We made a reservation for Friday evening for hibachi. The restaurant is not very noticeable on the outside and keep in mind that it is street parking or you could make a costly mistake parking in the nearby lots. Once you enter you will see the decor is very nice and clean. We were assisted by the hostess to our hibachi table. There is always a staff person coming to check in, clean up, and offer assistance which is nice. They are all very friendly and helpful. The food and drink menus were larger than I expected and it was nice to have so many choices. The chef double checked on our meal selections and verified that there were no food allergies among our group. Everything tasted wonderful and just like everyone else, the chef was very nice and helpful. I will definitely come back again and this time I will try some sushi. read more

This place has been there since I lived in VS, many years ago, so I gave it 2 stars cause I did not want to throw them under the bus. BUT......... We were there last night, and it was bad. The entrance area looks like the place has been closed for 1 year. We did hibachi, and the waitress with glasses was very good. We ordered sushi as an app. They were out of the fish we wanted, so we only had a roll. It's sad how little fish was in this thing. The Tempura was very good. Hibachi Time. We were given 3 sauces with NO explanation on what they are, their flavors, or what to do with them. 100% of what we ate was a 5 or less. Just the lowest quality of ingredients, and everything tasted the same. We ate maybe 15% of the Habachi Food. I will never be going back, and wish I had not gone. read more

3.7 stars Having heard a lot of very positive reviews about this place, particularly mentioning it as a hidden gem, I was very excited to dine at this restaurant. Upon arrival, we were greeted by pleasant staff who were quick to seat us and take our drink orders. This isn't a particularly fancy restaurant by any stretch, but it did feel clean and adequate certainly appropriate for a more casual vibe with children. The chef was incredibly kind and engaging, and we had the fortune of being seated with a funny family celebrating a special occasion. Onto the food. The food overall was good perhaps it could've used some more salt or seasoning in general, but the food overall was not bad and the portions were more than adequate. More than anything, my rating had a lot more to do with the value proposition; with some drinks and one appetizer including tip our bill came out to about $170. **** MILESTONE 1,000th YELP REVIEW **** Inatome is a classic - my cousin's husband turned me onto this place in the 90s when it was strictly a hibachi (teppanyaki) spot and I've been a handful of times. In recent years my buddy Gordon Y has probably told me every time I saw him that I have to check out the Omakase here. My bad, I slept on it for a while, until he finally texted me to join a group dinner on a recent Friday night where we took over the entire Sushi bar. I waited a bit to write this to make this my SPECTACULAR 1,000th YELP REVIEW EXTRAVANGAZA! (cue the music, dancers and fireworks.. wooot woot!) Unfortunately my writing is probably not going to do this milestone review or Inatome's omakase justice because simply put it was fantastic. The beautiful cuts of fish with little embellishment, well made rice, the friendly service and comfortable vibe all with a Sapporo draft in hand... and just $85 to boot! (incredibly, only slightly up from $65 when Gordon wrote his review in 2020) This is certainly my idea of a perfect night. The dinner was a long one, very leisurely, with ~18 courses spread through the night. I asked Gordon a couple of times if this is typical and he insisted that it is. We did get some special treatment - since Gordon nearly makes this his second home - by way of a bowl of tender delicious beef tendon (something they have on hand thanks to all the hibachi they serve). It doesn't make too much sense to comment on the specific fish we were served (since it tends to change with what is best available) but it was a wide variety (see pics) I was extremely impressed with the quality, deliciousness and respectable cuts. For example, I appreciated the way Chef Nobu informed us that chutoro was a bit sinew-y to him, but he made cuts in the fish for a better mouth feel and to improve the flavor - it worked. If this all sounds like something you need in your life then I suggest you make a reservation this summer. My understanding is Chef Nobu may be moving on shortly (Don't worry the omakase will continue with the same quality and skill under a different sushi chef). This is one of the most fantastic Sushi deals in and around NYC where it is getting increasingly more difficult to find reasonable Omakase that is worth your time and money. 5 stars for their Omakase Dinner service at the Sushi Bar counter. Chef Nobu was our Sushi Chef for the evening. He was very friendly and hard at work the whole evening prepping each course. It's literally the best value in town for an omakase dinner. Twelve courses at a value price -- be sure to make a reservation! The group I was with reserved and occupied all of the seats at the bar so it was an intimate dinner for 8! Thanks to my Yelp friend Gordon Y. for suggesting and planning. The sake options, martini combos, and Japanese IPA beers were all excellent. The classic hot green tea was a perfect compliment to each course. We started off with a very appetizing salad tasting, included spicy salmon over a toasted rice cracker, a mini cucumber salad with bean sprouts and topped with fried chili slivers. Even the radish as garnish was edible and beautiful. Omakase courses: first up, the Shishamo tempura (Hokkaido smelt) served with wasabi salt was a new taste for me. Never had wasabi salt before and it was amazing. I need a jar of that! Next few courses: Tai fish (red seabream), black sea cream with lean Bluefin tuna, followed by a rare and fatty tuna (which the chef painstakingly removed the sinew and tendon from each piece, known as hagashi toro. Then we had: the signature Shime Saba mackeral with lotus root and shiso leaf. Loved! There was a shrimp (ebi) with crab tamale (and miso paste) which I'm allergic to but they substituted my piece with toro and a portion of fried squid. Both were delicious. Continued with the amberjack (yellowtail), salmon belly with spicy yuzu pepper (totally recommend), and a personal favorite, uni from Maine, served with a shiso leaf (it was sweet and creamy). There was a second mackeral course, this time it was Sawara, a Spanish mackerel served with a garlic crisp and daikon radish. And a third mackerel course, Aji (horse mackerel) with scallions. A surprise dish added into the tasting, for a supplemental cost, the beef tendon. This was so tender and so delectable!! You must try it! Followed by a piece of hotate (scallop) which was lightly seared. And a piece of ika sushi (squid). We had a sushi break and each received a bowl of mushroom soup. By this time, I was really getting full. Then the last two courses from the sushi bar, chopped toro with scallions, tukuan, with radish and ikura, ended by a combination plating of the tamago (Egg omelet) and unagi (grilled eel). We finished the meal with a choice of dessert: assorted flavor ice creams - so many options! I recommend the hojicha and green tea. We made a reservation for 8 people (full sushi counter, could squeeze in a 9th) for omakase. It does get noisy since the bar is not really closed off, and you can hear the sound of the hibachi. Plan your seating accordingly, because the ends of the counter will not be able to converse. For the nigiri, the rice held together well, and was well seasoned. The fish were fresh. We got: -Ankimo: love the saltiness from the seaweed and brightness from the lemon. Not as creamy as I like, but good flavor. -Vegetable and Cod Tempura with Wasabi Salt: Great batter to filling ratio. The batter was crisp. The wasabi salt reminded me of wasabi peas, so you definitely get a kick but not overly strong. -Sea Bream: topped with lemon and salt. -Black Sea Bass: was seaweed marinated, which amped up the oceany flavor . -Bluefin Tuna: great texture. -Fatty Tuna: also great texture, can tell the difference in fattiness. -Mackerel: mixed with shiso leaf, beet marinate lotus, sesame seeds. Overall balanced flavors. -Rainbow Runner: I hadn't heard of this before! -Botan Shrimp: slight char, great texture and sweetness. One of my favorite seafood. -Uni: creamy, lighter in flavor. -Fried Shrimp Head: crisp and unique! -Salmon Belly: with kosho, perfectly lightly charred. -Horse Mackerel: topped with grated daikon marinated in yuzu. -Scallop: lightly charred like the salmon belly, I think I'd like it better not charred, but that's personal preference. -Beef Tendon: this was extra. It was super tender, and reminded me of Korean beef soup. -Bonito: topped with garlic chip. -Squid: paired with a shiso leaf. I would have preferred without the shiso, as it overpowers the squid. -Salmon Roe, Tuna and Pickled Daikon Handroll: love the crunch of the daikon! -Eel and Tamago: the eel was a softer texture than I like, it has a good amount of eel sauce. The tamago had a lovely eggy sweetness, and I can really taste the mirin. It was a bit cold. -Dashi Soup with Shiitake: there was a hint of yuzu, and I would have preferred it without it. Have to let the dashi and mushrooms shine! -Ice cream (vanilla chocolate pistachio orange sherbet hojicha red bean green tea): I went with hojicha. It was a little too sweet for me. I do wish the pacing was a bit quicker. It was 3 hours total for us, wish it was closer to 2 hours. Good spot for sushi, and hibachi, at the price point. Took a while to settle on something, but I eventually went for the black cod platter from the Japanese segment of the menu. They had a fantastic happy hour special of $4 Sapporo drafts served in an ice cold mug. Some other intriguing specials too, but I wasn't gonna pass on half priced beers. Probably the best happy hour deal I've encountered in a while. Platter included two appetizer course. First was a miso soup and second was a small salad. The main course was a platter which included a few pieces of cod, a variety of tempura, cooked tuna, chicken meatballs, a small plate of pickled items, and rice. Lots of variety. Service was very attentive. The cleared our table quickly and stopped by to refill water frequently. Food came out fast too. Hidden gem alert!! Our friend knows the owner and arranged for a special OFF MENU omakase dinner here and it was amazing!! If you are coming here just for hibachi, you are missing out! There were so many more dishes, but Yelp only allows 10 pictures! This was by far the best Omakase experience I've ever had! Chef Nobu explained every piece. I don't normally like mackerel or Uni, because I find them generally too strong flavored. I gave it a try and I'm so glad that I did. I have become a convert! I'm used to dousing sushi in soy sauce but you didn't need it for most of these pieces. I'm almost afraid to leave this review as there's a limited number of seats at the sushi bar... It looks like they have hibachi here as well which I'm sure is good, but the winner is the Omakase. A lot of sushi restaurants are not serviced by Japanese. This is the real deal! The hibachi show nonexistent I don't know who trained these employees or who told them to act like this, but this is unacceptable and the Japanese culture and I am ashamed as a Japanese American. I ran a hibachi shop for 20 years and they should not be acted like this. This is an insult to our culture and anyone who wants to be there. They're the people's hats they're not even the real Japanese hats and it took us 45 minutes to even get a person terrible and I hope that they really explained it more cause they should have a lot of a potential. Love the ambiance of this restaurant. As my friend said, they do a great job of embodying the theme of Japan. This goes for the decor indoors as well as outdoors (it's dim in my pics, but they have a cute artificial pond, and the architecture gives you a feel of being in Japan). You get a variety of dishes in your order. With my chicken katsu dinner, I enjoyed potato salad, fried rice, and soup and salad with my chicken katsu. I had a lot leftover to take home (my fault, for having a late lunch prior, but that's another story). I was happy to have delicious foods to enjoy for later, but I realized later that they didn't pack my katsu sauce! :( Well, it's tasty regardless - the sauce just enhances the chicken. Like I said, love the ambiance - it's overall a serene place for a delicious meal. There were a few times, though, that unattended little kids were running through the restaurant, and I wish an employee did something about this. Thankfully no one was bumped into or hurt, but that stomping noise was a bit disturbing. I recently came here for a celebratory hibachi dinner with a large group and I already know that I will be back. This was the most seasoned hibachi meal that I have ever had and the only hibachi meal that I have had that used sesame seeds and tomato as garnishes. The flavor was further enhanced by the generous amounts of butter and hoisin sauce used in the preparation of the entrees. And I have to point out that the steak is prepared to your liking which meant I wasn't forced to eat any dry overcooked beef. Shoutout to our second chef (Patricio) for turning our frowns into smiles. Our first cook was new, didn't interact with anyone at the table and burnt the shrimp. Part of the reason that one comes to have a hibachi dinner is to be entertained and they really shouldn't be hiring any shy hibachi cooks. I won't be volunteering to have food thrown at my face but I need the onion volcano and beating fried rice heart to done at least. I would recommend that you set your GPS and head on over to this gem in the cut. I would also recommend that you request the most entertaining cook. read more

There is almost absolutely nothing bad about this restaurant. My Uncle insisted on coming here for months and we kept putting it off until we could no longer. I'm sorry I had to experience this months later but in many ways makes me appreciate how good the sushi is. Disclaimer: our experience is the omakase experience. Chef Nobu is an expert at sushi/sashimi preparation. He would ask you for your dietary restrictions and would happily accommodate. At this time I'm not eating rice and he just gave me sashimi pieces which was appreciated. My wife does not like mackarel because of the fishyness flavor and he took that into consideration. He put mackarel on our plate anyway (with his own twist) and strongly suggested for her to try it. With much apprehension, she did and she was blown away at how good it was. In short, almost everything was perfect. My one gripe is their cork fee. We brought a bottle to share with everyone, including the chef and hostess...and we were still charged a $40 cork fee. I absolutely hate cork fees and on a $700 bill...they should've waived this ridiculous fee in my opinion. read more

The Hibachi food comes with friend rice...nice? no, apparently, friend rice at this place is white rice and soy sauce, if you want an egg in there its another $2. The broccoli was clearly frozen and was more like broccoli paste. everything was over cooked so bad that the cook burnt our food and the hibachi table. They only have 3 ingredients, salt, pepper, and soy sauce on everything. When I asked for a little bit of garlic, I was told this is Japanese food not Chinese. When I asked the chef to not over cook the rest of the food, he smiled and asked if I'm a cook, then proceeded to talk about me in Spanish to other Spanish speaking individuals. We ordered our steak medium rare so he cooked it on the cool side of the table, resulting in poached steak. the highlight of our meal was a perfectly seared slice of tomato. its funny to me since they know how to sear a tomato but not a steak. read more

The most beautiful and delicious omakase I've ever had on Long Island. Honestly one of the best I've had in New York! The amount of detail that was put into each and every piece made by chefs Hiroki and Nobu was insane. Each dish was filled with flavor and the omakase almost felt endless. My family was extremely full after all 15 courses. I absolutely loved the Scallop, Salmon Belly, Hokkaido Uni, and Aji. The Tuna Hand roll at the end was the perfect way to finish before the Shiitake Mushroom Soup and Tamago! Don't skip out on the specialty drinks made by Emily! They are so delicious. My favorites were the Yonaguni and the Yuzu Martini. The flavors were perfect. If you're not a fan of cocktails, order some sake! The Hoji Ice Cream at the end of the meal was so flavorful! So I was a HUGE fan of their ramen , I finally had a Thursday off so I was excited to get a bowl but alas the no longer sell it and it wasn't taken off the online menu. I'm glad I decided to try The udon clay pot soup because it was delicious (So much so that I didn't take a picture). The prices are very reasonable. There's lots of parking in the lot next door. There are limited hours (opens at 5pm) I wish they also had a lunch menu. I was disappointed that most of the staff don't wear masks (this is common in Valley Stream) and because of this I doubt that I'll be back to dine in. read more

I heard about this place from reading a Yelp review from a fellow Yelper and I had it bookmarked for maybe one year. I've had quite a few Omakase over the years in Manhattan. I was on an extensive search for sushi in Long Island that could match the quality I would get in Manhattan. Inatome is legit and has authentic sushi. The omakase here is top notch quality, some as sourced from places like Japan and Hawaii. Also I love Chef Nobu, he was very entertaining and easy to talk to, explained each item as he served our sushi and just a nice guy overall. I highly doubt there is anyone in Long Island that can match the quality and value that your going to receive here. Also the drinks were amazing as well, drinks were made extremely well and wasn't weak. Drinks were outstanding. Inatome was a cool space for a hibachi experience. The entrance steals the show more than anything else. The servers were attentive and always asked if we needed anything, but forgot a couple of things from our order and we had to ask before they were brought to our table. The decor is typical Japanese flair, with bamboo trimmings on the walls, and personal tables in the front, hibachi grill in the back. There is also a sushi table stationed to the right as you enter, which is great for raw lovers. We took a private table, ordered sushi and sashimi, along with other items from the hibachi menu which gets brought to your table sizzling. The sushi was pretty good, from the California to the shrimp rolls, they were all pretty good. The hibachi options? Not so much. the worst meal ever used to be my favorite place scallops were very fishy. Shrimp tasted like iodine vegetables, mushy rice, and the fried rice wasn't fried what a waste of money I brag about this place brought my friend here and was so embarrassed and everything that sucked they gave us a 15% discount. Your transported to a Japanese garden as soon as you step foot in front of this restaurant. Love the ambiance. We came to inatome for Father's Day to try their omakase. Now it didn't knock my socks off but it was good pro ably also didn't help we were right next to the bathroom. The service though was great! The chef was very kind and the wait staff was attentive. In addition to the chef sushi selections you get a tempura appetizer which the waitress told us was a mix of vegetables and scallops. There wasn't a singular scallop. We also got these pickled vegetables. It wasn't for me but my dad enjoyed it. The chef fish selections weren't by any means bad. I've just had better. The uni, squid, and the Handroll were my favorites. And the end of the meal you also get clear mushroom soup and some ice cream. The soup and ice cream were really good and they have a few flavors to choose from. The place is handiaccesible. Love to see it . It was packed in there though. Maybe the rolls are where it's at? We also had to get cocktails cause Father's Day. I got a lychee margarita, it just tasted like store bought margarita mix. My sister got some vodka and blueberry casis drink and my dad got the tropical mix. Those were both very good. Five stars! What a secret gem in Long Island. A fellow Yelper recommended this place during and yelp elite event. And it did not disappoint. Each piece was super fresh and very large compared to kamikaze spots in the city. I won't bother reviewing every piece since so many reviews have already done so. It's absolutely the best Omakase in Long Island. The Sushi Chef Hiroki served us a beautiful dinner. Every piece was so flavorful. You don't even need soy sauce. Just experience it as is. We had 15 courses including two kitchen dishes. The tempura was just so perfect. Crispy yet moist inside. The Japanese Hokkaido Uni is always my favorite. The Sweet Shrimp Sushi and Fried Shrimp Head is so delicious. The Aji, Squid, Mackerel, Unagi....all fresh and very tasty. The final Ikura hand roll was so so good. Even the seaweed taste so special. Love the decor with bamboo. If you have never been to Inatome, you're missing an amazing omakase sushi bar experience. read more
