Illiano's is a little hole in the wall, Italian, family restaurant in Ocean Township, NJ. My friends wanted to take me to one of their favorite local places and the food was divine. The atmosphere is very casual. We ordered up a storm and ate like royalty! We started with a big mixed salad with provolone and shared a large plate of broccoli rabe in garlic and oil. Delicioso!! I had shrimp parmagianio over linguine, my one friend had sausage, onions and peppers over linguine and my other friend had chicken saltimbocca. Great service! Christine works very hard. Extensive menu with real Italian choices. Casual. BYOB. Sole Marachiara was amazing! It included a few clams and, my choice, fillet of sole. Perfection! Illianos graciously offered an opportunity for a Dine to Donate fundraiser for my church's women's mission group. We had the most delicious food and great service! Generous portions that provided leftovers for the next day! I can highly recommend the individual Sicilian pizza, Chicken Murphy, Bbq chicken pizza, eggplant sub, baked ravioli and salads. Iliano's is a nice place to enjoy authentic Italian food. Whenever our family visits the Jersey Shore area and want great Italian food this is where we go. Everyone that works here are absolutely wonderful, and very friendly. The waitress is very kind, and despite it being a pandemic, she made our experience a true delight. She shared really cool places to check out that we never heard of. It was a beautiful evening to dine outside. The area that was setup was cozy, and quaint. Everything was extremely clean as we ate our dinner the server was constantly cleaning, and disinfecting everything. No crowds, plenty of space to enjoy a lovely meal, and appreciate the atmosphere. We could not ask for a better experience here. We have dined here for many years, and the food is consistent, and fresh. The manicotti, stuffed shells, and pizza are all great. We order from here for our company meetings and everyone loves their food. The arugula pizza is so delicious and always is gone before all the other pizzas. I ordered the garlic knots and they were the 2nd best I've had in the state. If you reheat them for 10 seconds in the microwave they come alive and fill with oil. Never again, so disappointed! My wife and I go to the Shore every year around this time and last year we ordered pizza from Illiano's and it was pretty good. Must be new management or something. This year we ordered some food to be delivered late at night. Seemed like no problem, but the food never arrived, we were charged a boat load for the food. I will never come back. Was dissatisfied with the meal I ordered to pick up, when I noticed it was not the correct order, I ordered chicken marsala, I called back to see what could be done. The phone call was a disaster, I could hear the staff Yelling and fighting about my phone call. I decided to go back and try and get a refund. The man was so irate at my dissatisfaction with" HIS recipe he's been making for over 45 years!" He yelled at me in the restaurant, belittling me asking if I've ever heard of a menu, taking such offense to me, he whined," how would you like if I did this to you at your job?" I live in the area but I haven't been in Iliano's in two years. It appears to be the same owner. This place usually seems pretty busy during the week. According to the server/his wife, it gets quite hectic during the day, so they emphasize waitress service due to the limited space in the building. Being a beautiful day, I opted to dine alfresco. I ordered a chicken panini sand w/mozzarella and red peppers on a balsamic vinegared roll. Excellent. I also got a slice of Margherita pie( very skimpy on the cheese & basil ), not indicative for $2.5. Hey, when I can eat a slice in 4 bites, IT'S SMALL. Caveat: one cannot bring their own drinks. We placed an order and the food wasn't what we expected. In an effort to get an understanding we called. First the order taker hung up. On the third call, they put the chef on the phone. He immediately started arguing and wouldn't even hear my husband out. He started saying I have been a chef for 60 years and you people try to tell me how to cook. We have been enjoying Illiano's food since 1991. We moved further away but a family member is local and we ordered some takeout. Illiano's STILL has the best white pizza with broccoli. When we moved away we searched for something that was even close. We also ordered an eggplant parm and a linguine with alfredo and broccoli. The continue to make the most amazing dishes. One issue - the family member no longer drives and this yummy food is not available through Door Dash or GrubHub. Hoping that with time there are other options to have it delivered. read more

This is going to be a long one. If you want a brief summary - bad food, bad service, bad place. Stay away! I have to say, this is THE worst place I have ever been to. We were the only people there on a Saturday noon, the place looked horrible and the restrooms were smelly. We sat outside and ordered 2 "speciality" dishes for me and my husband, and one dish for my daughter. I cannot even begin to describe how bad the food tasted and of course, the fact it took them 30 minutes to serve us that horrible food! Each dish cost about $17, and honestly, I have no idea how the priced this, since the dishes were very poor. The main problem was that the food really tasted bad and wasn't fresh at all. We took one bite and asked for the check. They didn't care why we asked for the check so soon and it took them 10 minutes to charge us. We left and swore to never come back again. While always take-out and never experienced eat-in, the food is always fresh, well made and reasonably priced. Both the eggplant and veal are fresh and not frozen. Typically, we order pizza, eggplant and veal subs. Unlike many other take-out restaurants, they go the extra mile by providing a box to put the order in to keep your vehicle seats clean. We order at least four times a month. The menus is extensive and well written. read more

Review based on a take away order from 3 days ago. In the area on business, snow starting, and I had a goal of picking up lunch and dinner so that I didn't have to leave the hotel again. Frankly I was on my way to Jersey Mike's because that was easy, but I drove past Illiano's, turned around. There were a few cars in the parking lot at 11:30 AM or so; a good sign. I went inside to check out the menu. Quite extensive. Why would I not order an Italian-style sub? I ordered a 12" ham, provolone, capicola, and salami, with everything, thinking that would be an easy lunch and dinner. Then I noticed the soups. I asked if those were homemade; 'why yes, the soups are homemade'. I ordered a escarole and bean soup for dinner and reallocating 1/2 of the sub for lunch the next day. Food was prepared quickly (10 minutes). During my wait, I had a short conversation with a diner that was clearly regular since the only question to him was 'the usual?'. The food was packaged well. The sub was wrapped so that the oil and vinegar did not leak. The soup was placed in a plastic container with a tight lid and placed in a bag with a cardboard bottom to keep it from falling on its side in the car. The sub was delicious and would likely feed 4! I did eat 1/2 and saved the other 1/2 for Thursday's lunch. The soup reheated nicely at dinner time and included a piece of fresh Italian bread. read more

I ordered a 2 pizzas at 8pm and they told me 25 minutes. I arrived at the place at 8:30 and they didn't know what I ordered. I watched them make my pizza and put it in the oven as I waited and when I questioned them about it asking how long it was going to be they gave me an attitude. Terrible customer service. Don't say 25 minutes when you're running behind and don't give your paying customers who are now waiting in your store for 20 minutes an attitude. Then my pizzas were not even cooked at all.
