I'm not the one to give a bad review but here I am... Came into this place with good expectations but was quickly disappointed. We ordered the gnocchi piamontese and manicotti which came with garlic bread and a choice of salad. Our choice of salads were ceaser and house salad, the ceaser salad was pretty okay on other hand the house salad was placed aside, it had way too much oil and the dressing was watered down. The "garlic bread", where was the garlic? The taste was odd, tasted very strong on rosemary not garlic, but the bread was soft. The gnocchi was soft but their "pink sauce" smelled like Mac and cheese, not sure why but I couldn't help but keep smelling it because why does it smell like that. Decided to take a bite and the after taste was a bit Burnt. The manicotti, the ricotta taste a little funky as if it were expired. The service was quick but you would think that after somebody asks for the check and see that the food was untouched they would ask if anything was wrong... but no that wasn't the case, no questions asked, no customer service provided, no cafe given. We literally took one bite off our plate and really tried to eat the garlic bread since we were hungry but not even hunger got us to eat the food. $36 later and I'm still hungry with a stomach ache. read more

Called ahead and was told that they couldn't tell me how long the wait was--went in about 45 minutes later and sat immediately. We had a server in training who was friendly and did well & the vibe was like walking into family dinner in a busy house which I love. Food wise, we had mussels, veal parm and tortellini. Looks small and I'd probably describe it as a hole in the wall as somebody not familiar with the area, but what a pleasant surprise! The portions are large and the bread was fantastic!!! The entrees come with a salad which we all loved the house Italian dressing, I dipped lots of bread in it! Service was phenomenal. They gave us more bread and we're very attentive. My water was never empty. The reception area was very welcoming- greeted us when we entered and thanked us as we walked out. I eat a lot, but I was able to box up some more bread and half my meal and eating it now for lunch! Good Italian, great service, reasonably priced. An OG in CFL for sure and still plating damn good Italian food in a charming space worked by a talented staff. My early dinner was definitely going to involve sauce and pasta. Getting the staples right is a must. Delicious bread with a nice crunch to it and everything homemade is worth a try. The house red wine vinaigrette was just right and I'm always grateful when I get fresh lettuce and decent wedges of tomatoes in my salad. My spinach ravioli was an excellent choice. But that (homemade) tiramisu was OUTSTANDING. Sadly, the wine I fancied was bottle only (sweet red, Sangue di Giuda). But, fortunately, they serve Acqua Panna (perfect bottled water). I came here with my family tonight for the first time. I would like to begin this review with the service. Eric, our server, was absolutely excellent. He was friendly, helpful, and kind. His enthusiasm and rightful pride in his work were very refreshing to experience. Every restaurant should have an Eric. The ambiance feels very homey and casual. It's comfortable, warm, and inviting. It feels family owned and operated. And now, on to the food! To start, we shared a Caesar salad and split a bottle of wine (Chianti Classico). The dressing was delicious on the salad, the croutons had the perfect crunch, and the lettuce was fresh. We were happy with our wine selection, as it was exactly what we wanted--a dry red. We also ordered a calamari appetizer, but something happened and it ended up coming after our entrees. No problem! We really liked that it was thinly breaded, and the marinara sauce to dip it in was good. My only critiques with it are that 1) they were hard to eat because the breading kept sliding off and 2) it would have been nice if there had been some pepperoncini or something mixed in. The complimentary bread was good as well. It was soft and buttery. We saved some pieces for the gamberi cioppino because we wanted to dip our bread in it. What arrived, however, was something completely different from the cioppino that we are used to. It was not a seafood stew, but rather a tomato sauce over noodles with shrimp, green peppers, and onion mixed in. We read the menu description, but we still expected it to at least resemble cioppino in some capacity due to the name. It tasted pretty good but was not even remotely cioppino. They should really change the name. Anyway, enough about that. Onto the next dish... The Gnocchi Piamontese was yummy. The gnocchi itself had a good texture and the sauce was creamy and tasty. The Funghetti pasta was also good. We chose penne noodles for it. It had a hearty sauce and large slices of mushrooms, and was very filling. My favorite dish was the linguine con vongole (we chose the white clam sauce). It was creamy and garlicky. I only wish there were more clams! To finish up our meal, we shared both of their made in house desserts: tiramisu and cannoli. The tiramisu was not the best I've had, but still pretty good. The cannoli was my favorite between the two, by far. I loved it! I could've eaten 10 of them myself. The filling was perfect, and I think Il Pescatore knows that because they put an extra dollop on the plate as well as on top of the cannolo. Thank you for serving us. Great prices and portions. Stopped in for a quick lunch when we were out running some errands. The location is tucked back and looks almost like you are walking into someone's home. It has some cute décor, but it does look a little dated. It still is cute and makes me think of eating in grandma's house. It was not too busy so we were seated quickly by our server who took our drink order right away. We looked at the menu and I decided on a Caesar salad with grilled chicken. The chicken was cooked well and juicy. The salad was crisp and fresh, but I did not care for their dressing. It did not have much of a Caesar flavor to it. I never eat a lot of dressing so it was not a big issue for me. My daughter had the butter pasta for her dish. She said it was fine and tasted good. Nothing that stood out, but nothing bad at all. We did also start with the Polodori Caprera which was good and came out as expected. We did not have anything really outstanding or bad to share and would come back to try some other dishes when on this side of town, but this experience for us was fine. read more

How have I lived so close and not tried it before?? Seriously, I am gluten-sensitive and figured they probably wouldn't have much for me. That's why. BUT... A friend who doesn't know about my dietary limitations (Vegetarian - but will eat fish if I have to - GF) suggested we go there. I figured I would at least have a salad option, right? Guys. They offer GF Rotini. So I ordered the BOSCAIOLA (eggplant & mushroom in marinara) and it was to die for. Seriously delicious. Like, for real. Il Pescatore has become my go to for delicious, comforting Italian food. The staff is friendly, food is flavorful and price is reasonable. It is a casual dining experience which will leave you fulfilled. Two of my go to's are the tortellini di stefano and the pollo di stefano. The entrees come with a side of garlic bread and a choice of soup or salad. The tortellini is cooked in a meat sauce, smothered in cheese and then baked to perfection. The pollo di stefano is a delicious combination of chicken, sausage, prosciutto, mushrooms, kalamata olives and pepperoncini in a smooth white wine, lemon garlic sauce. I usually get mine with spaghetti topped with marinara. I am not sure if their marinara sauce is made in house but regardless if it is or isn't, it is SO good! I always finish with a slice of tiramisu. I am definitely eating my way through this menu; I highly recommend if you're looking for some warm, comforting Italian food. read more

The waitress was very helpful and understanding about my needing a gluten-free meal. There just weren't a lot of options. The menu does not give any information about the gluten content of the food, so there was a lot of back-and-forth with the server going to the kitchen to ask the cook what's gluten-free. The other celiac person in our party was very happy with her chicken marsala. And the people in our group who did not have any dietary restrictions were all very satisfied. Service was prompt, but the wine quantity and glasses were atypical for reds and a little on the small side. The food was good overall. The snapper was quite good. Stromboli was ok. The meat pizza was large and tasty. Portions were large and enough to share or take home. One member of our party summed it up best, noting that it was like the small pizza/Italian restaurant in a small town. The vibe was a little run down. I was really disappointed with the lasagna order that was a take out order. Portion not even a third of the container. There was absolutely little or no noodles in my dish. The container was filled with tomato sauce and some cheese sauce. I would at least expect the serving size to be at least enough to fill a small eater. Yes still hungry after completing the dish. Portion was like a 6 yr old child size. Very disappointed but my try one more time before I cross off of my do not return list. I had high hopes for this place. I frequently go to Pho Hoa and always wondered if the Italian place next door was good. It seemed to be busy when I went for an early dinner and that usually a good sign, but maybe not this case. I ordered the calamari , which was good but way too salty. For my entree, I had the clams linguine in white sauce. The clams were sandy and the linguine sauce was tasteless. I opted to take it back home. To finish, I had some tiramisu that is homemade, I didn't think it was too special either. All in all, it was approximately $45 that I definitely find value in. Look elsewhere. read more

I traditionally try to support small businesses and this was one that I visited quite a bit. Unfortunately, tonight I visited for the last time. We stopped in for a quick bite and decided to order dinners. I ordered the chicken piccata and my guest ordered the chicken franchise, which is not a menu item, but has been provided at every visit for the same price as every other chicken dish. It is simply a breaded chicken cutlet with the same sauce as the piccata. We received our food, which was good as usual the bread was a little burnt, but that's OK. Our server provided good service until the end when the check was delivered. We have received a ticket off of an adding machine. One meal was $18.95 the other was 29.95. We thought there was a mistake and asked one of the other servers to get our server. She came over and explained that she asked one of the other servers for the price of that meal and that is what they told her. We explained it was always the same price as the piccata. She went and asked someone and was told 29.95 was in fact the price of the meal. We asked if that was the owner that she had asked and she responded yes. We paid and tipped her without issue but will never return. My biggest issue is if in fact, they were going to charge that much more for chicken because it was breaded we should have been told upfront. Sadly, the minute the owner saw us question the bill he left to the back, leaving the poor server to take responsibility for his decision. The food is average. The portions are decent, but I would never pay that much money for chicken in a place like this it lacks ambience as it is an old building. I don't appreciate being price gouged tonight. My boyfriend and I visited here for his birthday. We decided to venture out as I cook frequently and we wanted to try something new. I tend to steer clear from chain restaurants if at all possible because it looses the authenticity. We were greeted by a staff member outside with an adorable baby and he directed us to the proper entry. Our waiter was very nice and helped me with the proper name of a beer I remember from my time working in an Italian establishment from college. I ordered the carbonara and my partner ordered the chicken parmigiana . We were very happy with the speed of service as our bread, drinks, and salads came out very quickly. My salad was a little overdressed but it was fresh and the veggies were crispy. Pros: 1. The portions are very filling. We both had enough to take home with us which is saying a lot for my boyfriend lol. 2. The food was hot and fresh! My food was piping hot which I was grateful for. I actually had to wait for it to cool down before I ate any. Cons: 1. The food lacked flavor. I hate to say that because everyone was so nice however The marinara sauce tasted as if it was from a can. My carbonara was lacking in garlic and Parmesan cheese so that was a little disheartening. 3.5 stars for the food. In the end this place isn't a 3 star restaurant so I just had to give it a 4 star. When you enter you feel the family vibes of an old Italian mom and pop spot. I look around and I see a large family sitting on the long table having a great time. People who were coming and going seem to know the family who ran the place. To the food, it was somewhat of a letdown after high hopes of a 4.5 review. The salad was a few pieces of room temp lettuce, tom, onion and cucumbers swimming in dressing. The calamari was bland with what tasted like marinara straight out of a can. The Zuppa Di Mare was nothing to rave about either. I don't even remember what my gf got but she didn't enjoy it. Surprising since Italy is her favorite country and she loves Italian food. We got a cannoli for desert that we didn't even finish. To sum it up, everything we had lacked depth of flavor. FABULOUS Real Italian FOOD- I'm so happy we decided to try someplace new and checked out yelp-this place came up and had almost a perfect score-I can see why!!! We had some wine that tasted like sangria, and we each had a different dish to share, you'll see in the photos : Penny pasta, stuffed shells and a combination platter including a meatball on it. You get your choice of a salad or soup I had of time and as much garlic bread as you'd like to. We had chocolate cake~ oh yeah!!!! Prices are reasonable, parking is easy and both are handicap accessible. As we sat there the restaurant filled up more and more. I went with high expectations after reading reviews and it was a complete let down. So my wife wanted to have authentic Italian food instead of chains. We were in the downtown Orlando area at the time and pulled up my trusty yelp and searched authentic Italian food. This restaurant had high stars. Food looked pretty good I said let's try it. When we walked in it was pretty busy and the atmosphere was nice. Staff was friendly so it's living up to the expectations so far. Our server was fantastic and this is why it has two stars for me. Red flag number one was the mozzarella sticks for frozen not fresh. Thank you to the server for being honest. Red flag number two was the fact that the spaghetti and meatballs tasted like Chef Boyardee out of a can. Meatballs were horrible. The spaghetti sauce was terrible. Sorry we did order the garlic bread with cheese tasted like cheese and bread toasted. Not even a hint of garlic. You can go to Pizza Hut and get better cheese sticks. Overall, I would never recommend this place, nor would I ever come back. At least I can say I gave it a shot. Take this as you may, but don't say I didn't warn you. read more

However, service was 180 degrees from the attentive homelike feel of my last visit. Too bad. We really once considered Il Pescatore the standard for affordable Italian fare. Ten minute wait for a server. Three requests for bread which finally arrived after the appetizers by the owner. There goes my fork. Here's your entrees, thunk on the table like a football handoff. Found an ice tea refill by courtesy of the hostess. Only when time to figure the tip did the server return to life. Truly, the food is wonderful. Pasta al dente, egg plant tender, sardine appetizer tasty, garlic caper sauce magnificent once we finally received our toasted bread. I was pretty disappointed by the experience. We visited from out of town and were recommended to come here for dinner. It's a small mom and pop place, which I love. It was very busy and it is a family friendly establishment. My mom comes here a lot so she knew what she wanted, eggplant parm. I tried the spaghetti and meatballs, my hubby had the chicken parm. They loved their dishes. I liked the red sauce. It was light and plentiful. I did not care for the meatballs. They did not taste good and weren't seasoned and were mushy. Each entree brings a dinner salad and garlic bread. Prices were reasonable ( 15 for my plate and 20 for the Parma). The waiter was nice but a bit sassy and curt at times. All in all, I would recommend if you like little establishments and don't care about the dated but friendly atmosphere. read more

The meals came with salads, which were standard but good. I got the tortellini di stefano as it was highly recommended. It was delicious but I could only eat half. It was soooo filling. Four stars for great tasting food that you can taste the love in. I try to get something different each time I go so I can review more but this time I can't remember what I had but it was with tortellini which was very good. The restaurant is old and reminds me some what of the restaurant in the Goonies but in a good way it's old school which sets the vibe for the food. Service was good nothing to brag about but good. Date Night was a success. The night was beautiful, cool and crisp. While driving towards Mills Ave, IL Pescatore came up on my Yelp, the reviews were good, so we decided to give it a try. The parking lot was full, went around twice and ended up having to park across the street at the Total Wine. We waited about 5 mins to be seated. While we waited we perused the menu and everything just sounded sooo good. I knew from the reviews that the garlic bread and the calamari was good. We were seated, our server came right over, we ordered our water and app, calamari. Entrees, my husband asked about chicken francese, it is not on the menu but if you ask, they serve it. I asked if they make their carbonara with eggs & was disappointed that they don't, it is cream based but it does have prosciutto. Since I was torn between the chicken marsala and the carbonara, our server suggested that I can have the marsala & since it is served with a side of pasta and a salad or soup, the pasta can be the carbonara. Sold! The calamari was really good, needed a little salt or maybe a spicy kick, so I added a bit of salt and squirted some lemon, they were lightly breaded, big pieces served with a marinara sauce that I am sure is made in house. It tasted fresh, slightly sweet and delicious. The soup, Italian wedding soup, flavorful, loaded with tiny meatballs, kale, celery, peas and carrots, so comforting. Our entrees arrived with a big piece of wonderful, toasted garlic bread. Garlicky. Toasty on the outside and soft and flavorful on the inside. Tip: dip it a little in that sauce! My husband raved about his dish. The chicken was beautiful, perfectly golden, lightly fried atop a bed al dente linguini in a tangy, buttery lemon sauce. My chicken marsala, a bit bland, I added a sprinkle of salt. Other than that, the chicken pieces were a nice size, the sauce was plentiful and the mushrooms were sliced big and not over cooked. The cream based carbonara had very food flavor, nice pieces of prosciutto. I promise to return to try the stuffed eggplant dish! read more

We went late on a Saturday night and you can tell it's been the same workers for a while because they took the time to speak to the customers and the customers knew who they where.
