Vanilla Latte
Wendi K.

What more could you want from a coffee shop? Atmosphere: This cozy, tiny corner spot exudes homey vibes, featuring an eclectic mix of furniture that looks like it was lovingly collected over time. The charming, mismatched decor creates a warm and inviting environment. Food & Drink: For $21.50, you can enjoy two flavored lattes--vanilla and cardamom--along with a delicious sausage breakfast sandwich. The microfoam on the lattes is absolutely beautiful, elevating the entire experience. As you enter, the delightful aroma of freshly baked pastries fills the air, alongside items that can be prepared in a toaster oven. The breakfast sandwiches are all made from scratch, ensuring they are incredibly tasty! Plus, the vanilla latte is crafted with real vanilla beans, adding an authentic touch to your drink. Kind staff. Good Wi-Fi.

Perfect example of looks can be deceptive . we were initially disappointed when we came in because the place is small , unassuming and has that coffeeshop next door vibe . Jokes on us for being too quick to judge , because the coffee was loved by everyone in our group. We got multiple cups of the Sakura Latte, cortado and Flat white and everyone loved what they got . The Sakura Latte was light and sweet and had a distinctive lychee taste with Sakura . Tasted fantastic even though I am not a fan of the sweetened version of beverages. The space is small but there is seating good enough for a few people. The staff was kind, not too chatty or friendly but definitely very good at their job.

Coffee tastes great! I got a Rose Latte and enjoyed it. On my scale of expensiveness, I would describe it as mid-expensive. The coffeeshop was smaller than I imagined but it was pretty empty when we arrived.

Consider In J COFFEE a sanctuary for those with elevated coffee palates & a place where standards soar higher than your morning energy boost. Things you should know: I. PARKING You'll have to rely on good ol' street parking II. SERVICE The baristas here are the Da Vincis of coffee, juggling orders like seasoned pros. I recently threw Court a barrage of drink requests, and they managed to promptly pump out the orders--while still managing to engage in a chat that would make even your therapist envious. And guess what? For my fellow chess enthusiasts, there's a board waiting for your move between sips. III. QUALITY You want latte art? Check. Locally sourced pastries? Double check. Unique twists to your daily ritual? Just glance at their menu--seriously, the dirty chai latte just might rock your world. IV. CAPACITY Seating's tighter than your favorite skinny jeans, but fear not! The golden hour to come here is at 11 am--a sweet spot where you can order your bev without waiting in a line.

honey rose latte, maple oat latte

drink: 3/5 service: 3.5/5 ambiance: 3/5 from the outside, In J Coffee is a hole in the wall! walking in, my immediate thoughts were: cozy, not a place to study, and a place where people in the neighborhood come for their daily coffee. In J seems to update their seasonal drinks frequently, so the sea salt cream latte and the dalgona latte are no longer available (from other photos on yelp) :(. my friend and i ordered the 12 oz Honey Rose Latte and the Maple Oat Latte hot for the latte art! we expected the honey rose latte to have the rose petals on top like the other photos here on yelp, but we did not receive any which was a bit saddening. drinks wise, we found the flavor to be just okay. the winner for us was the Maple Oat Latte, as we could taste hints of the maple syrup but not so much espresso for both of the drinks. the rose latte tasted like warm milk with a hint of rose, so we were a little disappointed with how the drinks tasted. we also noticed that there was only a 25¢ difference between 12 oz and 16 oz! but we realized that too late before ordering the smaller size. not sure if we would be back to this spot for coffee, but i would come back to check out their seasonal drinks if one were to catch my eye.

The coffee was great! I had an iced white mocha with oat milk, very yummy. My partner got a hot vanilla latte with oat milk and also really loved it. The breakfast sandwich was pretty good as well but had a sauce that felt like a bit much for a morning sandwich. The vibes are alright. It's a small space but it's cozy, feels very hole in the wall. The service was friendly and fast. I think if we return we'll plan to just grab and go. Overall I would say, it's definitely worth popping in to try the coffee!

Great coffee and bagel breakfast sandwiches. I especially enjoyed the latte that tastes like the rose Turkish delight-- Rose honey latte. So good that we had to stop by on our second PDX family trip and you know that there is no shortage of coffee shops here.

Portland, OR does unique like nowhere else. And in a cutesy space where white walls, a large mural in the back, tchotchkes and a sprawling plant rule, J is it with a chill vibe and super friendly service. Our Saturday dinner was so satisfying- all we needed were some hot beverages the next morning to start our day. Between my Almond Milk Matcha on a chilly morning, my daughter's Oat milk Cappuccino, her friend's coffee drink and my husband's decaf Iced Americano, all was well- except for that lonely pastry left as J ran out of everything else.

Woke up on my first morning in Portland on a weeklong "vacation" (aka i had to wfh the first couple days) and decided to start here. It sits on a corner across from a cute green area and is in a very pretty part of town. When I got there at around 8a, I expected it to be very busy with a long line, but we beat the crowds, and had practically no wait. I brought my computer and planned to work from here, which was a great idea, as they had comfortable seating, outlets, everywhere, great lighting, and very fast Wi-Fi. I ordered one of their breakfast sandwiches, they have Megan cheese on an everything bagel, and was surprised by the first bite to taste thousand island sauce, which actually added an interesting and dynamic flavor profile I had not normally experienced with this type of breakfast sandwich. Delicious. I paired with an iced Ube latte, my first time seeing that flavor in a latte, and it really shone through, not only in the vibrant color, but in the very noticeable and present Ube flavor. It was part of a limited time summer menu. I absolutely loved it and it powered me through a good three hours of work that I got done diligently here. The staff is so sweet and friendly, as I can say about many people in Portland now. This would be my go to coffee shop for any work from home day I take again here. Loved it!! Thank you

Nice cozy coffee shop. Staffs were professional and nice. Patrick was good. Coffee seem a bit lighter than I expected and the taste was ok.

Sample sale on the pastries!!

Here in Portland for the week and I found the cutest cafe. I've been stopping by everyday for their soy matcha latte. Also, I think they've been trying out a new baker - there's been a $2 sample sale on the pastries. I've tried their butter croissant and banana bread. Both are great! You also know that a place is dog friendly. They have a bowl of dog treats at the register. Everyone's been really friendly!

Dropped by In J Coffee on a somewhat rainy morning to grab a coffee and wander a bit. I of course grabbed my usual basic drink -- a vanilla latte, hot. My drink was good and service was super friendly. I was definitely eyeing other things on the menu and can see myself going back to try more items. The interior is super cute, though on the petite side. I opted to order then wait outside and just keep my ears open for them to call out my order! Parking in the area is mainly street parking and there are some benches in the area if you want to grab and go sit somewhere. Overall, pretty good coffee at a reasonable price range and friendly service. Try it out if you are in the area!

A cute little coffee shop that's located right next to PSU -- we stopped by after the farmers market for a quick pick-me-up! The staff was super sweet and they made the drinks really quickly. It's a nice spot which seems like a hidden find with a cute ambiance inside. I got a hot chocolate and it wasn't anything super unique (kind of tasted like Swiss Miss) but my friend really liked her drink!

Spectacular heavy cream biscuit with local Oregon strawberries and a lovely whipped cream, legit, not the aerosolized kind. I highly recommend starting your day with this. We also shared the shredded pork eggs Benedict. I liked it a lot, although I generally appreciate a bit more lemon taste in hollandaise sauce, but this hollandaise was so creamy, smooth and flavorful, I'm not mad. The breakfast potatoes served with this are very tasty - delightfully seasoned and perfectly cooked - crispy outside and fluffy inside. The coffee was very good. Our server, Jared B., was great; just enough interaction to be sure we had what we needed at all times, and as personable as he was efficient. Beautiful location that was spotless and comfortable.

We got here at 10am on a Monday, and every table was filled. It looked like they had numerous staff, but I would guess that the traffic level must be hard to manage. Perhaps because of this, my order of Sawmill breakfast was very poorly prepared. The gravy was luke warm at best. The eggs had the texture of frozen powdered egg that was just thawed. The biscuit was like a brick and hard to eat. I also saw numerous other patrons who were leaving their scrambled eggs untouched. The chicken tenders were warm and delicious, and the quiche was decent. Salad was probably the highlight. Besides that, I think the vibes inside the restaurant were very beautiful and memorable. Just unfortunate that the food was very sub par. I probably wouldn't recommend if you were trying to impress someone important.

I'm going to be thinking about those Foie Gras Dumplings for quite a long time…read more All items I tried last night at Canard were creative, flavorful, well presented and reasonably priced. The garlic fries were spicy in the best way, perfectly crisp, and served steaming hot. The Duck Stack (pancakes covered with duck gravy, onions, and a duck egg) sounded a bit odd to me (and probably many others). When I asked the server if it was good, they told me that people travel to the restaurant specifically for that dish. I'm glad I tried it. Again, very unique with a well balanced spice profile paired with the delicious undertones of a hot pancake. I know I would have never thought of that, doesn't sound like it should work, but....it worked! Service was great, atmosphere was a bit loud with a band playing next door, it was a bit overwhelming, plus a random dude walked into the restaurant and a server lit his joint for him as a courtesy(?)...stunk the place up for a few minutes, but as I thought about it, I decided that was about the most "Portland" thing I had seen all week on my trip :) I'll be going back for sure, I would love to taste through that entire menu. Did I mention the Foie Gras Dumplings? I never had anything like them in my life. That's a dish I would definitely travel back to Portland for.

They actually had a couple choices, and I got the cauliflower tinga. I don't know if it's because I had more coffee and alcohol than food in me at the moment, but it was the best dish I've tasted in a long time. Very spicy, but flavorful. Every cocktail unfolded in layers of flavors. (I tried a sip of my friends' drinks, and I had the Jazzy Aperol Spritz.) Very unique and complex combinations. Seriously, vegans--don't sleep on the tinga. I tried to order another one for the road but there was a snafoo, maybe they saw it and dismissed it as a dupe. We had the coffee (Extracto, love.), I had a really good hef and my mother a very well balanced Bellini that I was very pleasantly surprised with trying. From what I saw, the lunch sounds very good and I'd be more apt to recommend folks give that a shot if they happened to be going there too. I'm not sure if I'd recommend as a must go stop. Vibe wise, the ambience is overall really nice. I think having rolled flatware, even with just upgraded napkins, would better complete the aesthetic you initially see and feel. This would also connect with the price point of the food and quality of the beverages. As a fellow server, on that note I would expect more consistent stronger visual appearance standards with servers. (Sorry guys! But some of you looked great!) Overall, I'd definitely join a friend for coffee and lunch over there in the future. Just wouldn't be my top pick for a celebratory brunch or intimate dinner with a date or friends and fam.
