If you're familiar with downtown Los Angeles, you'll understand when I say that street parking around ILCAFFE is a challenge. There are plenty private and paid parking lots in the vicinity, though. I'm grateful that they open early. They have plenty of indoor seating. They have a great looking selection of pastries in a glass case. There is a large projector screen where they show videos. I was expecting a bracingly bitter taste when I first took a sip of my CORTADO, but I was surprised by how smooth and creamy it was. The cashier was patient. The barista is great.

The tuna sandwich was pretty solid taste-wise. For $17, I was kind of hoping for a bit more tuna but not the worst given how expensive everything is nowadays. There's a $12/day parking garage around the corner so if you're looking to work from here, also not bad given DTLA prices. It's kind of small so be wary if you have a large car. Service was pretty quick, seems like the staff is constantly working on something.

Great matcha! I love that they use unsweetened traditional Matcha powder, and they even use a homemade syrup just out of honey and hot water. One of the only cafés in downtown where you can actually get a Matcha that is naturally sweetened with honey. It comes in a 16 ounce cup so if you really like the taste of a deeper flavor of Matcha, just ask them to put less milk and only fill the cup up halfway or add an extra shot of Matcha.

I got a cold brew and it was really good compared to other locations. The Capicola and Fig sandwich was really good and a lot better than expected. The sandwiches are a bit pricey but they taste better than some sandwiches places in LA. There's a lot of seating areas inside and outside. The staff was really nice and fast when making your order.

Really nice cafe! Got the caprese sandwich and it was so delicious. The bread was perfectly crusty and crispy. Also ordered an iced latte and a matcha both were very good. Staff is friendly too.

My husband and I wandered into this charming cafe in DTLA before heading across the street to the Orpheum for some music . Dorian was an attentive and personable host; asking about the show we were heading to, and she made me perhaps the best handmade mocha I have ever had in my life! While I was delighted with my coffee beverage my husband was equally delighted with his Peroni beer. We had eaten beforehand otherwise we would have tried the food. The pot pies looked AMAZING! There will most definitely be a next time If you're in the area put this spot on your list

I absolutely love the touch this café brings to everystreet corner it populates. The selections of wine and pastries are absolutely wonderful for my apartment to sit outside on the street and enjoy the shade in the afternoon. I had a double shot with heavy whipping cream steamed to give that thick rich flavor they threw a sugar in the row over the top the flavor of the coffee and wonderful bowl to it and the aftertaste was wonderful. This is definitely the perfect place to come in and start , or finish your day with the glass of wine and a lovely pastry whatever it is you'll find yourself, relaxed and satisfied

I had an avocado turkey Sandwich it was very delicious. And a mocha I asked for hot it was warm. Taste was good just could have been hotter. Service was okay could have been better they were busy so not very friendly or welcoming. Ambiance is nice they had lots of inside and outdoor sitting.

Location is a bit catchy, the street is sometimes stinking. Once you get in, the vibe is pretty comfy with coffee and danish smells. I love the apple danish, it's not only pleasant looking and the taste is awesome with the right sweetness. Their coffee is awesome too. Will comeback soon to try other items on the menu.

Just stopped by the this cafe before I went to an event across the street. I didn't know what to get so I ordered a lemonade which was $4. It reminded of Squirl rhubarb lemonade but that was $3.50. It has more of a tangy but hint of sweet but would I order again??? I don't know because you can't really mess up on a lemonade. The reason why I rated four stars is the atmosphere outside is a bit lively while inside gives off a beautiful aesthetic inside. read more

apart from their coffee tasting like literal trash, the service sucks. like literally. rudest establishment i've ever been to. ordered coffee for me and my boss and the worker started making it, and then i asked the worker next to her if i could order another one since our client was coming in, and the worker responded with "idk im not the one attending you" and walked away like???? girl??? with all the attitude in the world. your coffee is not all that to be acting that way. read more

This was my second time coming here. Maybe my last. The place was empty but looked disgusting. Ordered a fresh grapefruit juice. Cost $5.45. Not even chilled. Didn't come in a regular size glass. Had to ask for a cup of ice and poured the juice into the cup of ice myself. Get it together folks. The barrista, also has a penchant for swearing to himself. ilcaffe's hands down one of the best coffee shops in Los Angeles and serves up one of the best neighborly atmospheres inside and out. The coffees excellent and their desserts and sandwiches are also amazing for an early morning or mid day snack. During the week and on weekends, they have a rotating group of food trucks which is always a nice touch for having an alternative food option. They also carry an assortment of beer and wine which can be enjoyed there or taken to go. Also the staff and owner are beyond friendly, accommodating and attentive. ilcaffe knows what they are doing and they do it right! Highly recommended anyone to stop if you're in DTLA. read more

Happy this cafe opened next to where I work. Also happy that I have another coffee and lunch option because everything else was getting so tiring around here. The interior is nice modern and loft like. The latte was great and they have Stumptown coffee. In the morning they have pastries and different croissants. They also have an array of artisan sandwiches with cured meats. The whole vibe was very European and reminded me of when I lived abroad. I wish I could be one of the people that lounge and work there :) read more

I was walking by on a Sunday and noticed this cafe had outdoor seating. Everyone waiting inside was wearing a mask and social distancing so I decided to give it a try. I ordered a sweetened oatly latte and an avocado toast as recommended by the barista. Everything was delicious and the customer service was great. This Swedish import is a great spot for just hanging out and having your favorite coffee drink. Ordered a Cortado (not on their menu but were kind enough to make it) and a Prosciutto Mozzarella Panini. The cortado was great, good flavor and with the right balance of espresso and steamed milk and the panini was really tasty. Love the ambience too, it's just like a taste of Scandinavia in sunny DTLA. read more

Go here! Loved the Swedish coffee shop vibe. Found out it's the 1st in USA, already well known in Stockholm. Had espresso and it was well made, served correctly (sad that one has to say that, but American shops tend to make poor espresso)...It has cool, graphic artsy look inside w/ polished cement floor, gallery art on the few walls. Good large corner windows on two sides, and opens to a clothing line space(men & women's) named Acne Studios. Overall, a sleek setting. Casual · Locals · Good for kids *grandparents. read more

Super burnt coffee beans means super burnt and bitter coffee. Had an oat milk Cortado and it was pretty bad. The ratio was good, but the coffee itself was terrible and super bitter. I never put sugar in my coffee but was tempted to just so I could choke it down. read more

I stopped in at il caffe this morning because I was nearby and I am sure glad I did! To start off, they are pet friendly! They have a dog water bowl outside in their patio area and people walked in with leashed dogs. This place is lovely and clean, making it super inviting on a warm morning. The quaint little tables with tiny succulent pots made it feel just right to enjoy a drink on your own. Although it was warm outside, I was able to enjoy my hot coffee in the comfort of their air conditioned space. I tried their latte and a chocolate croissant (that was warmed up for me). The croissant was decadent, but the latte was missing some oomph that I normally enjoy in my lattes. The staff was friendly, but being a first-timer, I felt somewhat awkward not paying for my items first. Also, I did not see a trash can or an obvious way to feel "done" with my meal. With no specific place to leave my dishes and used napkins, I awkwardly set them back on the order counter as I did not feel comfortable leaving them dirty on a table. I am sure it was just me and if I visit regularly, I will get used to it. read more

The Paninis are really good! I always worry that the bread in these sandwiches will be too hard but I think b/c it was so fresh that it was just perfectly crunchy and you can actually bite through. And the salami and arugula and cheese... also fresh! And the cappuccino and latte were spot on. Great places to sit outside, European/Italian style! read more

Great spot, love the layout of their interior when you come in! Lots of room if you come in a group. Coffee is reeeally good, I got a cappuccino and it was perfect. They have everything you need at a coffee shop. Sandwiches, snacks, water options, juices. Cool little quaint place. It's not the food that makes this place cool. It's the people working behind the counter. The guy with the long hair and beard is cool AF! Everything is fresh. And food is served to you as you sit. They just need to work on the flying insect problem. Flies and other flying things around the food. I definitely didn't like that. read more

Came for lunch with a colleague. Comes across as a family owned joint. They have pretty cool art hanging up throughout the cafe. The back wall is all mirrors so that adds a nice touch to the place. The barista was welcoming and friendly. There were a lot of people ordering to go but they do have some small tables if you want to dine in. Service was really quick. They have a huge variety of teas and coffee. Several paninis and salads to choose from for lunch or a small dinner. I ordered the prosciutto mozzarella and arugula panini. It was tasty but the bread was thicker than what I was expecting. WiFi password is located on the menu board. read more

I love Il Caffe. I relocated from San Francisco 2 years ago and for any LA neophyte, it can be a precarious place to navigate. However, Il Caffe responsively gave me the gift of an instant community from the get-go. You can literally sit here and within an hour meet a dozen colorful DTLA residents ranging from architects, painters, record company executives, mom and pop business owners, fashion designers, retirees, young parents, babies, dogs, international visitors and the list goes on. There is so much history, rawness, and life in this space. The owner, Michael, has created an extension of home and truly goes out of his way, enjoyably, to greet and get to know every person that walks through his door. I always have fun here: love the coffee & food, love people watching, love the staff, love the location. This is a second home for me and a hub for the revitalized and now thriving DTLA. The vibe is hip, chic, progressive, homey, cozy, friendly, seapunk, normcore, high fashion, dad bod, Scandinavian sensible, anything you want it to be. It's cool man. Cold brew vanilla: Delicious, I love that tou can see the vanilla cream on top. This was definitely what I needed to wake me up. 2. Matcha einspener: I tasted this and immediately loved it when leaving the store. I saved it for last. It was so light and refreshing. I could easily drink it all day if they had a bigger size lol. I was hoping to try the seasonal mango cream matcha, but sadly it was gone. 3. Pastries: I wanted to try the sampler but I don't thinking they had it yet. I tried one of the cinnamon pastries. It was soft and very cinnamony. Overall, it was a great experience and I'll be back soon.

He was an absolute delight to meet, and he brought my matcha latte to me at the table when it was prepared. He suggested I get the cream top on it, and boy was that the perfect recommendation. I would say I'm a little bit of a matcha fiend... I think I got a matcha latte at 3 different places this day... and this one far surpassed the others. I think it was one of the best matcha lattes I have ever drank to-date. It was perfectly green, the matcha quality was phenomenal, both taste and look-wise. The texture was just right, perfectly creamy with barely any grittiness. The cream top only added to the drink, and didn't take away from the matcha flavor at all, which I feel like has happened at other places for me. I'm dreaming of this matcha latte days later, and need to go back to Kokoro No Coffee as soon as I am in town again. This was a spectacular find, and I hope this spot gets all the love it deserves! I've been coming to this fine establishment for well over three years now, I've been looking for anything else in Los Angeles to replicate the magic that this place has but I have yet to find it. Very old school European charm, as you can watch the people gather along the sidewalk which is by far one of the most thrilling experiences I've ever had in my life. Consistent well made coffee taste and texture both incredible. Since I've been coming in on Monday afternoons and Saturday mostly, I am impressed but not surprised at the baristas remember my order and my name, Always for me one of the most pleasant things you can experience at a coffee shop, the camaraderie. Sometimes I'll even get a nice little compliment about my hat which I enjoy, but I never know other people do, so it's nice to hear it out loud. And don't get me started on the paninis. They've got it down. BRAVO!!!! read more

This is a great spot and an easy walk from South Park where I live. Located at the corner of Broadway and 9th under the Eastern Building, you will find some great people watching here. They have outdoor seating near the street and window. Plenty of seating inside. And most importantly, great coffee. Tried the daily brew first time in then went the latte route after that. Both worthy of recommending. Staff is friendly and attentive and makes you feel like you want to support them as a regular. read more
