Inca Kingdom in Thousand Oaks is such a beautiful little local gem. I didn't get a chance to eat during this visit, but they have Peruvian food, and I absolutely want to come back and try it. What made my visit special was the owner, who was absolutely lovely. She helped me pick out sage that I gifted to my son and his girlfriend so they could sage their new apartment, and I really appreciated her kindness and guidance. The store is filled with beautiful crystals, meaningful gifts, and unique finds. I also picked up a poetry book by Khalil Gibran that I can't wait to read. Came here on a Wednesday around noon for lunch with my colleagues. There was a decent amount of parking in the thin strip of parking lot with additional street parking. We were greeted immediately by the friendly woman who attended to us the whole meal. She let us sit anywhere and each of us in our party of 3 received an iPad to look at their menu (the same menu found on their website) and also sheets of paper for their lunch specials. The lunch specials were all $17.99 and came with a bowl of the soup of the day. That day it was chicken and vegetable soup. The inside is rustic, lots of decor depicting or referencing Peruvian culture. More of a casual restaurant with a Peruvian market built in that had different Peruvian pantry items and knickknacks to buy. I decided to get the tallarines verdes con lomo saltado while my coworkers got a chicken saltado with cosmetic noodles, a rice dish, and a fries and hot dog dish with rice. Their 3 lunch menu items came with the soup of the day and I was given one since there was just 2 of them. The soup was very hot, comforting, and savory. Not too salty and very light. It had carrots, potatoes, soft bow tie pasta, and the option to add juice from a lime wedge. Simple but delicious. I REALLY REALLY enjoyed my dish. Slightly on the pricier side for me but absolutely worth it! The pasta was so creamy and delicious. Really loved the basil pesto sauce. The meat juices from the beef mixed with the sauce as well which elevated the flavor. The meat was tender and juicy and the shallots and tomato were cooked perfectly! The tomato was softened but intact and the shallots were perfectly crunchy but not too strong in flavor. I would definitely get this again. We also got some sort of buttery toasted corn kernel snack and 2 types of sauces, a very mild green sauce and a habanero sauce. The habanero was delicious and added a nice kick to my noodles. My colleagues also enjoyed their meals. They said excellent choice, Jackie! (Since it was my suggestion to try this place). I am eager to try some of their seafood dishes and even their yucca fries! I've been meaning to leave a review for this place for a while now. They're fairly new, but the food is so delicious. On our visit we ordered the Lomo Saltado, the Bistec a lo Pobre, and the cookies, and everything was absolutely full of flavor. The seasoning was spot on and you can really tell the dishes are made with care. The portions could maybe be a little bigger, but honestly the taste and quality make up for it. My husband's family is from South America, and they all really enjoyed the food, which says a lot. Everyone at the table was impressed. I believe the woman who helped us was the owner, and she was incredibly sweet and welcoming. We really appreciated the warm customer service it made the whole experience even better. This is definitely a Peruvian restaurant worth trying. We'll absolutely be coming back many more times with our family. read more

I ordered to-go from this place tonight for a 10 person dinner I was having at my house with family. We normally go for Thai or Chinese with a big group but I wanted something different. I love Peruvian but it can definitely be hit or miss. Everything we ordered was amazing. The ceviche was one of the best I have ever had, the lomo saltado and arroz chaufa was amazing. Everyone loved the food and we are so happy that we found a great Peruvian place near by. I will definitely be ordering from here again. The Aji de Gallina made for a great lunch! The chicken was tender and not at all dry. The aji sauce was creamy went perfectly with the steamed rice. I would lick this plate clean - it was so good! Pro-tip: If you don't want fries, the server recommended subbing with steamed veggies for the lomo saltado! It would be a great high protein option. The staff were friendly and gave corn nuts as a snack before our meal was served. They also have banana leaf wrapped tamales that I would be eager to come back and try. Finally an authentic Peruvian restaurant with some classic dishes as well as combo plates. Growing up Peruvian in the area, its tough to find good quality authentic peruvian food. This place has everything you need. Love the Tallarin Verdes, great flavor. Lomo is great too. Small spot which I love cause it reminds me of the peruvian restaurants in the South Bay. Learned this place recently opened so we went to give it a try and we were quite happy with the food. It's attached to a small little gift shop and grocery store. Everything on the menu was available to buy, spice wise it seems, at the store next door. They have a menu but also a QR code to their online menu with photos. They also have a QR code to pay through your phone and use Apple Pay to make it easy. We really enjoyed their food and will be back to try other things on the menu. read more

I really was excited to see a new place open, serving Peruvian food. Unfortunately, the food was lackluster. The portions were small for the price. The highlights were the plantains that were sweet and cooked well. We had 8 bite sized pieces for $8. The beef (lomo saltado) was tender and had flavor however the pasta lacked flavor and need salt. The potato appetizer also was bland and needed a lot of salt. It had 5 chunks of potato for $12. Ceviche was ok. The breaded chicken had spongey parts to it. I really hope this place can adjust to portions and seasoning as they seem to be nice people. Unfortunately, $100 bill for a mid tasting lunch will probably not have us coming back. read more

Anyone who gave this place less than 5 stars is crazy. I am Peruvian and grew up eating my grandmothers cooking and these dishes tasted exactly like hers. Full of flavor, and juicy tender meat. You can tell everything is cooked and made from scratch. Ive been here several times and there has been no difference in the amazing food quality. I've also been to several Peruvian restaurants around the area and nothing compares to this place. For kids I highly recommend the Tallarines Verdes con pollo. This dish is not what you think when you think pesto, it is a creamy green sauce that has its own flavor profile different than Italian. It is perfect for kids because it is rich but not too much so where it is overpowering. The anticuchos were out of this world, tender and the homemade sauces to pair it with were perfect. The Aji de gallina was also just lovely I highly recommend it. The staff was excellent, you can tell their heart and soul is poured into this restaurant. I was told before the restaurant opened officially, that the menu would be vegan friendly. I've since come in to check it out, and I'd have to remove things to make items more vegan friendly. And, still that would be very few items I could modify. For the price, it's not worth it to me to get less, and still be charged the same amount. I ended up somewhere nearby for far less money, and far more vegan friendly. I really wanted to try and like this place. I normally love trying new places. Please add more vegan friendly offerings, like you initially promised. read more

The food was excellent. It passed the authenticity test with flying colors from my Peruvian family. The lomo saltado is made with juicy tender meat and the side sauces are flavorful and spicy. The service is very warm and friendly and accommodating. I'm not from the area although I'll be sure to make a stop here whenever passing through. Give it a try! Who ever gave this restaurant 5 stars doesn't know what Peruvian food tastes like or they were family members. My husband ordered Arroz con Pollo at $24 and basically got a bowl of rice and one chicken leg. One of my sons got Ají de Gallina and my other son and myself got Tallarines verdes con Milanesa. The sauces in all these dishes had no taste and were watered down. Not enough chicken in the ají de gallina either. We spent $126.00 on food that was not worth it. Also the service, very poor. They need to lower their prices, use more meat on their dishes or they won't be open for too long. I was really looking forward to a Peruvian meal, but left very disappointed. I wish them the best, but changes need to be made. read more

I really wanted to like this place and was rooting for them because I'm Peruvian but I don't think they will make it with those prices. $23 for a pesto spaghetti which chicken and $17 for a salchipapas (French fries + a few pieces of hotdog) is overpriced and the food was ok, nothing special. I had one of the worst meals ever. The plantains were undercooked and raw in the inside, same with the french fries, the meat had a very strange foul taste, the rice was hard and inedible, hardly any salad and what was there was wilted and overly sour, the fried egg was a hard boiled egg. The service was terrible, I had to call the woman who was busy doing other things like five times, my plate was so overloaded that it was impossible to get to the ingredients, the salt shaker had totally humid salt and couldn't get any salt out of it. And what you offer is totally over priced on top of it all. I didn't have the energy to argue and fight with the people working there today, since they would have to correct every single ingredient of my meal, not only one. Then I asked for the price of the box with alfajores and it is priced DOUBLE of the same kind and quantity of alfajores anywhere in Los Angeles at diffent markets. The ONLY thing that was good today was a can of Inca Cola, also totally overpriced at $4.00. I was so looking forward to eating there, but I will never ever return. The owners should do something to remedy all this if they want to have a clientelle. read more
