I was excited to try an Indian food restaurant in Avondale but unfortunately was not met with a pleasant experience. When we walked in they didn't greet us, instead they pointed to a table and said "sit over there". A male waiter came to the table and did not greet us but just stood there to take our order. I ordered the Dal Maharani and specifically said I like spicy but not too spicy. What was brought to the table was too spicy to be edible. I asked for another order because I was unable to eat it. However, what came back was the exact same order in a different dish! The best thing about the visit was the sweet woman who brought us water and papadum to the table. She apologized to us even though she had nothing to do with the food order. Regardless, I will not be back and I would not recommend. read more

My first time eating Indian cuisine and I was not disappointed. The customer service is outstanding and unlike any other place I've eaten. We got the onion baji appetizer, chicken tikka masala, saag paneer, regular naan, and gulab jamun. All were amazing and hit the comfort food spot. Our favorite was the chicken tikka masala. We enjoyed the food so much that we ordered takeout again from this place a few days after our first takeout from them. This time, we ordered takeout at the restaurant and enjoyed some nice chai tea as we waited for our food to be made. We tried the chicken korma and the paneer masala. Both were delicious! I like that they give a spice level range of 1-10 for certain dishes. Our sweet spot is a 5 or 6. This restaurant gives great customer service and is family owned. The buffet was a bit sparse but at least the tandoori chicken, chicken korma and curry vegetables were very tasty! In stark contrast, however, the basmati rice was flavorless and clumpy, the saag (palak) was little more than creamed spinach which I liked but wouldn't be to everyone's liking, the naan was dry and plain without any butter or seasoning, the kheer and halva carrot pudding were among the worst I've had. They serve beef?!?!???? This is the first Indian restaurant I've been to that serves beef. (I could be wrong, but I thought cows were sacred creatures in their religion.). The restaurant seemed outdated inside. They have a buffet station, but apparently they no longer serve the buffet at all. Anyhow, the food is horrible and bad quality. We ordered a vegetarian appetizer plate, a meat appetizer plate, Saag paneer, chicken tikka masala, garlic naan & basmati rice. It's annoying that their dishes don't come with rice and there's an additional charge for it. Their food was bland and lacked that flavor burst that all Indian dishes have. We were really looking forward to their chicken tikka masala. But it bland and it seems like there was something missing. The meat appetizer plate looked like just leftover pieces of meat put in a small plate. Same with the vegetarian appetizer. We ended up eating the vegetarian samosa at the end....and it tasted spoiled! Yuck! I'll never eat here again. I only gave them 2 stars because they were nice and polite. Best Indian food I've eaten in a long time! The flavors and spices are the perfect combination that takes every item we ordered from good to amazing! The paneer masala and bhindi masala are our favorites! Bhindi masala is one of those items that can be hit or miss, but when it's done right, it's awesome! All the food is made to order and the restaurant was happy to make requested adjustments to the ingredients. I'm not a fan of green peppers and they made all the dishes I ordered without it. The naan bread and samosa are also delish and servings are generous enough for leftovers. The curries and salad bar looks fresh in the buffet line. There are different sauces that you can add with your meal. The restaurant is clean and wait staff are friendly. My first time dining here was with my wife and we went with recommended "first timer" items such as chicken tikka masala, butter chicken, and a side of garlic naan. We were instant fans of all three. Our server was very friendly, attentive, and just the right amount of talkative. I decided to return for their buffet shortly after this visit to try even more Indian foods. Keema matter (beef), saag (a spinach dish), tofu matter, and gajar halwa (a carrot pudding) were all excellent, especially the pudding.
