Thank you for moving in to my neighborhood. We have been sorely lacking a great Thai restaurant here and you fill that place beautifully. We went to dinner there tonight and it was superb. What was frustrating was that we were the only people in there (granted it was 6pm). But I kept seeing people getting out of cabs or walking all dolled up to Spitzburger next door. Great, you're going somewhere because it's trendy and they were on the Food Network but the fact is, their food is ka-ka. If you want great food, COME TO THIS RESTAURANT. My companion and I shared the pork satay appetizer which came with this amazing sauce. It is a peanut sauce but there is something sweet in there that elevates it beyond the basic peanut sauce you get everywhere else. And it's pork satay! Do you know how hard it is to find a place that serves pork satay let alone a good one?? I had the shrimp in tamarind sauce and it was magical. Never had tamarind sauce before and it was delicious (along with the shrimp, scallions, red & green pepper, and cilantro that came with it). My companion had vegetable fried rice and beef salad. The fried rice was great as was the beef salad but, be forewarned, the beef salad is more spicy than most beef salad. The people who own the place are very nice and welcoming. This is a great place, maybe the best restaurant that has moved in to this corridor. Go, go, go, please don't let this one die. Go to this place and have a great time! read more

First to say is that I love Thai food. After taking a cab home from the airport this past week and saw the advertisement for In-On and read the yelp reviews I could not wait to check out the restaurant. The atmosphere was refreshing, clean and was greeted warmly by the waitress. We ordered the flat spring rolls, pork noodle soup, chicken pad thai, and chicken see-ew. The flat spring rolls were different. Really not what we thought, not much of a taste. The soup and the see-ew was quite favorable. Let me first tell you that I am a pad thai guy! This pad thai was not really that good. Bland and I asked for it to be spicy, which it had no spice. All in all our group of 3 left saying that it was the not the best Thai we have had but really liked the clean, fresh atmosphere. read more

I've only been here once, and have only had the curries, so take this review with a pinch of salt. The curries were delicious, but watery which made it difficult to eat it with rice. I will give this place another try and will probably try something other than curry. The prices are very reasonable, and the place has potential. read more

Okay, this is my 2nd review which may not be allowed but we just brought dinner home from In-on thai and are blow away by the Sunday evening-in-front-of-the-tv dinner experience! Cure for the common cold? Possibly! I had a head cold with a bad sore throat, so I really couldn't eat anything solid. So I decided to get a couple of soups from In-On - Fish Soup in Ginger Broth & Pork Noodle Soup. Inside the homey decor hangs an official declaration from the Thai Department of Ministry of Magic (or something that looks as official) stating that this restaurant is the real thing. Anyways, back to the food. Both broths couldn't be more different, but both also are amazing at the same time. The ginger broth has the real sour(?) taste of the ginger root, and the fish is tasty too. The pork noodle broth reminds you of your childhood and is what you would want on a cold day, or when you're sick, and the noodles taste very fresh. So today, my sore throat is gone and I feel back to normal. Maybe it's coincidence, maybe not. But regardless, the food here is delicious. And you can tell there is a lot of heart and soul put in the food by talking to the owners. I mean, the name of the restaurant is named after his wife. And the master chef in the back is her mother! 5 stars for food; 4 stars for service. The service wasn't bad, it was just weird. We had plenty of water refills and plates bussed. It was almost too much. It felt like the servers were hovering over us and they didn't understand English well enough to answer any questions on the menu. But, really good thai food. read more

I had the Pad Pik Khing with tofu and it was so so good. The tofu had a wonderful texture - pillowy almost. I feel like they make their curry fresh from scratch. I am not sure what happens between placing a delivery order through Yelp and the restaurant getting the order, but something must have gone poorly because it took so incredibly long and the restaurant called at one point and it got a little confusing. Next time ill probably just call the restaurant to order delivery and then I'll know who to be mad at if it takes an hour and 45 minutes. read more

What a great addition to the area. Ate here tonight and loved it. Like many Thai places it is byob, which is always good. The restaurant is small but very cute. The owners are very nice and friendly. Most importantly, the food is great. Started with a corn fritter type appetizer and Thai beef salad. Fritters were very tasty and salad very nice -- tender beef and great dressing with a decent kick. Then we shared a chicken noodle dish and chicken massaman curry, both of which were great. Used to go to Tac Quick, but will not be going here. I hope this place makes it...my new favorite Thai in town. read more

Good little thai place in Lakeview. The menu has a few standards but also some items not on the average thai place's menu. We eat a lot of thai food and this was very good. Fish is their specialty. We had "Steamed Fish with Lime Sauce" (really good, I ate all the sauce!) and the red curry (a good amount of spicy and really good). Presentation was nice as well. I would recommend. read more

Seriously good standard Thai fare but then there's also a selection of homemade authentic thai dishes that are better than anything you'll find in Bangkok. The place is a gem. Clean, friendly, byob, cozy, and the non standard thai dishes are so good that you'll be encouraged to start ordering off the beaten path. Was recommended this place by a co-worker and it lived up! Went on a snowy Saturday afternoon and it was a cute cozy place to settle in for a spicy delicious Thai meal. Got the green bean salad which was divine - had that great fish sauce/lime/chili type dressing we are all accustomed to on papaya salads, and this dressing was perfection. Then got the In-On Thai crispy fish on their winter specials menu. Bite sized pieces of white fish glazed and topped with tons of fried basil leaves - that plate was devoured. And finally the sour bamboo curry with chicken also off the winter specials menu. If you like fermented foods (Kim chee, sauerkraut, etc) then you'll like this - it's got that sour/kinda stinky goodness. Never had a curry that had such a great curry flavor and consistency - wow! Can't wait to try more curries. Until I came to In-On Thai, I hadn't tasted what amazing curry or fish sauce/lime/chili dressing could taste like. It's a really nice place with really good food and extremely sweet people. I'm a vegetarian and we ordered the tofu with red sauce, pad Thai and the tofu with plum sauce appetizer. BEST TOFU EVER!!! Excellent food and so fresh! We had the crispy spring rolls to start which are excellent. Them being served flat surprised us at first, but they were light and tasty and not at all greasy. Our mains were the beef noodle soup which was lovely - great broth and tender beef- and the Pad-Khing which had enough ginger to make your eyes water but delicious. Service is nicely paced, if you are looking for lightening in and out service you will not get it here but the food is so fresh that it is well worth a short wait. This is going to become a staple of our neighborhood dining. read more

After traveling to Thailand in February, I've craved authentic Thai food and have been disappointed by other places here in Chicago. In on Thai is a hidden gem. Run, don't walk to check out their amazing dishes. We tried the masaman curry, green curry fried rice with shrimp, chicken satay, and egg custard for dessert.
