Dan is wonderful. I took my car in today to get the brakes done. I was certain that I needed to have them replaced, because they felt funny (and it has been a while since I've replaced them). I called a few weeks ago to get an estimate for the replacement. Upon looking at the car, Dan let me know that my brakes were fine. The issue was that I had air in the brake line. He removed the air and confirmed that my brakes (front and back) were just fine - essentially saving me about $230. He could have easily just changed my breaks and charged me what I expected to pay. They took my car in right away. I expected at least a full day of work to fix my radiator problem, but i got a call back within just a few hours saying my car is done. So i came right in to pick it up and the new radiator looks and works great. The price was exactly what they estimated beforehand and they didn't charge me when they filled my car with coolant. Every time I've been to other shops to get my oil changed or whatever done, I always get these "recommended" things to replace to fluids to put into my car. I've even been to one place who told me I had a bad leak, and then came back later and they told me my car was fine. I'm a working guy making ends meet and the last thing I need is someone telling me about things my car doesn't need. Now when it comes to Import Auto Repair I get told exactly what I need and when I need it. I've even called asking about certain things and one of the two mechanics (Dan or Richard) have always directed me to the correct solution to handle what I need. This is the kind of shop that's worth making a road trip for. This kind of honesty and lifetimes worth of knowledge just doesn't exist outside of super elite veteran mechanic auto circles. Dan's knowledge and estimate made taking my car to him an obvious choice. Dan is as good as they get. Was able to service same day and while I waited because it failed emissions. What was special is that Dan knew my car so well that he knew it was likely the tubing leading to the EGR valve and not the valve itself. He was correct and my bill reflected that. Any other shop likely would have charged part and labor for valve in addition to cleaning the tubing - if they even knew to do that. Excellent shop! Honest and knowledgeable. Took our Mazda minivan to major chain to diagnose a noise - we were pretty sure it had to do with the tires or suspension. They misdiagnosed, "fixed", and the noise was still there. Took it to Import Auto and they replaced the bearings. Noise gone, peace of mind returned. On a separate issue (van hesitating / increasingly poor performance) they said it could be plugs, plug wires, or coil packs. After narrowing down which plugs it was related to, they started with the least expensive fix to see if that would work. We did end up needing to go back, but I'd rather not go with the most expensive fix first!! I'd highly recommend these guys! read more

My 2007 BMW needed an oxygen sensor replaced. I ordered the part and was going to do the work myself, but found it to be more difficult than I had hoped. I brought my car and the part to Import Auto Repair and Dan immediately took a break from what he was doing and came outside to take a look. He said he could use the part I had purchased (though he couldn't warrant it, of course), and gave me a rough estimate for the replacement work. A few days later I brought the car back, they double checked the codes and made sure I had the correct part, and quickly installed it. Dan even took the time to explain to me how he did it.
