I invited a friend who just came back from Taiwan. So wanted something Asian, but not Chinese. This was it! My new go to place for Ramen. Egg is my soup was on point with flavor! Almost ordered an extra but got extra broth instead. About that broth! It was full bodied, but definitely not pasty. The chili oil made even more robust and carried the soup ingredients well. We arrived about 35-40 minutes before the restaurant's posted closing time, so we expected there would still be plenty of time to order dinner. Unfortunately, from the moment we walked in, we felt unwelcome. Our waitress, Cathy, already seemed visibly annoyed while helping another table. Shortly after we were seated, she walked over and turned off the "Open" sign even though the restaurant was still supposed to be open for another 35-40 minutes. When I asked if we could have about five minutes to quickly look over the menu, Cathy told us the kitchen would be closing in 10 minutes, which made us feel rushed into ordering. We completely understand that staff may want to finish up at closing time, but customers arriving during posted business hours should still feel welcomed. We ended up leaving without ordering because we felt so rushed and uncomfortable. That was especially disappointing because the restaurant looked great, and based on the menu and reviews, the food seemed like it would have been excellent. We were really looking forward to trying it, but the service experience made us decide to leave instead. As well as the volcano roll with the deep fried crust with the fist and crab combined with the kewpie mayo and eel sauce made it crunchy and tasty. The best part was the service as the waiter who is a little bit older than the other one was amazing she joked and kept me taking even while waiting for a ride and provided me with a Japanese soda free on the house! Stopped at Osaka Ramen & Sushi in Chesapeake VA for lunch on a Friday afternoon.  It was a tad hard to find with GPS Google maps directions.  Once I found it, yay.  It is on the street side of the parking lot for Food Lion. I have to say, they must be doing something right here because when I arrived, the place was full.  6 tables and a sushi bar with 10 seats and half the bar was full as well.  I sat at the bar. They have beer and Sake options, which I thought was a plus.  The place is quite intimate, and on this occasion, the air was minimal; just enough to keep the sweat off you, but moist enough to not get cool.  On this day, it was about 84 hot and humid. There was one server, who bless her soul, was completely slammed.  She was running around like she had 6 heads and 8 arms.  She needs a raise because she handled the slam and the wait for patrons very well. If you are expecting a show at the sushi bar, this may not be the place.  The sushi chef was quiet.  He was concentrating on getting the sushi out, and it was just him, so he had to be on his A game.  The service here was quite good, despite the slam. I ordered a Kirin beer which came with a cold glass which was definitely needed. Ordered the Sushi lunch special, 3 rolls for about $16, and it was well worth it.  The sushi was good, not great, but reasonably priced and quite filling.  I could find my way back here. They had chili oil, which I mixed with the soy sauce and Wasabi for my own special dip.  It was quite delicious.  I really want to give 5 stars, but the sushi is just average, and the service was exceptional considering the circumstances.  Still, 4 stars is quite appropriate. read more

After passing the location for years, my fiance and I ventured into Osaka to try their ramen. The staff is extremely friendly and the service was top-notch. I tried the O-katsu (chicken katsu) ramen, while my fiance had the spicy tonkatsu ramen. Both were very tasty. One of my favorite parts of the dish was the soy-marinated egg. It wasn't as soft-boiled as most eggs I've had in ramen, but the flavor was unique and a surprising highlight of my meal. My least favorite part of the dish was the pork belly, which I am not a fan of in general. My fiance loved it and said it was very good though. I also noticed they serve Aqua S ice cream, but we were WAY too full after our meal. The food was so good that we stopped by the next day! I ordered dinner on yelp from Osaka using their online delivery at 5 o'clock today at 5:45 my food had still not arrived, and I discovered that it was delivered by GrubHub and they said they left it at the front door, , but I am in a rehab facility. They checked all doors and there was no delivery to be found. I called the restaurant back and they said it's not their problem and they could not refund me because it belonged to GrubHub but I ordered from Osaka as far as I was concerned so I called GrubHub and they found that it had been delivered to the wrong address and they showed a picture of the food sitting at the wrong address. Worst ramen Ive ever had. The taste is so bland and it made me feel sick after eating it.

I was craving some hot soupy noodles today after the rain, so decided to check out Osaka Ramen, hoping it would satisfy my craving. I have only been here one other time, 5 years ago, so I couldn't really remember what it tasted like. We walked in and were greeted by the friendly staff, and were told to sit wherever we preferred. Their menus are at the table already. Our server came over shortly and took our orders. I got the Osaka meat lover ramen and the tonkotsu ramen. Osaka meat lover ramen: $14.95 This broth was made with pork and chicken. It came with yellow noodles, chashu pork, ground pork, karaage, bean sprout, green onion, and soft boiled egg. The broth looked good, but it did not taste that rich. I asked if they had togarashi, but they didn't, so I added the spicy oil from our table to add flavor to it. I think adding togarashi to each table would be nice. I personally feel like my ramen tastes better with togarashi over spicy chili oil. The egg was boiled very nicely though, and the pork chashu was solid, with the perfect flavor and meaty and fatty interior. Their ground pork, however, was quite different than what I am used to. It was flavorless and looks like it had no seasonings on it. Lastly, their karaage topping was good, but a little bit on the drier side. Tonkotsu ramen: $13.95 Tonkotsu is the classic pork broth ramen. Theirs came with pork chashu, woodear, green onion, bamboo, and soft boiled egg. This broth was also just okay, and I've had better pork broths at other spots in the area. It was made with white straight noodles and again, the chashu tasted amazing. I really wish it tasted less bland though. One thing I noticed was that these ramens did not come with nori, which I am normally used to getting. I came here for a date and the atmosphere is casual and decorated nicely. Service was 5/5 and our server checked on us every once in a while without being overly attentive. I was not expecting that much, because I knew it wouldn't be a super authentic spot. However, for $14-15 per bowl, I was hoping it would satisfy my cravings. I always love ordering their ramen because the chashu literally melts in your mouth and the noodles are nice and chewy Hakata-style. The soup is light but still has good depth and great mouthfeel. Was really excited to try this place based on reviews, and unfortunately was disappointed. Coming in, I was told to seat wherever I wanted, and no wait was nice. They did have a lot of to-go orders going out. We got the Japanese fried chicken app, which was okay, but didn't have enough dipping sauce and was very dry. It did have a nice crisp. I got the Tokyo ramen and was very underwhelmed. The reason I get ramen is because it is so flavorful, and this was not- broth lacked flavor and was very watery, and the chicken was dry and flavorless. My husband got a sushi roll with crab, eel and avocado, which was decent. Overall, if we go back, I'll probably skip the ramen and just get sushi... for a $70 meal, I'll probably try somewhere else read more

This location came highly recommended, but I was disappointed that the gyoza that was served, it was served a bit cold on the outside and inside. The ramen was spot-on for each bowl. Being very familiar with Japanese flavors in Okinawa and Tokyo, locally I think this is ranked pretty high in comparison. Tasting both white and yellow noodles or noods, next time I think I'll taste another ramen, but with white noods and extra meat. The flavor on the grilled pork was some of the absolute best I've tasted in a ramen bowl. The shrimp was good, but the sauce made it better. Yakitori (grilled chicken) was delicious as well with awesome Japanese/Asian flavors. Our waitress was awesome, served our food as soon as it was done. Refills were done before we finished a cup. New orders were being served just as fast as we gave them. Couldn't ask for better service. I was in the area and craving ramen! I have tried the Osaka Ramen & Sushi on Monarch Way near ODU and didn't know they had another location. I came in with my boyfriend on Monday at around 6pm. Our server was named Autumn and she was polite, quick, and gave us excellent service. We started off with the Pokey Nachos. The nachos came out fast and we had fresh flavors from the ahi tuna, avocados and sesame oil seasonings. The only set back were the actual chips. I am used to pokey nachos using deep fried wonton chips, but these were regular thick tortilla chips that threw the flavors off. For the ramen, we ordered the Osaka Meat Lovers And Tonkatsu Ramen bowls. Both were flavorful and I liked how the pork chasu was seared perfectly to melt in your mouth. The eggs were perfectly soft boiled and the ratio of broth, noodles, and toppings were portioned well for each bowl. Definitely my go to ramen restaurant when I have my ramen cravings! read more

The spicy tongkatsu broth and egg are both spot-on, though! The place has a very good ambiance. It is packed, but no wait time, for a Monday night so we took it as a good sign that this restaurant will give us good experience. We ordered Takoyaki for our appetizer and Volcano Roll, Seafood Ramen and Meat Lover ramen for our entree. I was surprised on how much rolls are in the volcano roll. For less than $6, we think it is a good deal. The Seafood Ramen was very unusual because the seafood is served fried, like a tempura. It was very rich an delicious. My SO enjoyed his Meat Lover ramen as well. Even though the place is packed, the service was really good. Our server was very friendly and helpful. The samurai sushi roll wasn't tightly rolled and not easy to hold with chop sticks, but the crab and salmon were fresh with fresh ginger and wasabi making the flavors come alive. Would recommend you bring your own black vinegar they don't have it, no one does I guess. This past Saturday night we arrived about 7pm and the restaurant wasn't busy at all. Well the restaurant is petite and the low lighting sets an intimate tone... I loved it!! We were immediately greeted once we stepped in... oh, parking wasn't an issue at all. We actually pulled into a space directly in front of the restaurant's door. There was a table of two dining when we sat down... the waitress was friendly and pleasant from her greeting to her 'have a good night' - just a fun time. We placed our order and within 10 mins or less we were ready to dine. The presentation, the smell, the temperature, everything was impeccable! I am super ready to return again and again. Check out this place if you are in the area, I highly believe you will be pleasantly surprised at this hidden gem in Chesapeake.
