Where do I start? We had a birthday party for my daughter. Told this was a byob. The waiter chastised us for bringing some beer... moving on. There were 19 of us. Ordered appetizers for the table. $18 per appetizer, VERY small portions. My meal was ok, my wife had the filet mignon with crab. There was maybe 2 tablespoons of crab meat for $12 that was dry and tasteless. When we got to the cake, the waiter told us that there would be a $3 per slice "cutting fee". EXCUSE ME? $57 to cut a cake? Gouging at its worst. Our bill was in excess of $900 and you want to hit me for a $57 fee. When I asked to talk to the manager, I was told he was in a meeting. REALLY, at 8:45pm on a Monday night? Dreadful!! We will NEVER be back. Nor will I ever recommend this restaurant. Hope it was worth it. read more

Busy and vibrant restaurant. Waiter seemed knowledgeable and competent until he took the bread plates away after never bringing the bread. Apps and salads came out together which is something I have never seen in a restaurant. We then waited close to an hour for our entrees. My salmon was over cooked and the spinach that was an extra $5 was a tiny portion. I know this restaurant can do better. Maybe we caught them in a bad night. I would try again. read more

My favorite restaurant. Had been a fan of the restaurant for years. Brought my mom here for her birthday dinner and as usual villagio had again service from all wait staff. We had a very energetic server (older gentleman who was very enthusiastic in explaining everything) and was very hospitable. I ordered Branzino fish dish and my mom ordered the salmon dish (see pictures). We finished both dishes and we're mopping up the leftover sauce with the complimentary bread lol. It was that good. We really enjoyed ourselves. We skipped the dessert menu/coffee and total bill was for $65.04 (not including tip). Had a beautiful evening. Would do again. read more

We had a confirmed reservation for 7:00pm for a party of 4. They said that we needed to wait 10 minutes. After 20 minutes they said that we needed to wait 10 more minutes. Meanwhile, we see parties of 2 arriving after us getting seated ahead of us. I asked for the manager who referred me back to the hostess, who clearly lost control of the growing number of unseated reservations and her inaccurate estimates of waiting time We left and will not return. If a restaurant cannot manage their Open Table reservations, and other reservations, then one cannot expect them to manage the purchase, handling, preparing, cooking, and serving of food. Hugely disappointing,especially when you consider the 50-person party that we held there one year ago. read more

Wow!!! For a restaurant that attracts a lot of non-vegetarians, I was incredibly shocked to see a mini vegetarian menu. There were 6 pastas on that list and that personally is just enough of a selection. There were few vegetarian appetizer options as well. So anyways, I came here with my family for the first time this past Monday and we ordered Fried Zucchini for an appetizer - so good omg and 4 pastas: Penne Vodka, Homemade Gnocchi, Tagliatelle Funghi, and Cappelini Primavera. All of the dishes were phenomenal. The sauces were delicious, and my mouth is watering just thinking about it! And there's ALWAYS room for dessert no matter how stuffed you are, so we ordered a Homemade Chocolate Souffle w/ Vanilla Gelato and let me tell you - this dessert just melted in my mouth. WOW!! The new bar is just beautiful. Stopped in for a quick lunch today, and was greeted by the friendliest bartender, Lauren. She highly recommended the beet salad and I added chicken, it was so so good. There are happy hour prices between 3-6 that I will have to stop back for, and am looking forward to coming in to see the live bands as well. read more

Love, Love, Love this restaurant! The service is great plus my food is always delicious & fresh. The only thing I dislike is the parking lot. They can get pretty packed which makes parking difficult. My favorites are the mozzarella caprese, crab cakes, penne vodka, shrimp scallops bianco and all of their desserts lol. Sometimes I dine in or order takeout. It's a BYOB restaurant. They recently started selling bottles, instead of glasses of wine. Whatever you don't finish you can always take home, including the wine! read more

We were a group of 10, last week for dinner, and were told in advance that it would be no problem getting 5 separate checks. However, upon arrival, the owner/manager told us that is not their policy and we cannot get separate checks. We will get One check for the table, and you can split it however, you want. He was very rude, And basically told us take it or leave it. This is our policy, I have over 300 people here tonight, can't be bothered with this, There's the door, if you don't like it, you can leave! What he should have done, was said I'm sorry this is not our policy. I can see that all 10 of you are very upset, how about a round of drinks on the house, or how about dessert on the house? He did none of these, he was very abrupt, he was very rude, and walked away from us. We called a few restaurants while we were sitting there, and none of them could take us at a reasonable hour, so we decided to grin and bear it and stayed and ate our dinner. We were all extremely unhappy, and we vowed to never come back, and to tell and share the story with as many people as possible. A little kindness would have gone along way. read more

First let me mention this was SUPPOSED to be my birthday dinner, which they ruined. This place is getting WORSE. Last night attempted to eat here and once again the service is terrible. We had to flag down a server and after 12+ minutes of ordering a SALAD and appetizer, they still weren't on our table. Then the wrong appetizer came along with the SADDEST excuse for a caesar salad. No parm cheese, no croutons, just some wilted lettuce DRENCHED in dressing. We asked to speak to a "manager" who took his sweet time getting to us. While we were explaining that we didn't get the right appetizer the RUDE MANAGER said to my boyfriend "Don't you ever make mistakes?" WHAT?! Who says that? I also told him that there is never any wait staff around and asked him while we were talking where anyone else was that was working - there wasn't a single staff member to be seen and there were only about 4 other tables. He didn't have a smug answer for that. Every time they have a private party (which they did last night) the rest of the customers have to deal with ridiculously slow and crappy service. Needless to say, I am NEVER GOING THERE AGAIN. I keep giving them chances and each time it only gets worse. The manager is an absolute jerk and looked down at us like we were trash. read more

Il Villaggio is the restaurant that took over Nona's Tuscan Restaurant on Haddonfield Berlin Road. The restaurant itself is very beautiful from the inside and outside. We had a large party of 9. We were put in a nice size dining room and the noise level was pretty good. There was one other large party that was a bit noisy but that was fine. The service was great, extremely attentive and our food came out without delays. I had the shrimp and scallops bianco. The seafood tasted very fresh but I thought the dish lacked some seasoning. My wife's sausage dish was very flavorful. The rest of the party really enjoyed their dishes. We had coffee and dessert also. The homemade Pistachio ice cream was the standout. The prices were reasonable and the best part it is BYOB. They staff was helpful with our wine and beer. Better then A-OK but I am not quite Yay! I'm a fan yet but definitely a nice place with pretty good Italian food. read more

Came here right as restaurants were opening up for outdoor seating during the time of COVID. Solid Italian food in a great setting made for a nice meal. They've done a good job at social distancing. All the tablets we saw were a good bit apart from everyone and all the servers were wearing masks and gloves. Not an extensive menu but a good variety of stuff so it wasn't hard to decide. Had the burrata cheese and tomato as an appetizer. Nice fresh ingredients and enough for four people. The bread and roasted peppers in olive oil sauce were delicious. The bread was so incredibly soft. I had the chicken arosto. A hefty amount of food including a nice helping of crab on top. Veggies were delicious and the chicken was not dry at all. Everyone else enjoyed their meals too. BYO which is always a plus. Sitting outside as the sun set also was just a very nice experience. Oh what a nightmare. The brothers who manage this establishment are simply the most unprofessional "business men" I have ever met. Screaming at customers and encouraging other patrons to get involved further escalating an extremely uncomfortable situation. I truly don't think I've ever been to an establishment where a manager has had to be physically separated from a patron before. To say I felt unsafe is an understatement. From other reviews I've read it looks like we were not alone in our experience. The staff was incredible and I really hope they don't have to experience this type of toxic "management" on a regular basis. Mind boggling to me that a venue who claims to do multiple large parties monthly doesn't provide any type of contractual communication in regards to price, drinks, food, etc. They solely rely on open table notes, which you will not receive a copy of. If you are considering booking a party at this venue I would suggest you ask for a written break down of what you plan to spend for your event and what your expectations are. Went here with the intention of having dinner. Sat at the bar on a Tuesday night. Bartender was running around like a drill seargent. Interrupting and rushing customers. Snapping at servers. Complaining about everything. Saying there were no food runners, food was coming out cold. She would walk away and staff would complain about her. Couple next to us wanted dessert and then decided to just leave. Not the date night ambience we were seeking. Plenty of other places to spend $56 on a veal chop and feel service you would expect for that price. Get your stuff together or charge taproom prices for a taproom experience. Went to a party there last night. They did not have enough tables and chairs. Kept asking for more chairs. Staff was not concerned. Had to stand around eating appetizers ( which were good) but had to go ask for a few forks as we did not have a table , napkin, flatware etc. Main ebtrees were just ok. Salmon was good, chicken was tough. Main complaint: mixed drinks. We all paid cash for each and every drink. Found out this morning that they made the party host pay FOR EVERY SINGLE DRINK AFTER THE GUESTS HAD ALREADY PAID FOR THEM!! When the party host questioned this, the manager threatened to call the police on her. This is fraud in my opinion. I will NEVER spend another penny there. read more

Came here for a wedding rehearsal dinner. I didn't take pictures of everything, but the food wasn't up to par for a nice restaurant such as this. Maybe because they were feeding for a larger party? I will say that the appetizers consisting of calamari, cheeses, roasted peppers, and other bread and meat options were delightful. Salad was boring. Choice of Caesar or garden salad. Main course was upsetting. Got the lamb. Was pretty, but not flavorful. All very bland, from the meat to the veggies. My partner got the chicken dish which he also said was pretty boring and bland. The service was good for the most part. Servers were mostly attentive, but forgot to serve the family style dishes in certain areas of the tables which was awkward. Dessert was also eh. We went to Il Villagio on Mother's Day, and we didn't even end up eating there! The prices were very jacked up almost double for each dish than is stated on the online menu. I understand that the menu was smaller for Mother's Day, but what we didn't know until we sat down was that the menu was fixed as well. I am a vegetarian and basically every single dish on the Mother's Day menu had meat, and the chef said he wouldn't make them without meat except for one pasta dish (penne alla vodka). For such an expensive restaurant, it's not worth it to spend $30 on a single pasta dish, especially if they aren't flexible enough to accommodate to dietary restrictions. There were also way too many people inside, it did not seem safe as per covid protocols because it was so packed -- of course, that's just based on my judgement. we we're a party of 18 coming in on a Monday night for a birthday party. So to start the $18 appetizers were ridiculously small portions. We had bread baskets served with no butter and had repeatefly ask for butter. My meal was a filet. The worst and most horrifying experience at a restaurant that I've ever had. Upon our arrival, the manager/owner went back on a 3-week old reservation to sit on the patio. Upon discussing this with him later in the evening, he began screaming at us to "eat somewhere else!" and "get out!", this in front of my one year old and two year old girls who were crying hysterically and wondering why he was yelling at them. This ruined my sister-in-law's graduation celebration, which we were there to enjoy. I am still shaken and speechless as I write this. I have never been treated this way in general, let alone at a restaurant. The manager's demeanor was actually terrifying and he did this in front of the other restaurant guests. So disappointed, so hurt. A ruined evening that I will never forget. read more

This is a great place to go out for some awesome Italian food. My family went here for a celebration dinner, and the food was delicious. I got the Linguine Frutti Di Mare, and it was really great. The gnocchi pomodoro is also fabulous, and you can really tell the pasta is homemade. You can ask to get the calamari fried and not grilled (not on the menu), and there is also a wine list where you can get a bottle (although it's BYOB as well). I would definitely go here for a nice dinner! read more

Excellent restaurant in Cherry Hill. On January 5,2019 we celebrated the holidays with a dinner at Il Villaggio. BYOB. We were a party of 8 and i can not believe the beautiful room , the Service , and most importantly the food that was amazing! I had the pappardelle pasta special and the Oysters Casino appetizer.. delicious!! The beautiful spacious room was filled with other large parties but that did not stop the speedy service and the hot food that came out on time! Kudos to the owners and the entire staff at Il villaggio because their service made the night so special. One last thing.. they valet your car for free!! Get the homemade Creme brûlée !!! read more

Generally a nice Italian place. The host must have been helping with service as we waited a little more than 5 minutes to be seated. We had the caprese which was standard fare. The crab cake appetizer was good, better than most. The fra diavolo was not spicy at all. The red sauce lacked pizzazz. My hubby had the gnocchi with porcini cream sauce which was good. We prefer gnocchi to be pan seared so that was a miss for us. He also ordered scallops which were excellently prepared. I had their homemade tiramisu which was good. read more

I've been thinking about exactly how to write this review (or even to if I should write it at all) for weeks. TLDR: odd ambiance, bland food, do not recommend After a weekend at the shore, we were driving back to the Trenton train station so I could get back into the city and wanted to stop for dinner before that. Neither of us were familiar with the restaurants in the area but he reviews seemed pretty good and their menu/website looked lovely. As we arrived, this place pops up out of the strip malls and bland NJ scenery. First of all, there's only one way into the parking lot, and it's not super obvious, so we tried turning into the strip mall's parking lot next to it (which is not accessible, we had to go back out on to the main road). When we walked in, it was clear this was mainly used an an event space, it looked grand and not like the rest of the area. The guy at the front was talking with an older woman who seemed to be a customer, or just hanging out there. Anyway he brought us to our table and asked if he could get us a drink. We were a little confused because usually the host is not also the waiter, but in this case, that's exactly what happened. He was one of the most interesting people either of us have ever come across. It was almost like he was playing the character of a fancy waiter instead of actually being one? Think: your very best (and serious) impersonation of a downton abby butler, but still off. I honestly could not understand what he was trying to do, but it was confusing. They brought us our sparkling water in an ice bucket to keep it chilled, and it was so unclear if we were supposed to pour it ourselves our not. The ice bucket was messy-ish (being that as the ice melted it turned to water), but also we wanted our glasses refilled far more often than someone was around to do it, so we just awkwardly managed. The decor was upscale and formal (like you'd expect out of an event space) it was actually really nice and well put together. The waiters were dressed well, but the diners (ourselves included) were in jeans and very casual, an interesting dichotomy. The restaurant was also VERY quiet. I'm can't remember if there as music playing, but if there was it was just a light background melody. This made it awkward, there were at least 4 other tables but it was so quiet it felt like you had to whisper. The menu was big, but was also structured like an authentic Italian menu with pastas separate from meat dishes. We started off with the Arugula and Fragole salads. They were absolutely drenched in dressing, could have done with half and it would have been fine. Neither the arugula or the spring mix was stiff enough to stand up to the way it was dressed. For my main dish I got The Veal Mare Monte, and I should have picked something else. Maybe I'm judging a bit harshly because the veal I had in Rome was exquisite, but this dish had no flavor. It came with crabmeat and roasted red peppers and spinach but it was just so bland. The spinach had to most flavor, the spinach!! I love veal so this was really disappointing. It also came with approximately 3 small roasted potatoes that seemed to have no seasoning. My mother got the Chicken Capri which she said was similarly tasteless. I've been to other Italian restaurants outside of Italy and have had wonderful experiences (Positano in Brooklyn for instance), so it's not just that I'm a snob. The food was subpar at at best. This was compounded by the fact that in addition to our character-waiter, at least 3 other people came over to ask how we were enjoying the food. And what can you really say? It wasn't complaint worthy, per se. We're not people to make a scene. There was nothing wrong it just wasn't good food. Everyone had done their jobs and we weren't trying to get out of paying so we just had to keep nodding that everything was fine. This is partially why I was hesitant to write a review at all, I suppose we could have spoken up, but to what end? We felt awkward enough just being in the restaurant. In the end, we turned down desert/coffee twice and finally got the check. We paid and tipped 20%. Upon visiting the bathroom before heading out, there was one large stately chair in the bathroom. Set like it was surveying the area, the arm hit the door when we opened it. So very odd. Coming here felt like we'd stepped into an adjacent universe, and not in a good way. Everything was just a bit off and awkward. Part of me wonders if even happened at all. I can't say I'll be back. This new Cherry Hill Italian BYOB was Nonna's, until it closed after serving dinner on New Year's Eve 2012. It's basically the same place, although they removed the partition in the dining room, so it's a little more open (and nicer) with the minor renovations. The changes are much like the ones made at Amici, which replaced Christopher's on Kresson Road, and both restaurant's have been improved with the renovations. The food was excellent, and the service was equally excellent. We had two appetizers (broiled calamari and beet salad), two entrees (pistachio encrusted salmon and a grilled sea bass special), and a dessert (homemade tiremisu), as well as an espresso macchiato, and they were all terrific. The prices are reasonable, much less than at Il Villaggio's predecessor (Nonna's), and the service has definitely been upgraded (attentive, but never annoying). Il Villaggio doesn't have a web site (not yet), and we wouldn't have known that there was a new restaurant in this location, except we drove by one night recently, and saw their new sign. The dining room lighting is more subdued than it was as Nonna's, the fireplace had a roaring fire going, the music was pleasant, and it was altogether a wonderful Friday evening dinner, to cap off the work week. We think this new Cherry Hill restaurant will do very well, and will definitely be back soon. read more

We were a party of 8. We all had frequented IL Villaggio in the past. Food has always been wonderful. From presentation to taste. Our experience last evening was surprising the worst dining experience in quite sometime. Server was overwhelmed with the number of tables he was assigned. Service was very slow and not accurate to what was ordered. There seemed to much confusion. Three of the eight guests did NOT enjoy there meal. Food delivery was not in order. The most difficult part of the meal was when our meatballs were cut open to find raw ground meat. Lastly, I made the reservation by phone. I called to confirm three days before hand. I received 2 texts from the restaurant to confirm my reservation AND I received a call yesterday to confirm we were still a party of 8. Not once in all the communication was I told the menu has changed and they now have a liquor license. The website has not been update to inform the customer. read more
