone had to go up and go to the bar to get napkins twice. Didn't see the waitress again until 3-4 hours later when she took away our plates that had been sitting there for about 2.5 hours. We asked for check. I went to go use the ladies room before leaving and saw my waitress walk right out as soon as using the bathroom and not wash her hands. GROSS! Tip: Need more waiters (who wash their hands) Honestly food is great but step up the f****** service!! read more

Very disappointing experience. Paid $13 for martinis in small martini glasses with about 3/4" of room at the top. Complained to the manager and he gave us song and dance about "they have a standard pour" and all the drinks are that size. Either you are a chic bar that is expensive and worth it, or you are a diveish bar that has low prices where you get what you pay for. Had a gift card for here. If I ever get another one I'll just burn it to stay warm instead of this experience. The place yields zero benefit from having a no smoking law on local books, it smells like an ashtray. A $12 glass of lemonade seems steep, especially without any discernable liquor in it. If there was even a full ounce of actual whiskey in this I'll eat my shoes. The tables are too wide, the stools are too short for a person under 6'5" to reach their food (or talk to their drinking buddy). The menu is all over the place, the decor and music match about as well as something Dennis Rodman would put together. The beer menu isn't accurate or the wait staff has no idea. I've never written a review like this but honestly this seems like they were trying to do a shitty job. Unless all of this was intentional and if so... Well done? Why weren't they playing trad music the whole time? Was it the "Jazz/blues" moniker? Whippedtini was delicious and service was good but ambience could use some help. Was much louder in there than advertised because acoustics are weird in the building.
