There wasn't a grain of sand to be found, and it was absolutely loaded with meaty, perfectly cooked, tender clams. The flavor was unforgettable. It managed to be creamy without feeling heavy. You know when a chowder leaves a thick coating of cream in your mouth that lingers long after each bite? This wasn't like that at all, and it was perfect. I also enjoyed the Caesar salad. I've seen it presented this way before, and while it does put a little more work on the diner, it's really not a big deal to use a fork and knife. The lettuce was crisp and cold, the dressing tasted homemade, and the crouton crumble was a game changer. I decided to add the seared blackened scallops, and they were cooked perfectly. The upcharge was a little more than I would have liked for the amount, but it was worth it. After all, who doesn't love a scallop straight from Montauk? That scallop traveled less to get to my plate than I did to get to Hampton Bays. The drinks were festive, the wine was cold, and the atmosphere was lively. We'd been trying to order another round for a bit when a guy who seemed to be one of her regulars came up and ordered food to go, but no drink, which she immediately started pressing him on loudly, saying "If you don't order a drink you don't stay long, and then I'm going to be so f*cking bored here..." I guess having a bar with other people who want a drink is boring? Her conversation with this man continued and was kind of inappropriate - she talked about wanting to dropkick some kids at one point, which, what? Why? My wife's sister's husband got a burger he loved and his wife got some type of a risotto dish. Everyone's food was great and the drinks were amazing as well. We stopped, were greeted cheerfully, and quickly found parking before heading to the window to order. My daughter had been there before, but this was my first visit, and we were both treated very well by the staff, including the Vice President of the Shinnecock Nation, who teased me for comparing their lobster rolls with ones I had tried previously at the original Lobster Roll in Montauk, Lunch in Southampton, and Cousins' Maine Lobster trucks back in Pennsylvania. He said theirs use fresh, not frozen lobster meat and are better. We both got the four ounce "Guppy" served Hamptons style - warm lobster topped with warm butter and chives over a bed of arugula served on a toasted brioche roll that came with a generous portion of classic shoestring fries and a pickle. Our sandwiches and fries were terrific, and I even got to try a Montauk iced tea, a local favorite that has half the sugar of Gold Peak sweet tea and came highly recommended by one of the private chefs in the Hamptons that I follow on social media. It came with three large pieces of fresh fish. The fish was lightly coated in batter and fried gold brown. The french fries were good as well as the fish, no complaints. The potato chips, I'm assuming they were homemade but after a few minutes became cold and oily, it didn't want me craving more.
