The fried wontons were very good. I enjoyed the chicken dish and the shrimp. The family of the workers children were there making a lot of noise and running around which was distracting and there was no music to drown them out. The fried rice was dark and tasted a bit off. I was a long time customer years ago. I came back to visit the island for a bit and have tried all my old favorites around town. Imperial Orchid offered the same high quality I remember! They were fantastic! The owner was/is still professional and polite as ever. I had an egg roll with fresh ingredients that still crunched. Having past this establishment for the past 14 years, hubs and I finally took the plunge and enjoyed a great night of classic Chinese cuisine. As others noted, the room is WHITE, updated and has a clean, look to it. On this Wednesday night, there were a few other patrons sitting down to eat, but it appeared as the take-out counter had most of the action, not a bad thing, We did order a sushi roll, actually a special one, since I only do sushi in soy paper and they gladly accommodated us. YUMMY sweet mango roll!! Then it was onto the $20 dinner special with probably some of the tastiest Wonton soup this side of Chinatown/NYC!! Then onto the non-greasy and prefect egg rolls - It was about then that I looked at my husband and went WHY DID WE WAIT SO LONG!?!??!?! Holy cow, this is a goldmine in our own backyard! General Tao's Chicken was on point, as was the Tangerine Beef. For dessert options, they have ice cream, but on this night all they had was Pistachio and so I opted for the pineapple - Now, granted, I know, it's August and pineapples are in season, but for some reason I was given a crystal dish of very chilled Dole Pineapple chucks. Maybe it's me and I would think it would have been nicer to get REAL pineapple, but I may just be picky!!! Service was good - like most Chinese establishments, they seem to hover and want to be there for every little thing you may need - our server hovered a little too much and never explained why at the end, I failed to sign my CC receipt... Overall, will come back again - may even go with the take-out route, seemed to be the popular option instead of sitting in an Ikea catalog with blue LED lights!! Never judge a restaurant by its exterior. My wife and I arrived at 5pm on a Wednesday and while waiting for the rest of our group to arrive we grew skeptical. The sign on the outside gave us the impression it was a sushi place. As we ventured inside it was really nice and we were seated immediately while we waited for everyone else. The service was great and the food was equally great! The prices were a tiny bit more than I am accustomed to. Overall, a really good experience. read more

This place is truly a gem. I was here many years ago, and came back for the first time tonight. It has been completely renovated, and is very modern and clean. We were sat right away by the extremely friendly hostess. Our waitress quickly came over, and took our drink order. She was also very friendly and pleasant. They have an amazing 4 course meal for $19.95. Of course, that is what everyone in my party ordered. Such a great deal and so much food! I ordered wonton soup, an egg roll, general tso's chicken, fried rice , and ice cream! ( I definitely did not finish all of that!) Everything was really delicious. We tried Imperial Orchid for this first time this evening and will definitely be back. We tried the sushi menu and everything was very fresh, delicious and the presentation was excellent. The staff was very pleasant, attentive and eager to please. The place was recently renovated and the décor is easy on the eyes. There is no loud, blaring music and there is no fishy smell as you enter. The dining experience was very comfortable. Next time maybe we will try the Chinese or Thai menu although I was more than satisfied with the sushi. read more

We've been loyal customers of Imperial Orchid for the last 8 years and have consistently ordered take out on average once per week. The food used to be amazing! For the past several months since the change in ownership, the food had the same great taste with the only noticeable change being the new larger menu and updated restaurant renovations. Tonight's dinner was extremely disappointing and lacked flavor. Unfortunately, since the change in management, they've clearly changed direction and hired a different chef. Food quality has changed...Chicken in the chicken and broccoli was hard and overcooked, egg rolls smaller and lacked flavor, lo mein had more onions than noodles, and the young chow fried rice was fishy. Even the house condiments(i.e. duck sauce) has changed. I'm sad to say that our patronage will be ending as we explore other local Chinese take out restaurants. read more

You won't believe what they've done to the place! Looks like a hole in the wall but once you walk in you are transported to a lounge. They need to pipe in some chill house music and make this a weekend spot, and a new sign would help. But the food is good and prices are reasonable. I have lived in the deer park area for over3 years now, as I have one to understand they just redid this place. Without getting to crazy detail, the food and service was on point, it was super busy when I went tonight, yet my glass was always full, my food was delicious, and well presented. If you like sushi, try the calamari dragon, unlike anything I have seen, and super tasty. I live pretty close to this place so I get takeout from here about once a month. I usually get chicken lo mein and I'm never disappointed with the way they make it. The brown sauce that they make is always tastier than anyone else's lo mein sauce. But a few days ago I was in the mood for a bit more so I also got a pint of wonton soup (for the first time from here). Now, I've had wonton soup at more than a few Chinese restaurants in the past and have found most of them to be at least reasonably good. But when I tried it from Imperial Orchid I was, frankly, amazed! First off, I got 5 large wontons, rather than 2 or 3 as would be typical at any other Chinese restaurant. Secondly, they tasted much better than any other wonton I've ever had, with a delightful meaty taste, unlike wontons from most other places, which tend to be rather tasteless. So I went back again tonight for more of it. This time, however, it wasn't quite as good (only good but not excellent) but that may be because I arrived only a half-hour before closing so maybe they couldn't make them fresh this time. Regardless, I have found the Imperial Orchid to be, by far, one of the best Chinese restaurants in Suffolk County. read more
