I was given a lot of time to just look in the mirror at the pinning, helped me zip up, wasn't rushed, they also were able to provide advice on what exactly went into a type of change. I was uneasy about some wrinkles, but the tailor redid the pins and it looked better instantly. The price quote sounded reasonable and matched the internet quote I got from the owner. I was told edits will be ready in 4 days and when I asked about the new customer Yelp deal they were cool about it and said I could use it. Called and picked up the dress a few hours earlier than planned. Tried it out, am pretty amazed at how I couldn't tell there was any stitching or folding at all. I had previously gone to Alterations Specialists in TriBeCa for my fiancé's suit. They quoted him almost $550 for his alterations, claiming that the entire jacket needed to be restructured. I straight up left because that's robbery. Thank God for Imparali. I reached out via Yelp for a quote and got response back within the hour. We came in the same day we reached out and showed them the suit. Our quote was less than half of what Alterations Specialists quoted us, and the experience we got was way better. Ed helped my fiancé identify where the suit needed to be taken in, and where it fit already. He recommended a few tweaks and quoted us $220 for the jacket, pants and shirt. They hemmed and tapered the pant legs, jacket arms, shirt arms, and also pulled in the shoulders and waist on his jacket. We had a few additional revisions because we were looking for a specific fit, and Ed had no problem with revisions. Between Ed, Freddy and the entire team of seamstresses, they did an amazing job. I asked for a quote across the Yelp platform to a few tailors around the city. Matt (owner of Imparali) gave me a quote for hem, taper, and waist within 15-20minutes. The prices are super worth their craftsmanship. I tapered my jumpsuit with Wendy (the tailor) and it turned out super great. She listened to what you envision for your clothing and made good suggestions to work with what you wanted. My total was $25 +tax. Wendy also recommended to do some extra stitching but it costed $$$ and you don't necessarily have to do it! Everything from communication, professionalism, friendliness, and craftsmanship was awesome. Note: I brought in my jumpsuit on March 21 and my alteration (tapering) was done on March 29! I'm a friend of a regular that visits Matt and am definitely not one of his upscale clients. He and his team have constantly been friendly, attentive, and made sure I was completely happy. He's very honest, also. An uncle bought me 4 suit jackets from Men's Warehouse that were on sale a few years ago. I wasn't sure how well they fit and brought them into Matt. Matt won't provide quality service if he doesn't "make money off of you". I was looking to buy custom shirts so I decided to order 10 in November 2016 from Imparali. It was important to me that the shirts were an appropriate length to be worn untucked and tucked. Shirts came in 5-6 weeks later. When the shirts first came in they had my initials on the left cuff which I did not want, had to wait another 1-2 weeks for the cuffs to come in. I finally got the shirts and they were way too short to be worn untucked (they were shorter than I asked for). Matt first offered to add an extra button on the bottom to see if it looked better but that did not help so he had to remake the shirts. Shirts came in at the beginning of March and I had to get them cleaned 3 times before I could ask for any alterations. After getting them cleaned 3 times, just the arms had to be made a bit slimmer, a simple job. I brought them in while Matt was not there and they said the alterations would be done in a week, free of charge of course because the shirts are his product. Matt emails me a day later and says that he cannot do the alterations for free. I called him and he proceeded to say that because he did not "make any money off of me" he needed to charge me. Mind you the first two mistakes were his fault. I told him that I wouldn't pay for the alterations and picked up my shirts. I now have 10 custom shirts that I ordered 4 months ago that I am not happy with. Go to Proper Cloth instead, I should have went there in the first place. read more

I had not been able to find a tailor since moving to New York about eighteen months ago. So when I saw the positive reviews for Imparali, coupled with the close proximity to my office, I figured it seemed like a good option. Well, it wasn't. As an initial matter, it took them eighteen (18) days to complete alterations to the two suits I left with them. In all fairness, I told them that there was no particular rush when I left after having been measured. But I figured no rush meant ten days, maybe two weeks at the most. Instead, I waited almost three weeks. The real surprise, though, came after picking them up when I tried them on at my apartment. It was then that I realized that they hadn't done the alterations agreed at the time of my visit (or, at least, had done an exceptionally poor job). In fact, so far as I could tell, they hadn't done much of anything to the suits, which still seemed to fit about as poorly as they had when I dropped them off for alterations with Imparali. Another sign of the poor craftsmanship was the fact that both suits I brought in for alterations were by the same designer and in the same size. As such, I requested the same alterations to each suit. After getting them back from Imparali, however, they fit differently. I don't know enough about tailoring to appreciate those differences, but in addition to my own observation on this point, my wife also noticed it (without any prompting from me). On top of all of this, the cost to perform these alterations was close to $500. I understand that services are more expensive in the City, and I'm more than happy to pay for those services, the same way I get paid to do my job, when they are done right. To spend that type of money on shoddy or lazy (or both) work is immensely frustrating, however. I know from reading these reviews that people have had great experiences here having custom suits made for them. And I don't doubt that they dedicate more time and care into their work in that context. But if you are considering bringing suits here for alterations--don't. You'll end up spending a lot of money in exchange for waiting too long for a poor quality product. read more

When I came in for pickup, I was not totally satisfied with how the front of my dress came out. The seamstress hand sewed it and repressed it right on the spot and it came out great. Matt is a super nice and professional guy. If you're unsure, he makes recommendations on materials for you and never tries to sell anything you don't need. He makes sure everything fits right, and adjusts it if it does not. The office is really nice and conveniently located. The prices are reasonable for custom made. They are less than what you would pay for a designer suit in NYC, and that one you'd have to get altered on top of the purchase prices. Recommend 100%. read more

This review relates to bridal alterations done by Judy, their amazing seamstress!! I took 3 bridal gowns to her to alter and not only did she do an amazing job with all of them- she was super quick turning them around. Ladies, as you know, planning a wedding is really stressful and can cause a lot of weight fluctuations which it did for me. All my dresses had the corsets built in (I didn't want to be bothered with a bra) and were really structured which made it even more difficult to work with. On top of that- two were smaller than my size and if you know anything about bridal gowns- you know it's easier to alter a larger gown to make it smaller than the other way around. Finally, one of the gowns, I wanted to completely alter the top of it. Given the above, not only did she deliver on the vision for my gowns- they fit amazing!! She was so sweet, she even stayed back after hours to make sure the fittings (I had 3 for each gown) were not rushed and were perfect. She was completely professional and more importantly- took pride in her work which showed through in the final product. I was so impressed, I brought my sister-in-law to her to alter her wedding gown too! Also, Matt was really cool and quick to respond to all my questions. He worked with my schedule and so did Judy! Avoid avoid avoid.They don't know what they doing Inside the have Chinese people working on the suits . One of the worse tailors and worst service I have ever had. I brought my YSL Suit and my Armani Suit in for alterations because it was too loose and then they worked on it 2 time . After that they said will fix it again and still was wrong fit. Very disappointed about their reception service. The first time visits the store and the reception didn't even want to double check with seamstress about exact collected time until I asked him can you please ask for me then he finally goes ahead and ask. Second time when I go back for collection while I check out, the person at reception said how much I need to pay, however I already told him I did that while first time I was there, the person replied "immediately" said I didn't!? Then I showed him the receipt with "paid in full" then he believed that. The store has its own copy about which customer come to the service, shouldn't question customers without double check their payment status or even insisted they didn't pay at all.
