First, the stylist did not speak any English at all. He needed to call someone to translate. Normally this is not a problem in other businesses, but not at a hair salon where you need to be constantly communicating. I got a root perm and digital perm, but when I came out it look almost the same as before the perm. He did the root perm first and I think when he did the digital perm, he did too much neutralizer and for too long. He was doing 2 other guys hairs while he left it on for too long, even though I asked him that it's been too long. He finished cutting, shampooing, and blow drying this guy's hair while mine was getting fried. There was no sign of the root perm and my hair is now so damaged. Originally when I made the appt, he said $250 and then when I got there he said $375. I got him to bring it down to $310, and it would've been worth every penny if it came out right. Instead I paid $310 for damaged flat hair. Also, they charge extra 10% if you're using a credit card. *update: after seeing this review, they've offered me partial refund. I had great result with a Korean perm at this salon for my first time, so I returned hoping for the same experience. Unfortunately, the results were far from what I expected. I was convinced to try a perm with soft waves at the end, but instead they used rods for really tight curls which completely ruined the look that I was going for. The ends of my hair don't even have curls; they're just dry, brittle, and poofy and does not look at all like the inspiration photo I showed the stylist. I waited for a couple of weeks to see if the perm would settle, but it has not, and it actually looks worse. I've had perms before, and this by far the worst I've ever gotten. I'm pretty disappointed with the results, and I feel like I wasted time and money as this was quite an expensive service. I definitely will not be coming back to this salon. read more

It was my first time getting my hair done here. Aili was my stylist. He did an amazing job with the cut and the perm. We had some language barrier troubles, however, the owner was able to translate. Aili was very patient and understanding regarding my concerns. He is very talented and can be a perfectionist. My hair naturally has some curls but I wanted it to be more defined. We went for some long layers, curtain bangs, S and C curls, and a bonding hair shine treatment. The cost is on the $$$ but it was worth it. Overall I had a great experience. I had my hair done by Mika, she is very nice! and gives u a little snack and drink when u come in! when i showed her how I wanted my hair she went into detail about what she will do and some options she had (since i was getting layers). I picked which style I liked and got started! She washed my hair first very nicely and they have a massage chair if you prefer that. I have had a few great haircuts from InStyle salon, and I would recommend them to someone looking to get a quality haircut. Since I had already seen them a few times I decided to go back to get my hair bleached and colored there as well. I would like to start by saying the final product does look good. My original appointment time was for 4:30, and I was seen shortly after that. I had sent reference photos previously, and communicated with staff before starting my hair. After the initial bleach and coloring my hair did not look anything like I desired. It was very orange/yellow hued, but staff was willing to correct the color after my complaints. I have had my short, light hair treated a few times before and it has never taken more than 3 hours to complete the same process. Today, I was in the salon until almost 9:30. Nearly a 5 hour appointment and I was very uncomfortable by the end. While I was sitting in the chair with very wet hair, it appeared staff was all eating in the back while 4 customers sat waiting to finish their services. Based on the website and the conversation I had with staff, I expected the total to be around $250-300. I had already light hair, only needed one round of bleach, and was assured overall it should have been a very quick and easy job. So after the total came out to nearly $400 I was a bit shocked. Then staff called me out for not leaving a large enough tip (I do understand their frustration, but my appointment was long, uncomfortable, and took a lengthy process to get my desired color.) Overall, I would return for a haircut, but would most likely not return to get my hair colored again. read more

Mika did an OUTRAGEOUSLY fantastic job on my haircut. When I arrived, she gave me an ipad with two sites to choose from with various hairstyles to choose from for inspiration. Once I picked my haircut, I was taken to the hair washing station. Mika used Olaplex which is my favorite hair care brand, so it was greatly appreciated and showed she is high quality from the start! I requested a haircut, and the hair stylist cut my hair super short the cut was not flattering at all. This is the uglist hair cut I have ever received in my life, and I had to pay $65 for this haircut. It makes me look like a middle aged woman even though I am in my twenties. I also specifically told my stylist (male guy) I wanted the hair to be shorter by 1 inch, and only wanted to fix it so both sides were symmetrical. For some reason, the hair stylist insisted we already discussed the length can be half of my original length- which we did not discuss. Not sure if this is due to a language barrier or something else. I literally cannot even go outside anymore because of how hideous my hair looks and the way it frames my face is just awful. This is truly the most hideous haircut I've ever received in my life. But my recent experiences with IN Style was horrible! A month ago, I made an appointment for a hair cut at Friday afternoon 6PM. I arrived at time in 6PM, but stylish had NOT Finished his 4PM appointment yet!! The 5PM customer had been WAITING for AN HOUR! At the beginning, they just told me that I needed to wait a for a couple minutes before they finished up earlier customer. I was assuming I would be the next customer, so I WAIT there for 15 minutes. But after 15 minutes waiting, they told me that there is still another customer before me, which will need 40 minutes MORE on Waiting. So I had to reschedule to tomorrow afternoon. I came back tomorrow afternoon, and the SAME situation happen! I had to waited for 2 MORE customer to finished up! They used same the Trick again! They did not told me there are 2 more people before my turns, just said need couple minutes! I was, again, assuming I would be the next customer.The stylish even went out for a smoke while 3 people was still WAITING. At the end, I waited for another 25+ minutes before my turn. During hair cut service, the stylish was so ROUGH, PULLING, DRAGING my hair all the time and made me HURT. Cant' remember how many times I told the stylish to control his strength on my hair, but he still did! Although I had very bad experience with IN style last time. But I decided to gave them another chance, since I had been support their business for a long time. I schedule for an hair straighten service on some Saturday. They agreed. And the other day, they contact me and said they want to reschedule to Sunday because they had a wedding event appointment on Saturday. I understand wedding event is exhausted and stylish need a break, So I agree on the reschedule to Sunday. After few weeks, they contact again said they want me reschedule to Monday, which is an Weekday I had to worked! Their excuse is, they had a wedding on Sunday. But they just the same EXCUSE couple weeks ago?! It seems like this is their Normal TRICK or LIE to FOOL customer for reschedule. This Salon show NO RESPECT on customer's time and NOT showing the correct attitude on communication. They LIED to customer for their owon profit maxium purpose, NOT by commited! InStyle Salon was an unexpected discovery for us. My daughter was getting ready for an important event and her original hair appointment at another salon went all wrong. The time was very tight and there were no options left to redo her hair as most of the hair salons in our area were already closed. I frantically called around until I came across Mika's place, and even though she was already heading home for the day, she agreed to take us for an updo. Mika was so warm and welcoming, our stress levels over the situation have dropped right away. She literally put the fake eyelashes one by one, which makes a really natural look and not hurt at all, it sticks all day. It can be easily removed by makeup remover.
