We called on a Sunday evening, and even though they too were super busy, they made time for us, and spent time on the phone with us to help figure out what the issue might be before they even got here. Sure enough, what they'd guessed was the issue. Also- they recommended some folks to come in and fix the drywall/insulation issue for when they'd finished the initial repair. And best of all, they coordinated with the drywall repair folks so that when Fabian was finished, the drywall repair folks stepped right in- same day, full repair Aaron's Home Repair Services, also really good at what they do!). Fabian took care to cover the area beneath the leak just in case something unexpected happened. He fixed the issue, pointed out some items we might want to fix sooner or later- not because he was drumming up more business for himself, but rather he was showing us what should be next on our home repair list in that bathroom so we could avoid future extra drywall etc repairs. Very thoughtful. He was clear and concise with the suggestions he made, his rates are fantastic for the work that he did, and the fact that he went the extra mile coordinating without my having to be the go-between really made me feel respected and taken care-of as a client. So I resorted to yelp. Based on the Yelp reviews, Mike's Plumbing was my number one choice. Mike's Plumbing Service has the Responsible Plumber Endorsement from the Texas State Board of Plumbing Examiners. I looked him up by his license number, and it shows License Status: Current. Expiry Date: 04/30/2016. It also shows Certification of Insurance: Yes. Insurance Expiry Date: 10/01/2015. I happened to call on Friday morning before a long holiday weekend. Unfortunately for me, Mike was out of town visiting relatives and didn't respond until Tuesday. That was my bad luck, because in the meantime, since I didn't hear back from Mike, I called my second choice (based on yelp), Mr. Plumber. Mr. Plumber said they could send someone out right away on Friday, but I ended up (due to my schedule) arranging the appointment with Mr. Plumber on Tuesday morning. When Mr. Plumber came out Tuesday morning, the guy said we did not have a leaky pipe. Instead we had a leaky faucet that needed to be replaced. Mr. Plumber said he would charge me $575.00 to replace the faucet. YOWSERS!!!! More than $500? I couldn't believe it. I felt Mr. Plumber was over-charging me, so I decided not to do business with them. For this bit of knowledge, I had to pay the $65.00 site visit fee to Mr. Plumber. (If I had gone with their recommended repair, the $65.00 would have been absorbed into the $575.00 cost.) I checked around and found out I could buy a nice faucet for about $200 from Lowe's or a cheap faucet for $99 + tax (about $108). If you go into the store and sign a contract, the Lowe's on Callaghan Rd will arrange for a plumber to install the faucet for $100. That would have been the cheapest thing, but when you go that route, you don't know the quality of the plumber you will get. As luck would have it, after Mr. Plumber's visit and right after I got off the phone with Lowe's on Callaghan, Mike's Plumbing called me back. Boy, was I glad to hear from him. He said he could come over and replace the faucet for $165, as long as I could get the faucet and have it ready at the house. Yes, this was more expensive than the $100 installation quote from Lowe's, but I had a good feeling about going with Mike, and what's more, he said he could come out and install the faucet the very next morning. I'm guessing there would have been a lot more wait time if I had gone through some contractor through Lowe's. So I paid an extra $65 to go with Mike. Mike was very professional and came out the next morning to install the faucet as promised. He did a great job. As I'm out of town, he even sent me photos of the old and new faucet, as well as a photo of his invoice. Price quoted from Mr. Plumber: $575.00 Price I paid: $65 for Mr. Plumber visit (charged because I refused their services) + $165 for Mike's Plumbing Faucet Installation + $108 for new (cheapo) faucet --------- $338.00 Cost savings by going with Mike's Plumbing: $237.00. To be fair, if we compare apples to apples and replace with exact same quality of faucet, the price would have been an additional $80 + tax. So if I had gotten the nicer faucet, my cost savings would have been only $150.00, but that's still a good chunk of change. (I went with the cheaper faucet at Lowe's because I was reeling from the $338.00 total figure. With $80 + tax more, it would have been $425.00! Goodness gracious. The cheaper faucet is fine for now, as it kept the total cost closer to $300.) Although this was an expensive setback, the silver lining is that now I've found a good plumber. If I ever need a plumber in San Antonio, I know who to call. Mike's Plumbing. I'm so glad I found Mike.

My water heater pilot stopped working. So I contact them, they ask what make/model of heater, then they connect me to this plumber that (as it turns out) doesn't have the part. Amigos Plumbing orders the part (over speaker - both acknowledge for an overnight delivery) and three days later - no part. Thus, no hot water. What does the Amigos Plumbing have to say about it? Pretty much "oh well, you're stuck". Also the telltale line crappy customer service uses (from a manager of all people): "What do you want us to do about it?" /boggle Really? SInce they took the pilot assembly with them, they're right - I'm stuck. Bottom line, I should one star myself for just not doing it myself. I doubt the assembly needed replacing, but we'll never know because I don't have positive control over the part anymore. I had a car mechanic and an older Suburban. If they didn't have the part, they contacted nearby parts stores and other mechanics and bought the part from them. I guess they can't bring themselves to look around...or even call the manufacturer and get on their case for failing to deliver on the promised time. Just..."Oh well".

The remodel took over six weeks, and during that time we were displaced from our bedroom and had to move into a spare room upstairs. Recently, I noticed the caulk around the bathtub seal was coming up. It took more than two weeks for someone to come out, and the repair itself took only about five minutes. Instead of handling it as a courtesy, I was told the work had been installed in January 2024, the warranty was only for two years, and I was a few months outside the warranty period, so technically I should be charged got a $150 service call. While he were here, one of the toilets they had installed also needed a very minor adjustment inside the tank. Again, I was told I was just outside the warranty period and would have to pay over $150 for a service call for what was essentially a two-minute fix. I understand that labor is not free, and I respect that service companies have to charge for their time. However, after spending nearly $40,000 with this company, I expected at least a little courtesy and goodwill for such small, quick adjustments. Instead, I was met with a rude attitude and a complete unwillingness to help unless I paid another service charge. My biggest issue is not just the warranty cutoff. It is the lack of professionalism, courtesy, and customer care after we spent so much money with them. The experience felt very transactional: take the money, then refuse to stand behind the work in any reasonable way once the big project was done. Based on our experience, I would not use this company again, and I would strongly encourage others to be cautious. Get every warranty term in writing, keep all documentation, and be prepared for them to request proof and charge service fees even for very minor issues. Or just avoid them all together and don't do business with them. Buyer beware.
