Before In-N-Out opened up restaurants in Arizona, stopping at one on a road trip to California was a family tradition growing up. This location in Thousand Palms is the store that I grew up stopping at on a regular basis. It was the first location that we would see after crossing the border. I have dined here countless of times since I was a youngster. When I was in high school, I would always snag a T-shirt on the way out. Even though I don't eat a lot of fast food these days, In-N-Out Burger is still my favorite. I love the simplicity of their menu and how tasty the burgers are. This In-N-Out Burger is conveniently located off the I-10 freeway. It can be a very busy store during peak hours. The restaurant itself is usually pretty clean and the service is quick. The parking can be a real pain at times. But it doesn't deter me from stopping here on road trips for some good food and a quick trip down memory lane. There is something about a Double Double animal style with fries that makes a road trip to Cali so much better. read more

The food is always fresh, the wait is surprisingly short, and the staff is incredibly friendly and welcoming. What can I say? In-N-Out is consistent in the level of service and the quality of the food. My hamburger, fries and root beer float were fantastic. I especially loved the ability to donate to fight child abuse directly from the comfort of my own car. The staff hadn't been trained on the process but with a little help from the management, they were able to accept my donation. Clean restaurant and typical friendly ambiance. The best fast food! In n out is always so consistent for fresh burgers, great service and they work hard. Even when there is a line the staff is efficient to get you a hot meal quickly. I prefer the fries well done so they are more crispy. The burgers are the highest quality fast food. If you aren't familiar with in n out there is a hidden menu that you can look up. I have only been to an In-N-Out Burger once. I am from Michigan and wanted to try it. It was a good experience overall. However, without trying more items, more times, I can say it doesn't quite match the hype. Is In-N-Out better than some of the other better chains? I can't say for sure. Normally the burgers were good, but Saturdays must be so busy they cut corners, not prices, but corners on the burgers. If you like "onion burgers" then this is for you on the weekends. To make the razor thin hamburg patty look big, they put a quarter inch or bigger slice of onion on the bun, then the razor thin patty,, and thin slices of tomato pieces, the onion making the burger appear big. All my life all I ever heard is "if you go to California you go to In-N-Out Burger". I've seen them on TV and movies and everybody loves In-N-Out burgers. So even though it took us 23 minutes out of the way, we headed straight from the airport to the closet In-N-O. I haven't been ok with fast food since my 40's for various reasons, but I'm saying if I lived out here I would be hitting this place at least once a week. I no longer support the claim that N & Out Burgers are the best. The last three times I have eaten these burgers, they have been drenched in salt, and the patties are overdone. There is little taste of meat between the salt and the overcooked patties. In fact, the aftertaste is horrid. Whatever happened to the old N and Out Burgers? The quality of beef has diminished. The meat is overcooked, and the burger is almost tasteless with the amount of salt poured into the burger. New patrons, beware. The burgers are no longer fit for human consumption.
