This is not what I expected. I expected a piping hot burger and clean tables and chairs to sit at and eat my meal. But this is not what I got at the Santee location. I will try a different location if I bother to stop at a in-out-burger again. UPDATE 7/14/19 I decided to give In-N-Out Burger another whirl and chose a different location @ 100 Fletcher Pkwy El Cajon CA. The El Cajon restaurant was Sparkling clean, the Burger were Hot and Juicy, the Fries were Delicious, and the Customer Service was Superb at this location. 3 out of 5 times I come here my order is always wrong. I don't notice it until I get home. I come here after work around midnight. So I don't check because I just want to get home and get eat. Today I order #1 with grilled onions and no spread. Instead I get a #2 with raw onions and animal style. Sad part was I waited longer then usual for my food. I get it late and near closing. By far the most organized and happiest location! Love the food and it is consistent at the other locations in East County however I think this one has the best drive thru layout. Repeat customer coming through, make way. 6 days on the road and I'm a long long way from home. Had a hinkerin', did some thinkerin' and made my way on down to the old In-and-Out. Parking: SLOOOW DOWN! This is a pretty tense parking lot folks, I won't lie. Lots of phones in hands, people reaching in their to-go bags, going animal style on themselves if you will. A magical Mastercard transaction took place, I took my # to heart, and I poured myself up a fine soft drink w/ ice and the fixings.. 4 minutes and I couldn't believe my eyes! Does all this mess belong to me? My flying dutchman and animal fries never cease to rock my world, and this time, baby, they shook me up real good So who's the mvp of the staff you ask? Good question, bud. I gotta give it up to the magic man himself, Mr. big wig, DAVID. This kind man seems to be involved with every part of the process, from cleaning grease traps to settling guest quarrels with grace and tact. Ev'rybody likes David. He'll whiz by and next thing you know you have a clean place setting and sauce to spare. Whenever I go and David isn't there I think to myself, "Early day, eh Dave?" Oh man. I'm super bummed to write this review. I don't like leaving anything less than 4 but food poisoning is a warranted 1 Star. Order: Grilled Cheese (No tomato or onion) Animal fry (No onion) Diet Coke I asked for an extra side of spread and I truly think this is the culprit. I added some to my grilled cheese and didn't notice anything, but when I got to my fries I noticed a chemical-like taste. First bite was off putting. Second bite I could tell something was wrong. I smelled the packet of spread and realized it was sour. If sour is even the right word? I was sick within 5 minutes and I've been violently ill for the last three hours. I would also like to point out for the sake of argument, I've been sick with the flu for the last three days. Besides tea and soup, this is the first real substance I've put in my body. I haven't had in n out for a while so bf and I decided to come and grab a quick bite to eat. At first we were a little hesitant since we were hungry & most of the time the line here is out of control. However to our pleasant surprise the line was actually pretty decent. We were first greeted by a nice young man who took our order, he was very careful to make sure our orders were precise as my bf likes his double double plain, like we are talking zero sauce and zero toppings. He likes just meat, cheese and bread! Of course when you come to in n out you have to snag a Neapolitan shake to finish off the burger and fries. Gosh that shake is simply the best! Honestly is the bomb.com. It took a bit of time in between ordering and actually getting our food, but if that is what it takes to get my hands on that tasty little cheese burger, then so be it! If you've never had an in and out burger you need to. It's kind of like a bucket list thing for California visits. The burgers are thin patties with fresh lettuce,tomato,and onion. You can get it animal style with grilled onions. Yum. I like to order the fries extra crispy. The milkshakes are really good. The menu never changes. Burgers,fries,drinks,shakes. Favorite in n out because of David! He made us feel like we were at a sit down restaurant. He came and cleared the trash off our table and would walk by and ask us if he could get us anything else. This place is great. They combine good food, good service, and a team dedicated to getting you "in and out" as quick as possible. If you are coming here know that it is for a quality burger and fries. They don't do chicken strips, chicken sandwiches, or anything like that. They specialize in quality burger and fries. They have both drive thru, carry out, and dine in service. One thing I never will understand about this company is why they don't open up more locations. I have never gone to this place in the day time or night time and not had a line wrapping around the building. Don't come here expecting a quick five minute trip, this is not McDonalds, they serve quality food and you will get it as quickly as they can put it together. A tip is to do some research or talk to some people who go here a lot because they have little additions that are not on their menu. For instance if you order your fries "animal style" they come with a thousand island style dressing with some additions to it. read more

My Tip: Seriously the fastest In n Out I've ever been to. When I moved to Santee almost a year ago, I was amazed at how many food joints there were when I'd drive up & down Mission Gorge. But I would always think to myself, why wasn't there an In n Out?! So now that there is an In n Out pretty much 2 mnutes away from me, I'm not sure whether it's a good thing or just a really dangerous thing. The location is fairly new. So the cleanliness isn't an issue, well I've never really had an issue with cleanliness at any In n Out that I've been to. So just dismiss that. There's ample parking. & you honestly can't miss it. It's street front and on the corner, so you can make a crazy Fast & Furious Tokyo Drift maneuver if get the sudden Animal Style urge. Now don't get turned off by the LONG-@$$ drive thru line or the crowdedness inside. Because let's face it, what's In n Out without any of those wonderful things? BUT I will stand by my tip. This is seriously THEE FASTEST In n Out I've ever had the pleasure of eating at. The first time I went to this location (about a week after it opened) the drive-thru line wrapped around the building (to be expected). But I swear to you (Girl Scout's Honor) I was out of there with my yummy Cheese Burger with grilled onions, vanilla shake, Animal Fries, & my cute In n Out hat in ...wait for it...20 MINUTES. I was probably about 10-ish cars deep when I got there too. Now, I thought it was just because they just opened so they were on a really good one. Dave knew we were from out of town and took the time to walk us through the menu, the process of preparation, and then gave me all sorts of souvenirs to take home to my toddler.
