Run, don't walk! This is beyond amazing. The chefs are a great team. They are skilled and trained. These are REAL Japanese sushi chefs. This is not an ayce type place. I have been here for the hibachi and regular dining several times and it was great, but this review is strictly for the omakase. We made last minute reservations for 2 people at 7pm on a Saturday and they luckily had room at the sushi bar for us. I highly recommend making advanced reservations though! The bar itself is small and only has room for 8 seats total. Chef Hiroshi and Nobu were amazing! Very friendly and made sure we were enjoying our meal throughout the night. We loved every single piece that was served to us. The fish was very fresh and melted in our mouths. My picky bf even liked the uni and he usually dislikes it. We had 16 pieces for $75 each, which is a very affordable price for such high quality fish. We left very happy and cannot wait to go back. I come here a lot, and realized this visit that I never review it. Shame because most times I come, I enjoy myself A TON. Today, the meat wasn't as seasoned, but it sure was tender. I normally get the seafood Hibachi combination dinner, which is lobster, shrimp, and scallops. Delicious. It's a perfect portion for a reasonable price. Most single protein dinners are about $26-$29 and the combinations are $35-$40. It comes with miso soup and salad. I got the Lemon Drop Martini. I almost got 2 of them. A friend wanted some sushi in the Valley Stream area and never been to Inatome Hibachi and Sushi Place. It is off the path and you can easily miss it if you don't know where to find the place. It is low key near an intersection and dimly lit. The outside resembles a little like a Japanese garden to a lesser degree. The also setup small chairs and tables in case you want outdoor seating. Once you enter, you go up a small stairs that hooks left and you can see how large this establishment is. They have quite a few Hibachi tables and the place was at capacity for large families. They also supply these large rigid plastic barriers to separate the groups from each other. They also have regular tables If you only want sushi and not Hibachi. They also have a small sushi bar were you can watch them prepare sushi and dine there as well. We sat in the rear right of the restaurant where these were the only seats available. We were 2 and 2 who sat across on the far side of the Hibachi table. Plenty of social distancing there. The only table open was then filled with a group of 6 friends. The host who greeted us prior to seating had asked if we had made reservations. I had looked online but did not see a reservation area. He said people call to make them. We tried to joke with the owner whonseems like a quiet person, bit it seemed he did not like my banter and looked mad and walked away. He was nice enough to say thank you, goodnight and stay safe when we finished dining though. I did not take it wrong from the beginning anyway. There was a nice waitress, Hispanic who came to take our order. She was very pleasant. Ordered a Nigori Sake and a lychee martini. The sake was not sweet but perfect for me. The lychee martini was well made. You can tell by the organization of the place, the owner pays attention to details. We ordered a couple of yellowtail sashimi which were cut perfectly! Also they had Uni (Sea Urchin) from both California and Japan. Again, you see the detail that goes into the prep when they arrived. The Cali Uni was leaning towards the browner side. You can see in the pictures I sent up. The Cali Uni was also slightly more firmer the the Japanese Uni. The Japanese Uni was like butter!! Omg, it was so darn good and flavorful. My friend tried Uni for the 1st time and really enjoyed them. We decided to get mixed Hibachi dinners. I went all seafood, Shrimo, lobster and scallops while my friend went chicken and scallops. We were sharing anyway. They 1st came with the myabi soup, the clear Japanese onion soup. Afterwards, the salad with the ginger dressing. After we finished our appetizers and starters, the Hibachi chef arrived. He was a quiet friendly person. I was slightly disappointed he did not make the traditional onion volcano bit it was ok. He maybe in learning mode. He was fine handling the food and slicing. He did a nice job overall and was made us laugh a few times. He also tried to flip smallnpieces of broccoli to everyone sitting and we gave him a few bucks for his performance. He did do a small drum type play after which was cute. Again, the quality is amazing. The staff is really attentive and nice. Youbwill always have a great meal and time ar Inatome. If you enjoy hibachi or sushi this spot is a must try. I'm a huge fan of aesthetics and Inatome has done a great job with the design of their restaurant. The outside and inside look amazing! The restaurant is clean and the staff are friendly. The food was great and the portions were just right. I had the hibachi chicken and shrimp. The chicken was over cooked, so it was so hard to chew but the shrimps were perfect. The veggies were cooked well not too soggy or too hard. The dumplings were good, but a bit on the salty side. The star of the show were the drinks. Whoever the bartender was that night needs a raise. I'll be coming back at the same time just to make sure I get the drinks made by that bartender! This place is crazy good for omakase and hibachi. Meaning their omakase is good also means that their sushi and sashimi are super great quality. I know the owner and he's Japanese as well as the chefs so this is about authentic as it can get. Everything is so delicious from the drinks to the food. There isn't anything they haven't perfected. First time at Inatome. Sat at Hibachi table. Food was delicious and great portions. Would come back next time I'm in town.

Pros: - This restaurant has been meticulously kept up, appearance-wise. The rock garden was. cared for and the interior was calming despite the crowds. - Didn't walk out of here reeking of soy sauce and fried food. Grills appeared to operate smokeless. - Dressings, sauces, etc were all delicious. - Yuuuge portions. Come hungry. - Chef understands food safety and checks items with a meat thermometer. The Purell-toting germophobe in me appreciates that the meat is cooked to the ideal temperature. - After the chef finished each section of the meal he offered us all the last tidbits, including the much coveted burnt/crunchy rice. Mmm! - Chef takes his time cooking every dish individually, unless others in your party are eating the same item. Cons: - Service was friendly, but often spotty. It was a busy Friday night so that's at least understandable. - No egg or veggies in the fried rice? Huh, is this an americanized thing that this suburban girl is used to? The fried rice was simply soy sauce and rice. Blah. I need flavor! - Chicken and lobster were overcooked, however the dipping sauces laid out for us still complimented the meat. - Good luck finding parking. Carpool with friends if you can! If you don't have friends, walk! - D'awe no onion volcano and sake shots at the table? Stupid, I know, but fun with the right crowd! No tricks performed here except for grill beats with funky hammers (that the chef dropped, whoops!). - Menu indicated ice cream or sherbet dessert with hibachi dinners. No dessert came (?). I enjoyed time spent with friends here, sharing food and bad jokes all night so I'm drawn down the middle. Inatome is a great place for a large group that employs a smiley staff that won't rush you, even when folks are packed in like a sardine can. They also offer more variety on the menu than the competition. However, much of the food was underseasoned. Certainly soy sauce and butter impart a savory taste on most things, but they could have used other flavors. Mirin? Pepper? Sake? Perhaps I'm just picky - - this place has been around longer than I've been alive so I suppose they must be doing something right. read more

I love this restaurant! It is one of the only authentic Japanese restaurants on the south shore! However, I have ordered from them several times in the last 10 years. And 50% of the time they get my order wrong. In person, and for takeout! I've ordered food from the menu and staff members have said "we don't have that here" ‍. I have asked the servers questions about the food, and they are absolutely clueless. I have asked for spicy Mayo or wasabi Mayo on the side. They never do it. And lastly, they have had the same 6 rolls on their speciality menu list for almost a decade! Yes even authentic sushi restaurants have inventive rolls now. Look at any restaurant in port Washington, Torigo, Hana, Masaaki, etc. They have creative sushi rolls, and they also have the staples like chicken teriyaki and bento boxes This place has none of the above. read more

We were a party of three with varied tastes and the large menu had more than enough selection to make everyone happy. The entrance to the restaurant was a beautifully manicured garden with a nice Japanese vibe that will raise you spirits even before you get in the door. The staff was wonderful and accommodating as it was our first time and they were very welcoming and warm. The atmosphere inside was beautiful with a relaxed Asian feeling. I will come again and you should enjoy this place as you can. Only one caveat, I felt that the sushi fish portions were smaller than I like, that's why I only gave four of five stars. It may not make much difference to you but that's the real focus here, at least for me. This is only an issue because the prices are slightly high for this quality of sushi. The staff is amazing and the food speaks for itself. The building and interior is designed like you are in Japan. Sit by the bar and let the chef take care of the menu. Visit Date: December 6, 2019 My job decided to have a Christmas party here so hubs and I went on a date to my holiday party while MIL watched our son. We chose our meal option from a special party menu and we paid ahead for the meals. The nice thing was the party leader negotiated the initial $1 soda charge and got them to include soda for free for us. I drink diet soda once in awhile so I had a diet coke at the party. I didn't mind the food, I wouldn't say it was great but I wouldn't say it was terrible either but my hubs didn't like the food at all. I am gluten free and the staff was super attentive and super accommodating about my gluten issue and I always appreciate a place that does that. Our hibachi chef didn't put on much of a show, I didn't know if it was our chef or if Inatome needs to upgrade their hibachi shows. The design of the place was interesting. The sign said they've been around since 1975 and the restaurant still had that 1970s era architecture and design. It was interesting to look at. I really wanted to like this place. I really did. It has so much potential, but it fails on several fronts. I've been to Inatome 3 times since COVID. They have a lovely garden outside that is a pleasant experience to be in. The interior is really nice (esp for Valley Stream) and they have a decent looking sushi bar. My last time here was for my moms birthday (9 guests) and we sat at the hibachi table. The waiter was absolutely awful. First, I told him that I had a food allergy to shrimp and lobster and proceeded to order a sushi appetizer. He (for god knows what reason) is unaware of sushi being an appetizer on the menu (it's literally the first app). But OK, once my beautiful wife points it out, he finally types it into his iPad. Almost everyone got a hibachi dinner of some kind. Drinks come out, we got some hot sake and draft Sapporo, life is good. Then, sushi comes out and staring at me is a massive shrimp... DID THIS GUY FORGET THAT I WAS ALLERGIC!? I'm not trying to be a jerk so I just gave it to some other members at my table. Only 4 pieces and from what I was told it was "nothing special" so I'm OK Hibachi chef comes out, seems like a nice enough guy. Before he starts cooking I let him know I have a shrimp allergy (just to be safe). He looks at me like I'm speaking a different language. Clearly my waiter didn't inform him and all of the seafood (my beautiful wife and I both got scallops) was mixed. Mildly infuriating since it was now the second time that shrimp was present in my meal... I wish it ended there and I could say the meal was prepared lovely, it wasn't. It was horrible. First, the first thing this chef makes is a GRILLED TOMATO. What??? Why!?? Second, broccoli (it was pretty great) and starts to do the hibachi thing where people try to catch it. Third, he starts cooking vegetables, then chicken, then scallops. I'm thinking, seems weird he's not making fried rice since literally everyone got it. Scallops: thin and dry and coated with soy sauce Chicken: I'm told texture wasn't pretty good but again, coated with soy sauce Rice finishes when I'm 3/4 done with my scallops. It's meh. Veggies are now pulled off the grill and dryer than dry... Then my man starts cooking the biggest pile of BEANSPROUTS I've ever seen. Like what???? Then mushrooms (meh) then the shrimp (which was dry like jerky and smothered in lemon juice, per my family) Throughout this entire process there is no show and no seasoning (other than soy sauce) in any of the food. Clearly the chef is a rookie and I'm not even sure I can call him a chef. I wanted to go up there myself and start cooking my meal because he just ruined all of it. It was so disappointing. My sister told the waiter it was my moms birthday, we waited for 10 mins after our meal and they gave us 1 scoop of vanilla ice cream and banged on the grill and sang Happy Birthday. It was incredibly awkward since the dumb*** waiter who forgot about my allergy was doing the singing. Overall I can't say I'll be coming back. I really wanted to like this place and gave it so many chances. The fact that I could've had an allergic reaction (twice) and the fact that the food is incredibly subpar for what you can get in the area (great options in Hewlett and RVC) is just incredibly disappointing. I give it 2 stars for the really nice interior and exterior tea garden but the food is just not worth the $ and fact that waitstaff "forgot to tell the kitchen" about a food allergy is inexcusable. I understand there is a labor shortage and maybe this chef was recently hired but I have to tell the honest truth about my experience. If this restaurant wants a fighting chance at being a truly GREAT restaurant (which it has the chance of doing) hire better chefs and get rid of the bad ones. read more

It was Thursday night and we were craving some Japanese cuisine so we chose this on the app and omgosh, what a delight. The star was the Shrimp and Filet Mignon Dinner, cooked to perfection, we had to cut more lemons to sprinkle on all the delicious hibachi onions (truly delectable) and broccoli, and the steak was incredibly tender and good quality, shrimp was perfect. Pricey plate (but worth it) I wish we ordered two as I got the spicy salmon and also tuna roll which were okay but not as good as the V.S Supreme Roll which had an incredible crunch on the outside. The house salad with the ginger dressing was delicious so glad we got two, one with the steak order, can't wait to try this place again, really good stuff! I say go for the fancier stuff and order basic rolls elsewhere. read more

I've been coming here for years and was so excited to go after moving away for some time and I could not be more disappointed. Our chef didn't come till over an hour after ordering our meal. So ive been checking this place out for years. I iust never got the chance to go. I finally made reservations and went. When you arrive pls know there is parking, its a specific lot used for that but i couldnt find it and i eventually found street parking. Also this is in the cut ( like its not on a main strip) so its a nice intimate spot. I entered and noticed everyone was masked up and hand sanitizer and gloves all around. Very safe. They seat me at the hibachi table and its still family style but with glass partitions separating the guests and chef. The food was good . Ive had better steak cuts, their lychee martini were amazing . I really liked the show the chef gave us . The food was amazing, i did not have sushi this time around but there's always a next time. I love this place bcas they me a variation of vegetables that I would consider should be included in a Japanese meal. Most Habachi spot doesn't give you red bean sprouts or mushrooms. I had zucchini with onions and tomatoes. I forgot to ask for lo mein. The rice could have been a little softer. There was no egg but that's my fault for not realizing, I was in a rush to order. They are super at customer service so I will definitely be back. The ambiance of the restaurant is what drew me there in the first place. The decor was nice. You must have your whole party with you in order to be seated for the show; however, there isn't a show at all. The chef is purely cooking in front of you. That's it and that's all. The food was very mediocre. The sauces that they gave were so thin and watery. The meat had no seasoning at all. The drinks came in very small glasses filled with ice, so I would be wary if ordering a cocktail. My suggestion would be beer or soft drinks. That's more worth the money. It was very quiet and not that much customers inside. Therefore, I couldn't understand why the wait staff wasn't more attentive. No one really checked in on us especially when gratuity is automatically added. I don't believe that even deserved such a large tip. Lastly, you have to pay for dessert. I'm used to getting a free ice cream or orange slices. Here you pay for more than you receive. read more

The food was delicious overall, but they used an absurd amount of wasabi with each piece of sushi. With the first piece, I didn't realize and practically couldn't breathe. Other than this, the food and the service was amazing, but the wait time for the food to get here took quite a while. I then ordered a extra uni sashimi a la carte and it took a whole 20 minutes to make. I started to wonder how it took 20 minutes to take the uni out, put it on the plate, then take it out. I went here yesterday (7/17/18) for the first time. The decor instead is beautiful although from the outside I would have not expected it. The wait was very long even though we had a reservation. The reservation was for 7:30 and we did get seated until after 8. I expected that once we were seated we would be eating right away because it was hibachi and they would be cooking it in front of you right away. Ordering and waiting for our hibachi chef did take a while. The food was good but it was after 10pm by the time we finished. -The Hubs and I were seated right away with a reservation at the bar. We instantly noticed how spacious and airy the restaurant felt. We felt comfortable dining here due to how large the restaurant was and how easily everyone could social distance while eating without masks. We noticed families with children and agreed we could see ourselves bringing the kids to Inatome. Hubs and I weren't planning on ordering omakase so I can't comment on how that experience would've went. We ordered -Shrimp & Vegetable Tempura Appetizer ($6.75) which was light, crispy and easy to eat. I appreciated how light-handed they are with the batter, it makes for a more delicate tempura. -Sashimi Deluxe ($26.95) was good, although not amazing. All the fish was fresh but nothing was spectacular. The sushi chef told us what was flown in fresh from Japan and asked us a few times if we were enjoying our food. It was an average experience for me, mainly because I didn't think some of the sushi cuts were done very well. Too big and blocky which makes it difficult to chew the fish and get the most out of it. The Summer Roll (Salmon, Mango, Avocado, Cucumber wrapped w/ Daikon Radish) was refreshing. -Sushi & Sashimi Combination ($22.95) Hubs said it was "OK, not great." Both entrees came with a soup (choice of the Inatome soup / Miso) & Salad with Inatome Dressing, which is the typical carrot ginger dressing. I asked if I could skip the soup and the waitress offered to make my salad large instead. -sweet potato shocuh - I don't recall which two we ordered but they did the job. I wouldn't say they are the best tasting but they're strong! I had high hopes for Inatome due to positive reviews on Yelp and from friends who love and frequently dine at the restaurant. Sadly my personal experience fell a bit short. It is a beautiful restaurant however, has a lovely staff and a great menu with a variety of options from sushi to noodles to hibachi. Omakase dinner course at sushi bar! This place is known for teppan steakhouse but those in the know come here for omakase course dinner. They have a small sushi counter by the front entrance, seats about 8 people. The chef watched us eat and observe reactions, depend on how we eat, he comes up with the next dish. Every small dish and sushi served was amazing, nicely presented. I paired my dinner with chilled sake, it was so smooth, I ended up having so many cups to the point I forgot counting. Some of the sushi was so good, it literally melted in my mouth. They fly in fresh fish from Tsukiji everyday, brining the best to the table. I really enjoyed my dinner that night. I think we were there for about 3 hours? It's a middle of residential area, one has to know it's here to come. I highly recommend omakase course dinner to experience fine Japanese dinner. read more
