Always on the lookout for a new pizzeria to try, I was in Fairfield today and found Il Panino. Yelp reviews were very good, so I gave it a shot. I have to say, I really loved it! The restaurant has the feel of an old time place. Nothing super fancy, just good pizza. Since it was my first time here, I decided to go for a plain slice. It was excellent! There were also many other pies with great looking toppings on the counter to choose from. Prices very reasonable. Parking not a problem with a big lot. The woman serving behind the counter very friendly. I'll be back to try some different slices or a sandwich soon! read more

Pretty good Thin Crust Style Pizza here at IL Panino, so far I've tried their Spicy Chicken Arrabiata Pizza which had good flavor and a decent amount of delicious Seasoned Chicken chunks. This was a unique take on a classic Italian dish and I found it to be a standout slice here. I've also tried their Margherita Square and thought it was just okay. I definitely would've appreciated more San Marzanno Sauce and fresh Mozzarella on the slice than what they had provided. In my opinion the guy making the pies could be doing a much better job. Pretty sure the first thing they teach you in pizza training is cover the pies with sauce and cheese. Anyway, you'll find alot of indoor and outdoor seating plus plenty of parking in this shared strip lot which is situated right next to Calandra's Bakery. Very much enjoyed my quick lunch here. Friendly staff and, for me, very good plain pizza slice. I like the kind that has a slight flop at the tip when properly warmed up. So you have to fold it in to get that first awesome bite with double cheese (you know, because you folded it over). If you eat pizza like an East Coaster, you pick it up and fold it in half. While you are holding it, tilted upright, you should see some golden oil dripping onto your plate. For me, this is the perfect slice. The slices I had with topping were good, but not as good as the plain slice. They have some other entrees there but we only got a few slices. They have a fountain drink dispenser so you can grab a refill if you want it. While I was there, the person who took my order offered to get our drinks and delivered them to our table. Also, a large, private parking lot so easy parking at no charge. Bathroom (one for all) is all the way in the back. Worked great for washing my hands, before and after. In the mood for a good slice? We said yes, 1st person then came back and denied taking our order. We ordered it to go. And sat down. A 3rd server brought our 4 slices to the table. I said to her this is to go we told them that. She said very snotty..."You didn't tell me anything. " Ahe stormed away as I called out to her "I didn't say you said it, I said we told them." VERY NASTY STAFF. I ordered a plain and sausage slice to go and it was up I gat about two minutes. I have to admit it was pretty awesome pizza and the service was super friendly. Crust was nice and crispy, it had the right amount of sauce and cheese, sauce was great and the crust had a nice flavor to it as well. The sausage was very flavorful and didn't make the slice greasy. After work on Friday I stopped at lL Panino Pizzeria to pick up a pizza pie. Having had one of their delicious sandwiches, I felt that I should give their pizza a go. I went to their website and was surprised to discover that you could select from 25 different choices. Their website" is easy to navigate. First you chose the size, Individual 10" ($11.95+) or a Large 16"($16.95"+). Chose your crust, regular or gluten free, Extra toppings beyond what is stated in the pies description can be added. There are over15 to chose from. If your pie does not included pepperoni, it would be an extra $2.50. I choose the 16" Special Pizza at $16.95 which included: meatballs, mushrooms, onions, pepperoni, peppers and sausage. The sausage and sauce was a little spicy but really created an outstanding pizza. I will definitely be going back. They have outside dining and Covid-19 rules are adhered to. The interior is larger than most pizzerias. tables and chairs are placed on the perimeter. I liked the iconic photos which hang on the wall. Definitely our go to spot for pizza. We come here every couple of weeks for my husbands cheat meal. Lol. We can't get enough of these 2 pies, we always order the same thing, no menu needed. Food is always hot and fresh. Service is outstanding, restaurant is always clean and quiet. Definitely a place where u can enjoy the food and your company. We just got off a flight & a 2hr drive from Connecticut. All I wanted was some yummy pizza & this place delivered! The Sicilian crust cheese was amazing & the pepperoni was perfection. This is my favorite place to grab lunch during the work week. Everything I have gotten here has been fresh and delicious. But if this is your first time going then get the Blackened Grilled Chicken Salad. This is by far the best thing on the menu. The amount of chicken you get surpasses any normal salad and is always juicy and cooked perfectly. The salad has goat cheese and candy walnuts that are the perfect balance this salad needs. Also don't try substituting the dressing, the white balsamic is amazing. You deff can't go wrong here. I would order ahead as they do get pretty busy and there is often a wait. My wife and I stopped here for lunch before going to a local brewery. They had a decent amount of tables outside and we're distanced pretty well from others. Our waitress was very nice toward us, and made us feel welcomed. It was nice to get some warm rolls to start off with because we were starving. My business partner and I decided that this would be a perfect place to hold our staff Christmas dinner. So in the beginning of November I called to see if they had Dec 20th at 6:30/6:45 available. They said they did and they put us down for the room. The girl told me that gabby would call me in a couple of days and discuss menu options. Well I hadn't heard from anyone in over 2 weeks and I decided to call. The girl confirmed that our party was still in the book and she took my number again and told me gabby would call me soon. Another few days went by, no call. Now thanksgiving has passed, and it's December, the party is in 3 weeks! I called again, and the same response was given. Finally I get a call back, she said she would send me a catering menu via email. I said well can't I just order a bunch of apps when we get there and then everyone order their own dinner!? She said yes that would be fine. Then double checked my time for 6:30pm and I said yes. Ok good... 2 days before my party I got a call asking for the time of my party Bc another party wanted to book. I told them again 6:30pm and they said ok perfect. We got there the at 6:30pm and the party room looked really beautiful. The decor was so festive and the tables were accommodating for gifts and there was plenty of space! It looked great! So on a Friday night, on their door, it says that they are open til 11pm. Perfect! We order apps and my guests arrived and we were having good convo and all the apps came out! One of my guests hit a pot hole got a flat and was gonna be late. No problem. We order our dinners and they came out super fast! The food was good. We always do a bunch of games and gift exchanges so we knew we had time! My late staff member walks in at 8:05pm. We ask the waitress to give her a menu and she said, oh but the kitchen closed at 9pm! 9pm!! Wtf. Ok so it's 8:10 now it's still open! So she orders and eats. We ask for a dessert menu and some coffee. "So don't do coffee here and the only desserts we have are cannolis, zepploes, and stuffed ravioli shells Fried with cannoli cream." Now Me and my business partner have been here several times where they have coffee served. It became clear at 8pm that they were now starting to rush us out. I could've went to calandras next door to get some pastries and a cake or something but everyone was starting to feel really awkward. The staff started mopping the floors with caution wet floor signs everyone. The stools were on top of the tables....it was 8:45pm on a Friday night! They literally were staring at us and waiting for us to leave and shut the lights and locked the doors behind us walked out as we did. It was extremely rude. We had booked this event over a month before we had the event. It's very unfortunate Bc my business partners family has had 4 parties here with over 45 ppl and now they will be taking their parties elsewhere. When you're closing time is clearly listed as 11pm don't close at 9pm. Very rude and we all felt extremely uncomfortable. The 3 stars are for the room looking festive, and the food being good. So this place introduced me to my new absolute favorite salad: the blackened chicken salad. They use their own recipe of blended spices on the chicken over spring mix with dried cranberries, goat cheese, candied walnuts, red onion, grape tomatoes, and homemade white balsamic. I omitted the candied walnuts due to an allergy but didn't feel like this salad was missing anything at all. The real star is the homemade white balsamic. Last night I ordered a large pie half mushroom and it was a little overcooked with the mushroom side being a little burnt. I also ordered a personal thinny thin Pizza and it was excellent. The thin crust was cooked to perfection and the cheese was just the right color and not burnt. I also ordered a house salad which was an abundance of lettuce with some other vegetables and a side of salad dressing, not much to Write home about. Not sure if I would go back. My husband and I had our rehearsal dinner here. Everything from planning to eating there that night was amazing. The food is phenomenal and the room they have is so cute and a nice size... plenty of room for 30 people to eat and mingle and the price was good too. Since it's BYOB we were able to provide our own liquor and they set it up for us. My wedding block was also at the Best Western Plus right next door so they delivered the most delicious sandwiches to us while we were getting ready on the day of the wedding. My mom and I kept in touch with Gabby throughout the planning process and it was such a pleasure! We've been to IL Panino three times now for lunch and each time the food and the service has been excellent. Everyone there is friendly and you can tell they take pride in serving good, fresh-made, flavorful cuisine. It looks like a run-of-the-mill Jersey Italian joint - clean but pretty average interior with pie by the slice behind the glass counter display and a fridge of cans and bottles opposite the counter. So you don't go there for the ambience, you go there for the food and friendly service. I am totally hooked on the IL Panino special - sauteed chicken breast with prosciutto, fresh baby spinach, and melted mozzarella in a sherry white wine sauce. Generous portions of chicken breast and the sauce includes sauteed baby plum tomatoes, minced shallots, and slices of garlic. They don't skimp on the prosciutto or the baby spinach, either. Perfectly prepared! I always have plenty to take home and to enjoy for lunch the next day. The serving is substantial. I need to ask the name of the woman behind the counter who takes our orders and serves our entrees. She is so pleasant and helpful. So when we want a fairly quick lunch and good Italian food in a no pretenses kind of place, we head to Il Panino in Fairfield! read more
