I've been coming here since I was a kid and the wait time has always been ridiculous.. 30-55 minutes for an overrated burger or fries that I can devour in about 5 minutes doesn't justify it for me.. After all these years I'm really shocked at how oblivious In-N-Out has been to overlook all the people that have put up with the lack of parking, dining room and drive thru management... this by no means is a review on the food quality because we all know the burgers and fries are good.. I love In-N-Out so it's always a five star in my heart, but this location is more hectic than any other location I've been too. It's made for drive-thru really as there are only outside seating and two drive-thru lanes, which is pretty awesome. However, because of this, the kitchen is so tiny and I'm so amazed that around 8-10 people were able to fit and manage to cook and take orders. These workers deserve higher pay than other locations. The line here is always tremendously long. We opted for parking across the street then walked over. They do have a small parking lot but it's a hassle since cars will tandem park and all that. There is a person standing in front with the screen and register that takes your order if you want to do the walk-up instead of drive-thru. Sometimes people are annoying, waiting in front of the register misleading you to think it's a line, but there isn't so just always ask if people are in line or if they ordered already or you'll be waiting for no reason. The girl working at the time did a great job of acknowledging you to go up to order though. The price here is higher than other locations as well. I think it's because it's Pasadena. It's also a much longer wait because of all the things I've said with the drive-thru and tiny space for them to prepare food. I've avoided this location for it's small size and lines out the streets, but I thought I'd give them a try. Went at night for the first time and went home with the wrong order after a 20 min wait. Ended up with a veggie burger. I would've been somewhat satisfied if the fries were cooked correctly. They might as well have served me mashed potatoes. Came here to pick up some food for my sister and me around 1 PM. There was a small wait of about 15-20 minutes to get our food, but service is great as usual! This is not really a place to park, but I think they have a couple spots. It's more of a drive-through location. We got our order of 2 animal style fries, a cheeseburger, and a double double with chopped chilis. The burgers were phenomenal as usual, but the fries were under cooked. I know this location can get pretty busy, so you may have to wait in the street. Be respectful of signage (the ones that indicate to leave driveways clear). I noticed in-n-out drive-thru locations can take a bit of time, but it's worth it for a cheap tasty burger with great service. read more

It's funny that the longer you wait, the better the food tastes. This was me waiting along Foothill Boulevard in my car for about half an hour, inching my way to the driveway, and not blocking driveways of surrounding businesses. Because this is one of the more iconic In & Out locations, I wanted to try it after 20 something years of not coming to this location. Upon entering, I was met with a very slender attendant, who took my order and communicated with the kitchen, made up of mostly women. As I drove closer, I paid an equally slender woman, as she safely traversed vehicles, obstacles and people to get the change or cards back to customers. Now I know why these women were chosen to handle ordering and payments! Upon getting my order, I noticed the chefs did not miss a beat, and got all the orders correct. Typically when I go to in n out during their lunch rush, I'm already anticipating a long wait (as I used to work for the company and understand it can get chaotic at times). However, I was pleasantly surprised that even with a line stretching out past the corner, I still received my meal in SIX MINUTES from the time I ordered! When life gets busy, and it is about to get busier for me as mid-2016 approaches, I appreciate the quality fast food that I can find just about anywhere in LA county. When in the need of a hearty protein punch, I head to In N Out. I was in Pasadena working at one of my research gigs, and I was headed back home. Famished from a long day, I quickly yelped the nearest In N Out, and ended up here. This place is small, smaller than most In N Out location that I've been to. They are more of a drive-thru, although they have limited outdoor seating. I don't know if they have a restroom on site for customer, as I just grabbed my food and went. Parking is limited, three spots for anyone to use, and one for handicap. Aside from that, the drive into this site is small, so you'd have to approach it from the same side of the street that it's on. For a small place, they made an especially tasty burger. And I'm talking about a 3x0, which is generally very bland in flavor but is characteristic of my habit to eat for function (somewhat-lean-protein!!!) over flavor. The workers here also go the line moving very fast. Talk about a great thing in a small package, the crew here owns it! Now I'm home, and still continuing with work. The employees are friendly and always manage to crank out the food to hungry customers efficiently. Great burgers, you can never go wrong with In-N-Out. Always get a Double-Double animal style and fries with special sauce and a side of chili peppers. Sometimes I'll ask for a Double-Double animal-style WITH an extra onion inside. Seating is limited; even more so for parking. I recommend parking south around Gladys and Craig and then walking up to eat. This location is always busy; during the lunch and dinner rush there are times where I've waited up to 30 minutes to receive my order... Minus one star for the awful location/traffic situation. During the lunch and dinner rush the cars line up and spill out onto the streets, causing major traffic and hazard. For cars heading east on Foothill be wary since the cars line up onto the street; I've seen accidents on that section from cars running into cars waiting for the drive-thru at over 40 mph. So next time, instead of causing a major traffic congestion by going to the drive-thru, park a block or two away and WALK YOUR FAT LAZY ASSES TO THE ORDERING WINDOW!! read more

Long lines & a stressful location. Solution: Have fun with "In-N-Out Lane Racing" Most In-N-Out fans know what it's like to get that double-double craving. It starts with the flavor of the juicy, fresh ingredients, then the bouquet of fresh fries seeps in, then perhaps a thick neopolitan shake sings its song, all creating an orchestra of different cravings. You're doomed. And that was me, sitting in my car with a full Protein Style 3x3 culinary concert raging in my head. All I could think about was inhaling that traditional first bite as I pull out of In-N-Out's driveway on Foothill. Unfortunately, once you're caught at that level of food anticipation, then things become a bit blurry. All this feasting fury creates a new level of aggression for customers. And that's related to precisely my next point. The In-N-Out on East Foothill Boulevard has kept local traffic and businesses hot and bothered for years (see my uploaded pix). We're talking Burger Bitching. Double-Double-Drama. Mayo Mayhem. Lawsuits, police calls, accidents, road rage...even fisticuffs. Let's face it. When you're hungry for In-N-Out, your mental stability can get a little shaky if the wait is long. So, once you get there, seeing a long line of cars is about as comforting as finding out that you need a root canal when you were only due for a teeth cleaning. For me, whenever I sit in that permanent line that inches its way up to the drive-thru window, God help the poor soul who tries to cut in front of me. The stress starts on the street. You must literally dive for a spot in the line of cars that hug the curb, all crawling their way up to the driveway. But the anxiety doesn't stop there. Once you reach the driveway, you have to very seriously consider which of the two paths to point your car. Like choosing a cashier in a grocery store, only more life-threatening. Here are some helpful rules about what I call "Lane Racing" at In-N-Out: Rule #1: From each drive-up window, count the number of cars in each lane from your position. This will be your Target Car. The one that you are racing. Deeply consider the number of cars in front as a factor, but never assume anything. Why? Rule #2: Passenger vans or big SUV's stuffed with people/kids is death. It's like following an MTA bus on the Indianapolis race track. You'll find yourself yelling and waving hand gestures as you see them try to make up their indecisive minds. One would think that with all that time sitting in line, they would have been ready to order by the time they reached the speaker. Unlike you, who is ready like a SWAT team, you can see them turning to the passengers and asking them their order. Remember to visually scan and give a head count for every car. In general, more heads = SLOWer line. Rule #3: Entering the pick-up window at your driver's side or the passenger side is a critical choice. Generally, people who have passengers will chose the passenger side entry. Why? Because they're too lazy to reach all the way across the inside of the car to pay and grab their food. So, this means that many people only enter this left line when they have passengers to make it easier to grab the passenger side drive-up window. Remember: Passengers = More Food = Slower = You Lose. Count the number heads in each car. Rule #4: Watch the general flow of each line. Not all In-N-Out staff are created equally. Some are lightning fast and I have many times found myself taking the shorter line, while I sat and watched the other target car reach the window before me. Rule #5: Once you have committed to a line, remember that you're in a life-or-death race with the other target car. They are your enemy and they are the reason why your food is taking so long. Of course, once you're in line, there's not much that you can do. That is, except for my secret weapon. Taunting. Yes, taunt them with hand gestures. Make faces. Shoot them stink eye stares. These tactics may make them lose their cool. And if you're lucky, it will unnerve them and they'll freak, hit the accelerator, and bump the car in front of them. Consider that a checkered flag to the winners circle. Wave bye-bye to them as they get out of their cars to check the damage. Of course, this is the reason why the area has endured years of fisticuffs and accidents. Maybe it's safer to simply stop and grab a snack before entering the line an In-N-Out on Foothill. In-n-out is soooooo yummy! I do not have a bad experience. Their menu is so simple but delicious. You can customize any order and it is inexpensive. The employees are nice. The parking at this location is limited to 4 spots including hanidcap so if you plan to eat here (outside seating only) opt in for street parking. I support and super duper recommend. read more

There are 2 windows for the drive through, one on each side of the small building. With the one and only exception to In-N-Out, I don't do fast food--like EVER. I'd rather go hungry than resort to anything from a McDonalds, Wendys, Burger King, etc...but In-N-Out, especially post Fast Food Nation reading and Supersize Me viewing, is good to go in my book. The fresh quality of their menu items are evidenced in the fact that they don't use microwaves or freezers. I love the fact that their menu hasn't changed in decades; a true testament that if you have a good product, you don't have to change things just because people are getting more ADD with time. And yet another stand-out characteristic of In-N-Out is their super efficient, and positive mannered employees! Let's face it, when service is bad it really puts a damper on your food experience (even if the food is good). Which leads me to the final point: the burgers are excellent and the shakes, hard to resist. At this particular location, there is ALWAYS a line which is a bit of a pain. I've arrived there once before they were officially open (around 10:30am...what a lush) and that was the ONLY time in the history of me & In-N-Out that I didn't have to wait. I didn't take away any stars because of all I mentioned above-- the wait is worth it! Primarily a drive-through location as they do not have an indoor seating area like other In-N-Outs. The car lines are usually super long, so I always choose to park, order, then sit outside. We get our food much faster than people waiting in their cars. There's only 4 parking spots at this location, but street parking wasn't hard to find. The food is as good as always. Very small location and the drive-thru line can get very long even at near closing time, often blocking the right lane of eastbound Foothill. If you are vegetarian, you are truly missing out and I feel sorry for you. Do not be intimidated by the lines! Good things come to those whom wait and there is no way that all these people are wrong. Grilled onions are a good bet, sometimes I do it Animal Style, and that is preference. Honestly, I tend to give every In n Out I visit 5 stars, because I mean, it's In n Out. It pains me to take a star off this one, but I just didn't like the location. This was my first time ever seeing an In n Out with no indoor seating area. The parking lot was super small, so I ended up having to find residential area parking, as the lot behind it has 14,000,605 signs up that made it clear In n Out parking was not allowed in their lot. There's a register outside next to a walk up pickup window for people who do park somewhere or want to eat there at one of the outdoor tables. Otherwise, there's the drive thru. The downside of no indoor seating means they have the soda machine with them inside the kitchen. This means no self serve refills! I placed my order at 1:54 PM on a Friday, and got my food 30 minutes later. It was busy, and I'm not sure if that's typical wait during a rush, but usually it doesn't feel too bad to me as I'm used to receiving my soda cup to get my drink while I wait. In hindsight, I would've asked for it earlier here, since they typically wait to give it to you with your order. Onto the food. I moved from San Jose to Seattle a month ago, so I've been deprived of In n Out for that long. I got the double double combo, spread only, fries well done $7.75. The burger tasted a tad more salty than I remember, not a huge deal. I feel like their well done fries were more well done than my home In n Out did theirs, but that could just be my imagination since I'm relying on memory from a month ago. The bummer was that due to the outdoor location, there was no self serve ketchup, and I couldn't grab lemon wedges by the drink station. I like to squeeze lemon juice into one of those little ketchup cups, and dip my fries into ketchup and then the lemon juice for a nice added tang. Here, they did provide 2 lemon wedges when I asked, but I had to make do with a water cup to hold my lemon juice. It felt a bit awkward to have to tip the cup to dip my fries in the small amount of lemon juice at the bottom.
