I am writing this review so perhaps this establishment could be saved. Walking by it seems like an authentic Italian restaurant you want to come in with a date or family. The staff seem to be very friendly and attentive but the food itself needs a serious overhaul. They don't have a drink menu to offer and I was a bit surprised they didn't offer our table a wine menu. My date had ordered a lemon drop martini which tasted more like an lemon fizz soda with zero kick. The bread service was pretty basic but the real disappointment was asking for oil and they just gave me the retail bottle to poor myself. We decided just to order our main course and skip the appetizer section and everyone was disappointed in the food. The highlighted photos on their site doesn't reflect the menu. I had ordered the fried chicken on top of balsamic and tomatoes and it was soaked in balsamic which would have over powered the flavor of the fried chicken but it did not because the chicken was flat and lacked seasoning in the chicken and breading. That goes for the fettuccini Alfredo as well. I felt so bad for my daughter, reading her facial expression as she politely twirled her food around in her plate. The sauce could have used a lot more attention to bring the dish out. The trend is the same for the entire experience with the other dishes. We most definitely won't be going back but hopefully the owner reads this and makes a lot of changes in the kitchen and bar to thrive in the future. Right now this spot is a hard pass. read more

It's our 1st visit to il Villaggio Pizza & Pasta & we will definitely be back. We were a little late due to traffic & parking but the restaurant reserved our table. Beautiful restaurant with great service & food. The waiter John was awesome. They have a Great wine selection. We started with Appetizers which were delicious tomato & mozzarella and Caesar Salad. For dinner we had Veal Piccata which was extremely tender. Flounder would of been better with more a little more of the butter or lemon. It was a little dry but very taste. Penne Romano Chicken, spinach, sun dried tomato and fresh tomato in a pink sauce Chicken, spinach, sun dried tomato and fresh tomato in a pink sauce was delicious. Veal Sorrentino Fresh mozzarella and eggplant topped with a sherry demi sauce was also a hit. Chocolate Lava & ice cream was absolutely delicious. Almond Cake was another big hit. I've been to this restaurant many times. Bread came out warm and wonderful. To start we had the mussels in the white sauce, one of our favorites. I had the crab stuffed shrimp, which was great. My husband had a steak and pasta special which he loved. We will be back! read more

First off I need to say my wife and I have been here a good number of times. We have NEVER had an adverse experience. The food and service are always spot on. Last night we went for New Year's Eve dinner. They had one sitting and it was at 6:00. Very thoughtful for the employees as well as the patrons. We were not rushed, and as is common here, the food was excellent and the service was wonderful. Cudos to This establishment, a wonderful experience. Met friends here for dinner. It was not crowded when we arrived. The waiter messes up our friends drinks twice, and then didn't come crack for a long time to correct it. We ordered veal parm, pasta with mushrooms, codfish pomodoro, and linguini with calamari, as well as appetizers. All very basic. The food was bland to good. Saturday night dining experience in late July 2018. Were seated on time but told they couldn't accommodate separate checks for the two couples . Really; what planet are they on? New waitress was a dud (remember her from The Argyle across the street. No customer service acumen; very rude Shrimp appetizer was awesome; 5 stars. House Merlot was great as well and worth the price. The entree, Cod fish, was dismal. Hard, chewy, almost as if it had been frozen...? The pasta turned into a solid bowl of stuck together angel hair. Never had this elsewhere or at home. The guy handling desert service was very nice and the berry marscapone cake was very very good. Almost salvaged the entire experience. Almost. Overall, these folks think a lot more of themselves than they deserve. They aren't so bad that you shouldn't go so check it out and see if your experience is different than ours. read more

This restaurant is second to none. The food is the most delicious food you will ever taste. For all of their dishes that contain shrimp, the shrimp are colossal and not skimpy at all. Their sauce is tasty and not bitter or full of acid. The portion sizes are more than enough but not so large that you are overwhelmed by the amount of food on your plate. The Caesar salad is one of the best that i have ever had and it is a generous plate of salad. The waitresses and owners are so very pleasant and the service is wonderful. It is a nice cozy restaurant and you feel at home here. I have never been disappointed with any dish that I have ordered and i do go there quite often. The name is actually Cafe Il Villagio Restaurant. My boyfriend and I decided to go to Babylon Village on a nice Saturday evening two weeks ago since the weather was beautiful. While walking around and trying to get into the usual places we have tried before, but they were packed and way too loud. We saw this restaurant and decided to give it a try! So glad we did! The atmosphere was perfect along with the food. The server was very nice and attentive. This is a family run restaurant that really cares about their guests. After a previous bad experience with this restaurant, website falsely advertised a special that was no longer current and the owner denied responsibility for the content of their website, I reluctantly returned to give it another try. AGAIN FALSE ADVERTISING ON THEIR WEBSITE. Website falsely advertised a Tuesday night Pasta Special for $16.00. When I arrived I was handed a menu that said $19. When I questioned the waitress she became confrontational and said it had been that way for a long time and a disclaimer on the website covered the error. Service was terrible and staff non-attentive. I will never again go back to this restaurant. I'm contacting the Better Business Bureau to place a complaint. read more

I don't like to make a bad review especially for small businesses. I would originally give this place 3 stars but that isn't fair based off of me visiting them one time. Starters- their food is great. At least my dish was. My friend's dish was ehh. Just didn't taste right. We didn't complain because we needed to get going but it was with a pesto sauce that just didn't taste right. For my dish I swapped from penne to fresh pasta (gnocchi). I wasn't told there would be an upcharge ($9.99). I am more than fine with upcharging since it was swapped to fresh pasta. But at least tell me! Every restaurant I've been to always has done so to make sure there won't be a complaint. And well $10 seems a little steep. Almost felt like I was paying for the penne and the gnocchi. It's like the pasta itself then cost $20. This just doesn't make sense for me. Secondly, I assume the wait staff was pooling because I had three different people come to my table. This is fine but it was kind of annoying when they went back to back asking the same questions. I know they are just being attentive but still. Also the waitress that actually was our server was rude. She acted like I should know a dish just by the name. It was a soup that she said very quickly and not a standard dish. When I asked her to elaborate on what it was she was condescending in her response- almost like duh it's a type of bean soup. Welp, sorry for asking. Which her description was just that. It's a type of bean soup. No explanation further. The friend I was with had worked in a kitchen a while back and explained it to me once she left. I'm not asking for you to be super peppy and friendly. She could have just had a bad night. But it sucks when they are pooling because the other waiters were so nice that it felt bad knowing that her attitude probably cost them tips from other customers. (BTW I still tipped very well even though I felt like I shouldn't be doing so. I've worked in the service industry. It sucks getting gypped.) Friday afternoon in Babylon walking with my mother in law, she couldn't walk anymore so we ended up in this restaurant. I checked in on Yelp looking for reviews and did not find any. I thought it was quite strange because looking at the restaurant, its been here for a while. The first salad I ordered was not available I have no idea maybe they had no oranges so I picked the arugula pear salad it was presented beautifully and it was very tasty. My mother in law ordered baked clams and Napoleon vegetable appetizer. Again everything was very tasty and beautifully presented. For beverages we ordered coffee I asked for a second cup and it was brought and when my mother in law asked for a refill on hers it was explained that they don't do refills of coffee for free there would be another charge so she declined. Firstly, who does not offer refills on coffee! Secondly, why didn't they tell me that. I don't understand and because of the stupid policy we will never be back! There are plenty of other restaurants on the street to dine. I guess that's why they were empty at lunchtime and all the other restaurants were filled to capacity.
