This location continues to exceed my expectations. They have multiple lanes where cars queue up. I went at an odd time - 10 AM on a weekday so it wasn't very crowded. There were four lanes open and each had three to four cars waiting. I got into the shortest line - three cars and as soon as I pulled up, the first car left. I probably waited five minutes before I was in line to be tested. The test has gotten shorter over the years, probably due to improved technology. You still have to get out of the car so they can complete the test and it was mighty cold out that day. They have an enclosed room where you can wait, but I was not offered the chance to go inside. I imagine it's because the test is so fast now. The car passed inspection. The person who did the test thanked me for coming by - she was very pleasant. This location also has a place where you can renew your plates. My plates are still up to date so I didn't have to go inside but I have used them before and was pleased with their service. read more

Wow, that was fast! went at 5:25 pm on a Friday there were 3 bays working, each with one car. As soon as we pulled up the lane in front of us cleared. The test took about two minutes. My 16 year old Versa passed! I was surprised, I hadn't driven it in months and had to jump it, to start it 15 minutes before. I don't understand why a car built in 2021 still needs an air emissions inspection but unless you pass,you can't renew your Vehicle Registration. I went on a Tuesday morning and there was no wait. The technician was very nice and it took about 3 minutes. FYI, the small waiting rooms are not in use so dress accordingly as you do wait outside while the test is performed. You can purchase your Vehicle Registration sticker after you pass the test but there is a $9.50 service fee. Hopefully with more fuel efficient cars and electric vehicles,testing will no longer be required. read more

I came in a particular day to renew my vehicle sticker, and there was a heavier set gentleman working at one of the computer stations when a client was asking him a few questions because her car had failed her admissions. He was unbelievably rude to her. I managed to speak to her outside and she was going through some things she said her mom had just passed and this gentleman made an already hard day for her worse . It's unbelievable how people are able to work with these horrible attitudes when they're supposed to be there to assist customers. Shame on you ! If you hate your job quit !!! read more

SMALL CARBON FOOTPRINT Much like voting or taking out the recycling, getting your car emission tested is just a thing we do. I've been to the smog check station in Addison, but I honestly couldn't tell you the difference between the two. The Illinois Air Team also has locations in Naperville, Skokie, Bedford Park, a few near Joliet and elsewhere. There are 16 places to choose from in the Chicago 'burbs, so "I can't find one near me" is a lousy excuse for not performing this routine check-up. You can purchase a license plate sticker here with a debit/credit card but I chose not to, since I'm still a few months away. Don't be like (the old, irresponsible) me and tempt the fates by letting your sticker languish! They'll send a reminder in the mail a few months before it expires, which gives Illinois motorists a full season to find a site near them. The inspection itself only takes 90 seconds or so: they check the mileage and run some diagnostic tests while you chill outside your car--the little waiting booths are closed due to covid. Guy was nice, fast and pretty friendly. He gave me a printout (does anyone honestly keep these?), which I later turned into a paper airplane. * TL;DR * Biennial emissions testing has to happen before you can renew your sticker.....unless you'd rather live dangerously, skirting the plate renewal process and daring Johnny Law to pull up behind you to see if they notice your bright orange sticker that still says 'OCT19'. Normally this is quick enough a task to complete on your lunch break, but be careful trying to squeeze in a trip if you're on a tight time window. Waits increase towards the end of the month, even moreso in the late afternoon as people get out of work. They're open M-F from 8am until 6pm, closed on Sundays and holidays. I come in ready and was rejected due to o2 sensors and evaporation system not showing up on their system. They told me to come back after 7 days of driving. I drive for 7 days everywhere and got rejected again and then told me to visit a mechanic. I visit a mechanic for a diagnostic and nothing was wrong, afterwards I come back and they told it still didn't get accepted after everything. Told me again to drive after 7 days and the manager was rude and kept putting words in my mouth without hearing me out. Maybe its the system they use that doesn't work very good on checking cars. Don't go here if you have a 2020 or newer my 2020 Honda Civic sport hatchback failed. It will fail because their system is so old and they will make it your issue. The manager and the kid that was working the middle row had no clue what they were doing and proceeded to cuss me out and make it my issue just because they couldn't get a connection and then when I said to do it again, they said it's not our issue. I took it to the Honda dealership and they said there was nothing wrong with it. So don't waste your time go to Meineke and get it done there. Everyone at this facility was exceptionally nice! I am so impressed! I was also done in less than ten minutes because so few cars were in line; there was only one other car there (granted, I came at 8 am on a weekday--maybe do that!). I also decided to purchase a new license plate sticker, and the staff-member for that interior office was SO NICE. I have a pretty tricky last name, and he even did his best to say it and apologized (even though he did pretty well at pronouncing it!). He also made a little bit of conversation (without slowing down the line) and explained how to best place the sticker. He was just a great person and seemed to care about each customer. I brought my car here at the very end of the required emissions testing last year (I'm not usually one to procrastinate -- the notice was sent to the wrong address and I never received it) and there was surprisingly no line. My car actually failed, so I brought it to another auto shop down the street from here, had it tested, replaced the gas cap, came back, and passed. The end of the line of cars was out to the street but I gave it a shot. The team there does a superb job of getting tests done quickly and I made it through and PASSED right at 1pm closing. They close the entrance gate at the closing time so everyone on the lot inside the gate will still get tested. That's a tasty tip in case you are stressed in line. Keep the air clean! read more

I was there today on a Saturday when they have shorter hours open until 1pm. I was running late on my planned day and when i got there it was 1245pm and had a line down the street. I thought no way will i stay in line and make it. I waited in the end of line and it went a lot smoother than i thought. I was past the gate by a few cars when it hit 1pm and still cars behind me. They closed the gate after the last car in line got in and everyone that was in line got their test. I even was able to renew my sticker in the office after the 1pm close time i was all done at 125pm all together 40 min on a busy weekend!! not bad at all and friendly workers as well read more

Came to test my car. The guy who supposed to perform test, could n't find DLC connector (where they plug in testers) in my car (Mini Cooper), gave me paper: failed. Left facility, pulled over and checked for the connector. Its there in a factory specified place on the left side of dashboard. They need to train people better.
