We love the Chinese here at Imperial Gourmet. Been coming here for many years and enjoy the Sunday brunch as well as the family dinners. Our favorites are sweet and sour shrimp, mu-shu shrimp, sesame chicken, egg rolls, wonton soup and the ribs. Family dinner servings are fairly large. read more

The first time i came here it was really good. But now, it isn't because the portions are small for just a high price. Last time i ate here with my dad, our food that we ordered was extremely greasy. So greasy that their was a lot of oil sitting on the bottom of our plates. Slow service and a bug in our $8.00 Scorpion drink. When we called management over to discuss the bug the waiter made it sound like the bug was in the drink after he made it. We were half way through our Mongolian beef and Chicken Cow Mein when this happened. When our food was delivered we had to send the Chicken Cow Mein back, it was cold. OMG, this is my second time here...I come from LA. This is the only Chinese restaurant in this city...as far as we know. The food is good, and the service is fast and nice. I like their decorations~ fine and Chinese style. For Chinese food in a small town, you can't beat it. Amazing soup and appetizers. For dinner, we love getting the combination dinners. You can't go wrong with general tzus dinner or the 3 ingredients. Only downside is that you need to be prepared to spend money to eat here. If you are drinking you will spend +$150 for 4 people. We stayed over night in Bishop on Father's Day and decided to go for Chinese food. The restaurant is decorated very nicely and has a full bar. There were three of us at dinner. Service was very good and we all enjoyed what we ordered, especially the walnut chicken and the moo shu pork. read more

Love having Chinese food Restaurant when we come to Bishop!! Usually order pot stickers, lucky Family, mushoo pork, beef and broccoli , fried rice, and a glass of wine or beer. Always good tasting and freshly prepared. Service is great too! Love to chat with the waitress on what's happening! Try to come early to get a booth. Gets busy during dinner hours. Food was prepared fresh and with generous portions. We enjoyed the wonton soup for 2 that was perfect for 3 of us. Chow mien noodles with chicken where served in a yummy sauce with fresh green onion. The food was Ok but, the portions were on the small side for the price. We had ordered the Imperial Dinner and for $20 a person we had expected more. It doesn't compare to the Chinese food in Southern California. The Chowmein was plain, our fried rice had no ingredients in it. It looked like regular brown rice. We weren't really sure where to eat in Bishop as we were just passing through, but we gambled on Chinese and were very pleasantly surprised with the excellent food, service, and atmosphere. The food came out in less than 5 minutes, and had obviously been prepared right then. It was all really tasty. The service was also great, really prompt and friendly. We are vegan and there were a lot of options for us. The prices seemed reasonable for the Eastern Sierras, everything up there costs a little more, even in the grocery stores, so wasn't surprised to pay a little more than we are used to for what we got. read more

Service was very bad. The servers forgot to put us in the waiting list while they were fighting each other. We waited 30 minutes to get a dirty sticky table. Our server was nice but the food was very oily and more expensive than it should be. I don't recommend that place unless you want to spend lot of money to get fat. read more

Their schezwan green beans ARE SO GOOD. The other items on their menu are pretty good also, however, can tend to make you feel like you've gained a million pounds. Unlike most restaurants in Bishop, they do offer delivery. Which is awesome. Always make sure to stop here when coming through bishop. There is plenty of food and the lunch prices are very reasonable. The sweet and sour chicken and orange chicken is crazy delicious. I find it puzzling, but I never wrote a review about this place. My wife and I first went here over 20 years ago when they were in the Cottonwood Plaza. Word has it that the owners of the Cottonwood panicked when the Great Recession hit, jacked up the rent/lease price of their tenants, chased them out and broke their own business thereby. I do not know if it is true, but when the Imperial Gourmet re-opened across the road I was delighted. More than twenty years...time goes by, but it is good if some institutions remain. It is not the very best Chinese food, but it is damn good, and service is good too. I am not giving it five stars because I am not a bot and do not want Yelp to think I am; I was last in Bishop last January and need to go again. read more
