We visited for Mother's Day as a party of seven and were very disappointed with the overall experience. The buffet was not properly maintained. Several items were not refilled in a timely manner, including pani puri, and the restaurant repeatedly ran out of bowls and plates. The rasmalai was also unavailable and appeared to be replaced with fruit salad, which was disappointing. How do you have kadi pakora with no pakora. How do you have dahi vada with no dahi. Ridiculous Service was also poor. No one came by to refill water or check on our table. When naan was served, it was placed into the basket by hand, without gloves or tongs, which felt unsanitary. We were also seated in a corner area that felt more like a warehouse than a dining space. Three people in our group barely ate, yet we were charged $22 per person plus an automatic 18% gratuity for parties over five, which was not clearly communicated upfront. Given the lack of service, that charge felt unreasonable. I needed a quick takeout meal post gym and got to try Taj Mahal! I ordered online and it took about 25 minutes. I got the paneer mahkni and garlic naan. It comes with jasmine rice and also a side of onions to top! Everything was really hot and fresh even after sitting for a bit. I thought the portion size was great and made was 2 meals for me. I wish there was a little more paneer but there's definitely plenty of gravy! I got the medium spice and I didn't think it was too bad (I am white with low spice tolerance!) When we first walked in we noticed how peaceful it felt! There is music playing in the background which is loud enough to not hear the conversation at the next table. We sat right across from the buffet. They have lots of different meat and non meat options which I love! They also have mango ice cream for dessert yummy! I highly recommend dining here! I posted some videos of our food and the buffet! My husband said that some of the items were too spicy for him but he still enjoyed everything he tried! Everything we ate was delicious. They gove you an indian version of chips and salsa. We got the hash brown appetizer which was like a mcdonalds hash brown, but not greasy, thicker with some spice. For dinner I got the butter chicken hot with the buttered naan. I have eaten here for years and am finally leaving a review. I have ordered several of the items, but my main recommendations are the chili paneer, paneer makhani, the garlic naan, and the malai kofta. All these items are really good. My favorite here is the chili paneer as this is my go-to indo-Chinese item nearby. They really marinate and cook the paneer well. I usually order to go so I do not have much experience dining inside the restaurant, but my experiences inside have not been bad. It usually takes around 45 minutes to an hour to prepare the items and it is good to call in your order early. Overall, I would most definitely recommend ordering from here, but I would say to-go is a good option. read more

My favorite Indian dishes are saag paneer and palak paneer. It's what I get every time I have Indian food, but I can't order it at any other restaurant anymore because I always compare it to Taj Mahal's and Taj Mahal's always comes out first by far. The portions they give you for the price are phenomenal. And they offer the option to get it spicy, which really adds to an already delicious dish. It's so filling and flavorful. I have also tried their garlic naan, which is very tasty and their chicken tikka masala (my friend ordered this, so I tried a bit of his) is really good. What a negative experience. I went for the lunch buffet and was so disappointed. Firstly the food was only just warm. In my opinion the selection wasn't very good. The chicken tikka was basically a pan of sauce with a few chuncks of chicken hidden inside. it is obviously a way to make an excessive profit. ( I know businesses have to be profitable but I don't want to have a meal that gives me a feeling of getting something less than quality) On getting the check I discovered the price has been increased from $16 to a massive $21. They do not put all ingredients included in the descriptions of the food. I have a Tree Nut allergy and came here yesterday for the buffet. I am very cautious about reading if anything has allergens and I saw absolutely no signs. The tiki masala had cashews in it but the description was "boneless chicken cubes in a creamy tomato sauce" absolutely no mention of nuts or cashews. It took one bite and I was having a reaction already. Had to go to the ER and everything. Hopefully everything ended up being ok but this was my entire day. And someone with a deathly allergy could have died and that would be on them. Extremely rude "owner". I walked in for lunch and stood at the counter for quite a while and was ignored by the man who was playing on his cell phone behind the bar located back of the room. I finally got his attention and he just pointed swaying his arm stating as if "sit anywhere" and went back to his phone. Since he refused to come take my order I was forced to eat off the buffet offerings which did not have what I went in to order. When I returned with my plate and sat down at the table and began eating, the same man came to my table and requested me to stand up and move to another table because he had not instructed me to sit at that table. At first I thought it was a joke being April 1st but he was very serious. He stated that even though the entire restaurant was empty with the exception of two tables, he only had two other tables available and the others were unavailable. I asked him why he didn't assign me a specific table in the first place and he ignored me answer and simple repeated himself instructing me to pick up my things and move to another table. Mind you. The section I was in was not closed. He just selected random tables to be "closed" abstractly. I pointed out the absurdity of his directions and it was only after i did so that he hanged his mind and "allowed" me to stay at my table. However, he refused to take my order and stated I should eat from the buffet and brought me room temperature warm water as if they did not have cold drinking water. I have very mixed feelings about this location as it has been a go to for our family for years however our most recent experience was extremely lack luster. We had been regular customers of Taj Mahal when it was originally located on Bloomingdale and Lake. Over the years, our family has used their catering services for many big events and always had reliable service and consistently, delicious food. We were even contemplating using them for an upcoming event which is what brought us to dinner there tonight. We came in on a Saturday evening around 6:30pm and the location was rather empty (2-3 other parties seated). We were promptly seated and given menus and order was taken. The food was a complete disappointment. All three entrees were bland in flavor and even though all were ordered at different spice levels, they tasted the same. In addition, the naan was tough. All the while not once was our water refilled or were we asked if there was anything else we needed. We needed to ask for water once and after waiting for 15 minutes, I had to walk up to the bar and ask for water again. Given the emptiness of the location, this slow, inattentive service is unacceptable. It is safe to say that we will not be using their catering services until our in-restaurant experience proves to be better. Hopefully our experience was an exception to their usual dinner service (although my family was there over this past Mother's Day and the service was equally as lacking however an exception can be made for a busy holiday).
